New reel poll (REVO added), I'm getting a citica

Featured Replies

My wife is supposedly going to surprise me with a reel off of this list, which one should I persuade her to go for? I was thinking carbonlite or Caenan (on the cheaper side of things)

Edit: Hooah, I'm getting a Citica 200E! can't wait :)

You want to stay on the cheaper side, I would grab the PQ on sale right now for $69.99.  Unless the sale has ended, but I thought it was going until some time on November.

I said Citica but if the PQ is still on sale then I'd say it's a winner

I have  the citica caenan and the curado and would rank the caenan in the middle. Great reel and the caenan is my vote.

PQ.  Get her to buy two of them while they're at the sale price.  :)  For the money, you absolutely cannot beat that reel.

I said PQ just because of it's quality for the price and because it's the only one I have used from that list.

I have used various Quantums and Shimanos as well and have been very impressed with all of them.

Get a reel in your hands before you buy it if possible though.

I have personal experience with the Carbonlite an PQ, while casting a couple times with a Citica.

I voted Carbonlite, because its a fancy PQ, and I haven't used the Citica alot, but people seem to love it.

Shimano Citica

Spend an extra few bucks and get the Citica... you're worth it.

Citica

I voted for the Citica, just because Shimano makes quality products.  But I dont think you could go wrong with the Carbonlite or the Pro Qualifier, especially with it on sale.

Later, :)

Not seeing any love for the Abu Garcia Revo line of reels. Any particular reason why?

Maybe because it wasn't on the OP's list of choices? ::)

Good advice. Even at full retail the PQ is my choice.

They are great reels and all, but way out of the price range, I was doing my list off of retail prices and $119 was my limit, I did tell my wife that she could get them cheaper than retail though.

You should have a look at the Cabela's Prodigy (Daiwa) too.  Pretty darn slick reel for the price and performs nearly equal to my Revo SX (almost, not quite).   Of those listed I'd choose the Citica.

I'll have to check it out. Thanks

I have a Cabelas Prodigy myself and it actually spends more time on the water than my Quantum Energy. I caught it on sale for $70 instead of the normal price of $100. It's a great reel and worth it at either price.

I just voted for the Citica... Wow, talk about a landslide.

If you would've added an ABU in there, I may have been swayed.

I tried to find it on cabela's site but its gone, did they stop making it? It seems like I just saw it on there a few weeks ago.

Get the revo or accurist

If you are willing to spend a little more. look for a deal in our

Flea Market. You might be able to find a Curado 200E7 for

around $135 or so. Game over.

Went with the only one i have experience with and that's the PQ. These are great reels..
