which one for jig/worm rod ... medium heavy or heavy ... its going to be a powell max casting extra fast just cant decide heavy or medium heavy

For T-rig I fish a Mh fast tip and mybe a Mod. tip. If I were fishing a senko or no weight then I would go M action and mod. tip and maybe a fast tip. Remember not all rods are the same! One rod company may have a MH fast tip and another company may have that sme rod listed as M Mod. tip.

I have the Powell Max and I use the Heavy for both applications.  

Their Heavy model still allows casting of lighter baits and has plenty of backbone which is a necessity for Jigs and Texas Rigs.

If fishing soft plastics like the senko stick to the MH, it works well with the lighter jigs and allows you to cast the senko's pretty easily.  Go for a fast or xf tip for the quick hooksetting power

definitely medium-heavy. i have the powell max 703CEF and it is perfect for texas rigging (weightless or not) and jigs. you can get away with going up in power to heavy but then that rod becomes a lot less versatile. don't go less than medium-heavy unless you're fishing open water and your worms and jigs have exposed hooks. when it comes to largemouth, medium-heavy is the right choice most of the time for most people.

I too would say MH as that is what I have for use with smaller weights : 1/8,3/16,1/4,3/8.  However, for larger t-rigs like a 10'' worm or a full size brush hog, I use a 7'H Kistler

I use a 6-6 heavy for jigs 3/8 and up and a 6-6 MH for anything under 3/8. I like the 6-6 heavy for c-rigs and heavy t-rigs.

Get a Powell 734C! It's heavy, but it has a pretty soft tip that will let you cast lighter baits pretty well.

MH extra fast, word of caution: make sure it's actually medium-heavy. A lot of companies rate rods as medium-heavy when they really are closer to medium.

If you can't throw a 5 inch senko on a mh avid you've got a reel,line or skill problem it ain't the rod.

I am looking at buying a St Croix avid and cant decide on MH or H, I am gonna go to BPS and feel to see which one feels better to me. It sounds like mh is more an all around rod and seems to fit me well.

Where does this fit in frogs? Heavy more likely because of the slop? How heavy do you folks go on line with heavy action rods?

30# braid, can easily go to 65# braid as well

I said medium heavy for sure. But more importantly get a Fast Tip that makes a big difference as well.
