Didn't want to start a thread on this and know a bunch of have ordered from Hedgehog. What is the turnaround like? Going to be making an order soon and was just curious what the expected wait time is with it coming from overseas? A couple weeks? A month? More?

Thanks!

Thanks!

My last order was placed on 9/16 and the package arrived on the east coast on 9/21.  It seemed faster then ususal though.

It depends on what shipping option you choose. EMS is $20 and usually gets delivered in like 3 days. Small packet air mail is $10 and generally takes about 1.5-2 weeks.

Perfect. Thank guys! You two were the first ones I thought of when I asked.

I bought a beater TD-Z to see how I liked the platform.  I am digging it like crazy and as it came with a badly stripped frame screw, I though I should do the sensible thing and tart it up a little.  Right now it's got a RCS 1012 sv spool in it and it'a maybe the best casting reel I have ever used, both in distance and control.  I have an ZPI PG spool in blue on backorder but I might cancel it and try a ZPI M instead as I am running 12lb floro on it.  The reel needs a new drag in the worst way but I cannot find the d**n jar of drag grease I bought and refuse to buy another one.  Im thinking of posting a "WTB: A Smear of drag grease in a ziplock" thread, but that jar must be here somewhere!

This reel is the fourth reel I have tied on my mbr783 and I think at long last I have found The One for this rod.

#1 - That spool in a tdz is fantastic. It’s a great combo for anything.

#2 - the M is a faster spool than the PG. The PG in a tdz is probably one of the best setups I’ve used.

#3 - spend $8 on carbontex drag washers and run them dry. No need for grease on them.

1) It really is a great spool, I have stuck it in four different reels and it's great in all of them.  I ordered the PG so I can stick the RCS in something else.

2) Yea, I keep going back and forth, I think I might just let the order stand and try the PG first.

3) Huh, I was under the impression that carbontex wanted a little grease for max smoothness?  I have a few sets of Daiwa #1 washers around, I will give dry a shot.  I have been fishing the reel a lot with the drag backed off and have been using my thumb on the spool to let line out.  It's pretty interesting when anything the rod can't immediately overpower gets on the line.

In other news, I accidently bought a MC Benkei BIC-672L/BF the other week.  Threw in a lowball ebay bid and forgot about it until I won.  It's a pretty average L/F BFS rod.  It seems pretty true to it's 1/16-1/4 rating, but seems like it would be good a but higher.  The action was faster then I thought it would be, but it's still a little on the mod side of things.  I have only had it out once and haven't caught anything of size on it.  I have an embarrassment of BFS rods and I am going 100% this time I mean it, sell a few of them off any week now.

@fishwizzard

Carbontex is smooth enough when ran dry and I’ve never seen a need for grease. The grease helps with overheating the washers but in bass fishing there’s nothing to worry about there.

Here is one of my Daiwa SV105HS reels with some Hedgehog Studios "dress up" parts, red SV spool, PX-R cast control, RCS corks, Zaion star, 90mm handle, etc.  This and the TDZ/OG Zillion/SV103 platforms are two of my favorites.  I still may add a gunmetal mag dial screw.  Best wishes on the water!

I know some saltwater guys run them dry for max stopping power and they are definitely more than smooth enough dry, but they are just soooo buttery smooth with just a light film of Cal's grease!

Which XX is that?  I am thirsting for a new spinning rod but cannot decide what I want.

Does St. Croix make the best rods on earth?

I love mine.

How ears you liking it?  It's between that rod and the Addermine, I can't decide how powerful I want to go.

I got both, I feel the Addermine has just a little more power....its literally hard to notice between the two.

Also the Addermine is a little more sensitive.

Both rods look and feel amazing to fish.

Addermine has fuji titanium sic guides, Orochi XX has fuji stainless steel sic guides

Is the Addermine worth the extra $100, I would say yes...

That basically sums up my dilemma, they’re only half a power apart I feel like I should go with the Addermine as I have plenty of options for the lighter side of things but don’t really have a good spinning rod I can fish wacky senkos with.

FWIW, I love the XX Ronin for wacky senkos...Lots of other things too.  Even though it's an F4 I consider it to be less powerful than the F3.5 Shakeyhead (XX and Levante).  I'm usually skipping wacky senkos around docks and stuff so I don't like to go too light on power, Ronin fits the bill perfectly.

No freeloading:  MB Black Jungle - Deep Crank / Slow Roll (F5-71XBJ)....Which I've found to be an awesome chatterbait rod.  Haven't used the Robin Blade yet, but it should get a thorough testing here shortly.  Core MG7 is getting old these days but I've yet to find a reel I like better.

These and Chronarch D's still fetch big $$.  Great old reels. Thought the palm side bearing setup was nifty.

Megabass Robin Blade.  I normally don't like chatters without directly-attached blades, but I'm a MB junkie so I had to grab a couple to try.

Supposedly it was designed this way to run deeper without rising and have a 'hunting' action...I generally need my bladed-jigs to run shallower over thick grass, but there are some lakes where I can get on a deeper, non-grass chatter bite so I'll be trying the Robin Blade there.

What reel is that? A Luvias or a Steez?

BTW, nice Bihn! I've got the Synapse 25- over 4-5 years it's held up amazing for doing "one bag travel" over the world.
