You do have to be careful on spools. I had the 1012sv in my mono block and it was great. Furthest casting reel I had using a weightless senko. SV103 spool stinks so you aren’t missing anything there. Far too much braking on it. You can always swap out to a shorter inductor so it can be used. Zillion 1016sv has the short inductor and has impressed me in any reel I’ve tried it in so far. The Zpi M spool has a shorter inductor vs the PG also.

Yea, I have a pair of sv103 spools with stiffer springs swapped into them, which helps a little but they are still far behind the Zillion 1016sv.  The spring swap does free them up very nicely for heavier lures, which is why it's a bummer I can't use them in the Ringa for swimbaits.  This just means I will have to find yet another home for the Ringa at some point.

What inductor would be a good fit for the sv103 spools?  Right now I am just going to fill them with cheap 40lb braid and keep one in my car and one in my kayak stuff as spares in case I have an on the water "oops" and ruin a spool worth of line.

The zillion 1016 sv inductor is short. I think mine were like $17 from Japan. I had 2 sv 103 spools that I removed .40 thousands from on a lathe. Removal of material was based on the inductor height from the zillion 1016 spool. Definitely made a big change when paired with the spring mod.

After experiencing the phrase “buy once cry once” I decided to pull the trigger on my first high end reel. Bought it this morning after returning some stuff to Academy. SVTW103HS and all I can say is wow...this thing is incredible. Can’t wait to get it on the water.

Thanks for the info, I might send mine off to have the shorter inductor installed, might as well sink some more money into these spools.

Speaking of sinking money into things;

Found a deal too good to pass up on a Airy Red Pixzilla.  I have wanted one for a while but never got around to buying a Pixy and moding it.  This one is in outstanding shape and I am super pleased with it.  It's on a cr721 at the moment and it's the make or break reel for this rod.  I want to like it so badly but have never found a good role for it.  I am gonna see if I can make it work as a Ned rig/light plastics rod.

I like the Airy Red spool for Ned rigs.  It is pretty much the opposite of an SV spool.  It is very fast when pitched but still well controlled when cast but not SV controlled.  It is a real treat to pitch light baits with that spool.  I swear it can reach higher RPM on a pitch than a cast.  It is like pitching light baits does not fully activate the Magforce V brake and the spool can really get to spinning.

Yea, I hope to find a 6’ rod that I like to stick it on.  I have the Airy Red spool and a DIY spool both loaded with 4lb Mono to do a little head to head on my trout rod.  I also stuck the ‘zilla with an og Pixy spool on a mbr783 and am going to give that a go as for a bit, I want to see how well I can get that rod to pitch/cast a weighless trickworm with it.

It would make more sense to just buy the inductor from a zillion sv tw. The Tackle Trap carries them. Unless you have access to a lathe, or know a friend with one, that won’t charge you much.

I’ve always wanted a G Loomis, so I used gift cards to finally buy me a shaky head rig.

Assuming it's a prototype model that never made the final production cut...Looking forward to getting it on the water soon.  Seems to be very similar taper to the EMTF, just 1 power heavier.

Uh, where do I have to hangout to find stuff like this up for sale? That is amazing!

Do you have or have access to an FMJ?  I would love to know if they are similar in power/taper.

A friend of mine had a few of the protype xx models. Definitely cool rods and a nice pickup.

Wasn't really anything secret or special, just found it up for sale and was lucky enough to be first to claim it :).  I've played with an FMJ but don't own one.  My guess is that they'd feel different though since this rod has extra length.  Honestly, the FMJ felt pretty close (but better) than the XX TV's to me...I love the TV as a jig rod so I haven't been pressured into an FMJ yet.

Nice pick up....I love my EMTF Gen1, but there are situations where I'd love to have the F6 power...if you don't like that one PM me ASAP! :D

I’m really interested because despite being advertised as “fast”, to me the FMJ feels way more Modfast, especially when compaired to a mbr844 glx. So I’m very curious to see how it would compare to a MB rod of the same power that is listed as being modfast.

Speaking of the mbr844 glx;

I think I might need to buy another Ringa or find a different reel for my

swimbait rod.  I stuck the Ringa on an 844 I traded into and think I’m in love.

Hah, if I were to get a baby round reel it would be the Conquest BFS.

I have my sights on that new Alphas though.....

Me too...just confused on the new 70 size.  But I do like the color scheme.

I'm biased towards Lew's stuff. Just got my Pro Ti as a Christmas gift for myself! :) Trying to decide what rod i want to run with it. Either another TP1 rod or i may spend the money on the matching Pro Ti rod. Typically i don't like to spend more than a 100 bucks on the rod as i feel the TP1 is really a solid rod for the price and the law of diminishing returns seems to take effect after that 100-130 ish dollar price point but I'm undecided.

Anything tossed into heavy cover really.

Upper left is a Piscifun Phantom 7.0:1 reel. I changed the knobs for cork knobs instead of original EVAs. It will be paired with a Fenwick Techna AV 6'6" MHF as a spinnerbait setup. Upper right is a good ol' Citica 200e, 6.3:1 with a Curado spool, bushing replaced with a bearing and a longer straight aftermarket carbon fibre handle with cork knobs with gunmetal accents. It will be paired with a Fenwick Lunker Stick 7'3" MM and is my cranking setup. Lower left is a Curado 200IHG (7.2:1) with upgraded swept carbon fiber handle and cork knobs, gunmetal/milled alu accents. It is paired with a Mojo Bass 7'11" Flippin' Rod for heavier jigs (over 1/2oz). Lower right is a KastKing Spartacus Plus that had its handle replaced with a carbon fiber one with just a tad smaller cork knobs than original. Is actually orphan.
