universal line??

Featured Replies

If this has been asked /answered, please direct me to the response but...

I normally use Yo-Zuri Hybrid for all my fishing needs.  ALL of them..... i am very satisfied!

but just to see what else is out there that i can use, can anyone recommend a good all around line?  fluoro or mono?

is there such a thing?

Braid with the appropriate leader, or no leader.

You can use any line for any technique...if your satisfied with one line, why consider another line.  It's kinda like fishing a vendetta, liking it, and switching all your rods to them.  Then the next year, the veritas comes out, you try one, like it, now all your vendettas are on sale in the flea market so you can buy all new veritas.  It seems alot of people have this complex of keeping everything the same.  I personally have a wide assortment of reels, rods, and line that are all used for specific purposes.  Sorry bought the little rant...you know what they say about opinions.... ::D

braid???

thats a good uni line? im assuming theres no stretch?

with a wading rod i normally use 6lb test of the yo zuri. with my BC reel i use 12lb test.

do you need to modify the braid lb test or do i use the same strength?

i see what your saying.  if it aint broke, why fix it.  that is true.........i just see so many lines out there, i sometimes just wonder if there is a better line, yet cheaper

Well with braid you can change your leader pending conditions. You can add fluoro if the water is ultra clear, copoly if you need abrasion resistance, mono if you need stretch, or no leader for zero stretch.

I use the same lb. test I would use in regular line. (Ex: If if you normally use 12# regular line, 50# braid will be the same diameter)

holy crap...ok, school me

if i buy 12lb test in fluoro, why would i not buy 12lb test in braid?  why 30?

Diameter.

There's guys here that use braid for cranks and mono for frogs in heavy slop - and they catch fish in spite of everyone else telling them "you can't do that".

There is no answer to your question, only opinions. Many of the older guys (myself included) fished mono for everything for years. I like braid on my spinning gear because of zero memory. I can feel subtle taps on mono.

That's what happens when that nasty white crap falls from the sky and the water gets hard. Fisherman spend their time online reading through page after page of reviews, rethinking their entire arsenal of rods/reels, and every single lure in their tackle boxes.  ;D

I thought I was the only one that had that problem.

Line is my least concern in fishing, I fish nothing but braid and spinning. Once in a while I try a different brand of braid, as long as the line is strong, holds a good knot and wind knots are kept to a minimum, I'm happy with whatever I'm using.

I am now down to only two lines on all my reels. Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft on most everything and Power Pro braid on my Flippin Stick and one spinning reel. No leaders on anything that isn't a flyrod. I bought one pound spools of 6, 10 & 12 Ultra Soft and 15 and 50lb PP. Never think about line until it's time to re-spool. JMHO

I agree with the Yo- Zuri, I use it for everything.

i was starting to wonder if i was doing something wrong for using yo-zuri for EVERYTHING.

i see the advantage of using braid for heavy cover, but the heavy cover does not exist in my fishing waters.

PLine CXX

Just waiting in the shadows for Burleytog to post...

Spinning: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft

Baitcasting: #12 Hybrid

BTW...The cost is low, give the CXX a try too.

I fished P-Line for several years before switching

to Yo-Zuri. You might like the P-Line CXX better!

8-)

thanks road warrior!!  i use yo-zuri cause of you!!

:D ::) ;D :D

I've used YoZuri Hybrid Ultrasoft on BC and Trilene Xl on spinning almost exclusively in the last couple years but I'm adding some braid (jig) and floro (plastics) to the mix this year.

Regular Yo Zuri Hybrid gets a little bit kinky above 10 lb. Otherwise, 2 thumbs up. I must try the soft version when I run out of the 22 miles of other line still stored in my basement.
