Need help building an arsenal

Featured Replies

Hey guys plan on getting a boat with in this year and want to start building up my rod arsenal.  Just wanted to see what brands you guys like to use.  I've been looking at the Daiwa-S and Daiwa LT rods.  I'm looking to spend around 100-150 per rod just wanted to get everyones view.

I haven't used a Daiwa antything yet. I do plan on picking up a Zillion soon though. For 100-150 bucks zone you should check out Falcon Lowrider XG's. They are great rods, made in the U.S., light enough, sensitive, and have just about every type of application available. I beleive all of the rods are under $150. St. Croix Avids are sexy rods also, but cost $150 -180.

Hope this helps.

GLoomis.

What techniques are you going to use ?

I bought into the Mojo Craze...The St. Croix mojo Bass rods are light strong and cheaper @ $90.

Give them serious consideration.

Rogue Rods

E21 Carrot Stix

Falcon

All good rods in your price range.

Watch for sales on the high end BPS rods, Johhny Morris Signature and Elite rods.

Falcon would be a good choice for your price range, or any price range for that matter. I've never used Daiwa so can't comment on them.

St. Croix or Loomis

Tried and true...

BTW,

Welcome aboard!

For that price range, absolutely the Falcon Lowrider or the Shimano Crucials.  Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.

I could pretty much fish whatever I want, at one time I was big time in to Megabass rods.. but at 500 to 800 dollars each I got sick everytime I set the hook in fear of breaking one! so I went to loomis and really liked them... then I fished a carrot stix gold... I sold off every rod I owned other then my Steez rods that my Steez reels are mounted on.. The Carrot stix LTX at 150.00 (130 on ebay free shipping) or what I use the Carrot Stix gold 200.00 are AMAZING rods! there just as if not more sinstive then my Steez rods at 1/3 the price they have a life time over the counter warranty that replaces a broke rod free NQA... they are VERY strong rods and this is a FACT they are the lightest rods on the market I have a TD-ITO on a 6.9 MH it it weighed 9.7OZ on my digi postal scale!!!!! a full rig thats under 10ozs.. but The Daiwa L&T rods are awesome too! and the TD-S rods are as well! they brought them back because so many people kept requesting them too Denny B. can fish any Daiwa rod he wants (450-600.00 Steez) and he still till this day uses the TD-S rods... I have a a TD-S Frog rod I still use and love it

Same here, mojo bass is a excellent rod.

St. Croix or Gloomis.

If you need a crankbait rod ohya.com has them for @$175, a little much for a cranker, but perhaps the best out there.

The Diawa rods you mentioned are very nice, I own a number of them. I broke a TD-LT setting the hook on a stump-bass and got a new one in around 17 days, I just had to pay shipping one way.

Kistler

In that price range I would go with a Powell if you like the split grip or a Shimano Crucial if you prefer the traditional style...JMHO

Kistler Mg series or for more of the Japanese enthusiast take look on tackle warehouse at the Damiki rods. for 169.00 to 209.00 they have alconite guides and fuji reel seats. I have just got 5 of them and love them (esp. the 8' SB rod).
