So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?

Featured Replies

I only caught 5 today in that wind. I had to go shallow. One of them was in a foot of water in some lilly stems. By no means the winning pattern but they’re not all suspended in 40 feet of water ?

  • Well two days in & only 3 fish ?   But one was tagged BassCashBash which I was registered in, it won me a 2019 Dodge Ram!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Yes but went back to Rayburn. I’m extremely hard headed.

@A5BLASTER how much rain have y’all received? Need to go and get my boat but afraid the road might be to muddy to get to it.

Not sure on the totals for today. But the lake is up 4 inches since this morning.

I forgot to tell y’all this when I was there. They logged almost all the trees east of the Six Mile public landing and had cones out so you couldn’t park where everybody usually parks. I’d say half the parking lot was taken so get there early or park on the highway. I heard they were putting in bathrooms and other improvements.

Thanks. Think that means it’s a no go on getting the boat out.

Half the reason I went back to Rayburn but it all worked out. Can’t wait to go back.

I have some questions about crank baits.

Baits with rattles are with out rattles?

When do you use the ones with rattles?

When I'm fishing....

I don't think I own any w/o rattles...

Under "most" conditions rattling baits work just fine. Maybe... Maybe... under highly pressured conditions would I consider a silent crankbait an advantage - maybe.

But that would be obvious from my second statement.

I tend to use rattles on windy days and cloudy days.  Bright sunshine and calm I throw silent crankbaits.

Not laterly, looked at em long & hard but skipped them anyway.

In less than two weeks, my buddy and I will be headed to Toledo Bend from Kentucky. This will be a trip of a lifetime for me. I see that the water levels seem to be coming up nicely. My Question?  At the current water levels, is it high enough to reach the buckbrush that I keep hearing about?  From everything that I have read, thats my style of fishing.......lol

No. Still need 2 to 3 more feet to have enough for them to be in the brush.

They are calling for more rain over the next 3 days, so it possible could be up by late this week.

But then again SRA watched the weather too and now they are running both generators 24 hrs, so they will probably undo most of the good that the rain has done so far.

Thats discouraging!  I am really hoping for a shallower bite. Im not the best fisherman when it comes to deeper water. I do love fishing timber though and there seems to be plenty of it..........lol

The water needs to level off, raising water is difficult fishing.

SRA is running generators.

Date/Time: 2/17/2020 10:00 AM
Lake Level: 169.03 MSL
Current Flow: 13371.00 CFS
Generator 1: Running 24hrs.
Generator 2: Running 24hrs.
Spillway Gates: Closed

Catt is spot on as always.

Rising water blows.

Stable water is good

Falling water y'all better not be between me and my boat because I'm going throw you lmao.
