best rod under $100.00

Featured Replies

I have a St Croix Premier and like it, but with the Mojo's now out I would try one of them. The Mojo's use the same blank, so they are probably very similar.

What do you guys think is the best rod under $100.00? Thanks for the help :)

I don't think that question's answerable. There may not be a "best", but even if there was, nobody has tried them all. However, everybody has their favorites.

My personal practice is that I don't have brand loyalty. I'll buy almost any brand if it has the length, power, action, handle and overall feel that suit my desires. I've had rods under $100 from Garcia, Quantum, Fenwick, Gander Mountain, Daiwa and others that I've been pleased with.

There are a lot of decent products out there.

for under $100, the compre line (and warranty) are hard to beat.

X2  or a Fenwick HMX

all star asr rods are nice and can be bought right.

I have a bunch of Fenwick HMX's, and IMHO can't be beat for less than $100, I also have 3 of the new St Croix Mojo Bass rods, but have yet to fish them so I'll holdoff on judgement for now. The Compre has the best warranty and is a great rod too. I have one and would add more if the mood strikes me. If you really want to save some money, the Shimano Clarus seems like a great rod for it's price, and I have never had a bad expierance with a Berkley Series One, or Lightning Rod.

I really like the Quantum Energy in that price range. It's a very underestimated rod.

X2 love it more than my 2 crucials...

I would not buy a rod on line unless I have seen it person first and put my reel on it, I have made that mistake.

As far as best, that's subjective not objective, it all lies in your own opinion.

I would have to agree with the Quantum Energy Rods. Very nice rods for the price.

shimano, st. croix, fenwick, falcon

if i was to spend $100 id try out the mojo rods.

I like the Allstar ASR series rods the best with St. Crois Mojo coming in a close second. The ASR feels better in my hand but its a personal preference thing. I feel the split grips make me LOOK like I know what I'm doing , even if I don't! ;D

x4 for the compre.  However, I think the st.croix mojos are going to be awesome rods as well.

The only way you can trully tell is bye going to an outdoors shop and put them in your hand and ask questions. Most people dont have all rods to compare and give you an honest answer.

The Compre, Premier/Mojo, and Quantum Energy are all good rods.  The HSX blanks Quantum uses are rolled by Lamiglas.

the team all star rods are now $79.99, best rods for the money.

I just picked up a St Croix Mojo Swimbait rod ($120) and I am very impressed with how light and sensitive it is especially for such a big rod.
