A 12.47 was caught today also!!!!

Question for the forum . I was told of an area called Preachers Cove on the north end. I don't see it referenced on any map . Any help would be appreciated.

Well, today went about how I expected. After the warm week, the water was up to 56 on the main lake and 60+ in the back of creeks. Saw all the sharelunkers came in shallow water this week, but was too hard headed to go up there. I stayed deep all day on the main lake, caught 15.81lbs which put me in 53rd place out of 277 boats. Apparently everyone stroked em on traps shallow, I just can't stand to do that lol. 26+ won it

Bass f do you know if the guys that won it where north are south of bridge. Been wanting go north but all reports I'm getting said water looks like chocolate milk.

Not sure, but I think north is fishing better right now. Most fish were caught on a trap or blade up shallow.

We had a club tournament yesterday. Most of us struggled but one guy had a limit in about an hour. He culled once and ended up with almost 20 pounds. Think he caught them mid-lake on an umbrella rig.

Hey guys. I have been following this thread for some time now. Lots of great info here. I was able to fish this past Sunday. Bite was slow for us. 

 

Fished Sunday 8am - 5pm.

 

San Patricio / Blue Lake area :  Stained water.

water temp: 54-58.

Caught 2 nice spots in 10 foot deep flat next to 20' drop off. Mouth of creek. 

KVD 1.5 crankbait - Stop n Go retrieve - Medium speed

 

 

 

Lanan Creek &  Lowes Creek ; Clear water

Water temp: 52-56

Caught 12 bass in water ranging from 3ft - 12ft deep. No big ones. Secondary points and cuts. 

TX Rig plastics - 1/8oz bullet weight : Hop it and Pop it.

 Suspending Rogue -  Pop , Pop, Stop

 

Will be there this weekend. Rain or shine.

Housen is going to choked up with boats this weekend with the FOM tournament going out of fin & feather and the wind holding most people close.

Texas team trail is out there this Saturday also. So far this year has been strange for me, I've struggled more than I have in a long time. Heading to Rayburn for a few weeks then will be back on Toledo after march 7th.

Let me know when your over on rayburn we can compare notes

I have finally made it home. 4 days of travel has me wore out. Planning first or second week of march to be up at the lake. Hope I haven't miss all the action! I fish mostly Negreet creek area, will report what I can.

Old friend of mine came in 2nd place in the Texas Trails with 26lbs. As for my trip... boated 3 keepers Saturday. All on 3/4oz spinnerbait. All fish came out of small creeks leading to spawning flats.The fish we caught were holding right near structure sticking out of the water right next to these 15 ft dips in the creeks. Baits used: T rigged senko, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, ratltrap, bladed jigs, bama rigs, split shot flukes, drop shots, jigs, t rigged brush hogs, and DD22s.

 

I scanned several groups of fish suspended anywhere from 5-10 ft in 15-20 FOW... just couldn't get them to bite. I fished anywhere from 5-25ft... fished secondary points, main lake points, some of my mid level structure waypoints, banks, spawn flats, grass, structure... you name it. Stayed around Lowes, all the way from the beginning of negreet to the very back, and all around Big Bass. Not an ounce of sunshine the whole day kept the water around 53-54 degrees. Best i could find was 55.8 degrees in the very back of coves at the end of the day. 

 

Everyone i talked to around mid lake struggled Saturday. I wish i would've made the run up north like i wanted to, but you can only do so much when you aren't fishing out of your own boat. I didn't fish Sunday, but wish i would've. Several of my buddies boated around 6-10 keepers that morning ranging from 5-12 ft in some of the same areas. Come on spring temps!!!! Get here already!!!

Report from Sat. Fished near Hurricane & Bull Creeks, anywhere from mouth to middle ways back. The boys did week for their 2nd time on lake Caught close to 11 pounds, no big ones, just solid 2-2.5's with one 14" that we were unable to cull. A-rig caught most, strike king half ounce double willow spinner bait (chart & white skirt) caught largest, Toledo gold one knocker caught one. Pretty much caught all that bit, really had no big bites. Buck brush in the back of bull was covered with boats, did not really see any fish being caught there, but did not go their till around 11am. All fish caught were in the 8-10' depth in grass. Will be back in a couple of weeks March 7 & March 14th weekend.

 

Had boats around us all day and we really never saw anything caught over 2#'s.
