Had 30lbs today and my dad had 14lbs in our club tournament. Our best 5 combined was 33lbs. I had 3 fish between 7- 10lbs jump off. My big fish i caught was 9.5lbs.  Lots of tournaments coming up, but

  • Well two days in & only 3 fish ?   But one was tagged BassCashBash which I was registered in, it won me a 2019 Dodge Ram!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Good reports y'all

I've heard a rumor of a 38-40# stringer being caught this weekend.

Y'all hear anything?

Texas Team trail was won with a 35.5# stringer. Sure would love to know that story, they had an 11.42# big mama. Would love to be part of something like that one of these days. Very few public lakes around with that type of potential for a 5 fish limit & there are two in that area within 30 minutes of each other.

Winners said they caught fish on traps in a ditch with hydrilla. North.

I haven't had the pleasure of being in the boat yet but I've got a friend that has been catching consistent 20-25# stringers on Rtraps and square bills, anything red, 6-10 fow on grass lines with wood in the blue lake area from the launch at the end of the road, south to solan's. He's been on em for the last 3 weeks during the warm periods. He has caught stringers on one piece of wood that is right on the grass line more than once.

That's the one!

They destroyed the field by something like 10#s!

I was part of a 33.37 team stringer,!

Had a 30.7 by myself without out a double digit kicker, I was freaking.

Three cast a 8.98, 10.66, & 10.96 ;)

Maybe one of these days I can get these boys or even myself on something like that. One thing is for sure, you can't do it sitting at home. Takes a lot of time on the water to find these spots or have some inside info with a weigh point. Don't get me wrong, if someone has been willing to confide in me with a weigh point I have taken advantage of it at times, but the hunt and finding on your own is very satisfying.

Heading to the big pond this weekend. So far reports of red traps, spinnerbaits, and c-rigged lizards are the go to techniques Ive been told. Do yall think this cold weather will still have them deep or the bass are moving up regardless and should concentrate in 10'-less fow?

Everything I'm hearing is 10' or less & not much in the backs of creeks...yet!

IF this weather holds up like its showing for Sat and Sun... a nameless someone will be heading up there either Monday or Tuesday to try for redemption. I am that mad at em right now!!! That's what paid time off is for right??!!??!?!?!!

heading up on tuesday, hearing that paulo never cleared up from the rain a couple weeks ago.  Any one noticed recently?

If yall heading up Monday and Tuesday I may or may not have a good report to share. I'll keep you updated.

Bring ya slicker suit! ;)

Tuesday looks to be the day... a little rain never hurt anyone. As long as i don't see lightning I will be on the water. Would definitely appreciate a water temp/clarity report Sunday or Monday from anyone fishing from as far north as Paulo Gaucho all the way to Hausen.

Saltyredneck I'll be way north in San Patricio, and up. May come back down to Blue lake but will let you know what I see and catch.

I had another hard time finding them yesterday. I fished Housen and 6-mile from 7am to 3pm.

Water temp was 48 in the morning and 51 in the afternoon. Wind out the north bad bad in the afternoon. Water clarity was good in both coves.

All fish (4 total) were caught in Housen on red one knocker RT in 6 to 10 fow. All fish were two to three pounder. No fish on jigs, TR creature baits and CR senko.

Fish were on flats in isolated grass patches. I fished the front 1/3 of coves.

This will be my last report for awhile. I'm starting a 2 month turnaround Sunday. Good luck everyone and be safe.

It's pre-spawn there will be off colored water, don't let that stop you. One of the double digit bass came out of Negreet & off colored water.

I may be around Blue Lake Tuesday, probably by myself. Say hi if you see me. White basscat, yellow bolt & yellow/purple flames on cowling.

We just had 2" of rain in less than an hour with wind gust to 40 mph!

Y'all be safe out there ;)

Anyone hear about the 9lber caught this weekend in the Ratltrap only tournament?? My buddy who fished it said it was his only fish weighed in... he caught it flippin a trap like a jig in a grass mat. LOL. What a way to win 1000$.

Rough weekend. Fished Friday afternoon and lost two at the boat on a trap. Throwing it on a dropoff from 5fow to 12fow. Went to same spot Sat am fished for 4 hrs without a bite. Threw trap, c-rig lizard, jig on bottom, swim jig, jerk bait, spinner bait, fluke and no bites. It had grass on the edge and on bottom of creek and had fish but nothing. Water was a little muddy and left went to Texas side to Martinez. Fished same thing on that side and no bites. Moved to Britten Creek north and picked up one beating the bank with a chatterbait with skinny dipper trailer. Small female about 2lbs. 10hrs of fishing and one fish in the boat. Still was better than working. Only will get better. I started the day Friday and sat just north of Wright's landing. Didn't fish Sunday due to trolling motor issues but will be back next weekend to figure those suckers out./ :eyebrows:

Fished yesterday from Pendleton LA side to Big Bass... heavy fog limited my ability to run north like I wanted. Boated my first keeper around 9am on a spawning flat in Negreet with a Stop N Go presentation. Three casts later I had my second 2lber in the boat. Worked the creeks alongside the flat and the flat pretty thoroughly with chatterbaits, senkos, rattltraps, and brushhogs. Moved out of the area and fished further north around Turtle Beach/Cypress bend. No bites. Switched over to a split shot fluke and boated another 2lber near cypress in 10 FOW close to spawning flat. Fog lifted around 1pm so I moved over to Texas side and caught one more keeper with the same approach in Oilwell. The majority of flats were around the 49-50 degree mark with our best temp reaching 52 on the texas side around 2 pm.  I suspect the fishing only got better as the day progressed, since the air temps were 78 degrees and the sun was shining when i left at 230pm.

I scanned several groups of fish where creek beds intersected with the main creeks running to flats in the 15-20ft range. Tried finesse tactics with drop shots but to no avail. Our camp crew fishing separate areas only managed 1 keeper in one boat and 2 keepers in another.

The water was pretty in most of the coves we fished (Negreet, Oilwell, Cypress, Lowes) The back of Big Bass is very stained.
