So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?

Featured Replies

Had a great trip this weekend, we stayed in negret and fished mostly in that area. The weather was great and we caught around 80 fish total, biggest was 5.14. Caught most of them on trick worms, baby brush hogs and Carolina rig. There were a lot of people on the lake, everyone I seen was very polite. I wanted to thank everyone on here for the advice that was given, learned some more about the lake and how to fish it. I hope to go back at least once more this year.

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

Well I had a first today of sorts.

I have had 100 plus fish days before but never in march.

Well this morning I pull up on Da Hump and put 3 keepers plus a big white perch in the box and then go on to landed 32 dinks.

Then I take off and go check a wind blown bank and instead of finding keepers. I find a gigantic school of dinks, I landed anouther 47 from that school.

Go home and eat lunch and then get back on the water at 4 pm.

Take off too a cove I wanted to work only to find yet another huge school of dinks. Went on too landed 26 from that school.

So it's getting late and I head home but stop at the back from this morning and proceed to catch 3 more keepers back to back and 17 more dinks.

So here is the totals

Keepers-6

White perch-1

Dinks- 122

Total-129 fish today.

It was a good day, a very good day.

Everything was caught on a KVD 1.0 square bill crank.

And away we go! ?

Looks like I’m going to miss the chance to buy y’all a round. Got truck issues and a trailer blow and I mean blow out!  Had to go to the house. Catch ya next time and good luck.

Was there from 3/7 to 3/13 fishing mid lake. Didn't break the 4lb mark but caught plenty of 2 - 3 1/2 Lb. bass in 2-5 ft of water. Watermelon red and june bug color plastics. Thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated.

Right now I wish I could sling a go deeper cricket ?. Slinging money at parts and mechanics instead ?

Sounds like there is a good young crop. Future looks good.

Gonna be making a trip next week. Staying across lake from indian mounds. Any word from that area? Probably gonna check the backs of the little fingers of indian mound and the wind blown exposed humps.

I feel it might be best to either trailer or run north. Anyone could sway my decision either way?

Not if I can help it lmao.

I hate wearing shoes...

Man this lake is fishing so good right now. Like I haven't seen it like this in a few years.

Just goes to show how good this lake still is when you remove all the tourney and vacation angler pressure.

Hopefully the vacation guys  and tourneys go back to Toledo.  Conroe looks like a top 150 tourney with 600 boats fishing it?  Never had so many people drop a pin on my brush while I was fishing it ever.

Is the boat launch at North Toledo Bend State Park open?

Called 'em, boat launch open 8 - 5.

Well the bite is still going strong but the size is down.

Been averaging 40 fish a day, anywhere's from 1 foot too 12 foot of water. Most fish I'm finding are stagged up in 6 to 8 foot on humps, ridges and grass lines.

Strange thing is I'm getting my best bites on Trig plastics.

Y'all mark this post. Come next spawn if sra doesn't jack with the water too much we will see a near record setting spawn next year.

Reason I say this is due to the lake conditions at the start of this spawn the vast majority of fish never came up and spawned out deep. If the water stays stable till next spawn the banks will be loaded to the max with 3 to 5 pounders next year.

I think everyone with a boat is quarantined on a lake. Toledo ramps full. Fished couple afternoons with decent numbers of smaller fish up shallow on south end with wacky rig. Didnt throw much else as I was just passing time.

I was on Toledo Tuesday through Friday this week.  Worked from the camp some and fished some.  We caught a lot of bass, probably 200 or so in 12-18’ on Arigs and crankbaits.  Had a lot of 4-5lb fish mixed in with the 1-3lbers.  Had a blast.  But, what was even better was catching HUGE crappie over tips in 20-25’.  We loaded the boat everyday!

Awesome!!! Now that's how to quarantine
