Thanks... Yeah... I kinna figured paying would get better security than not paying. Do you know if there's any vegetation up the river? Pads? Hydrilla?.... anything? Guess I'll find out for sure when I get there but a little advance info never hurts.

I dont know about the river and any aquatic vegetation, dont get up the lake that far.

  • Well two days in & only 3 fish ?   But one was tagged BassCashBash which I was registered in, it won me a 2019 Dodge Ram!

I thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread after hearing the bad news of @Catt's passing.  I don't fish Toledo Bend but this is a very interesting read for anyone.  I know Tommy took a lot

I ain't been fishing much lately, too  much spent in examination rooms.

I hearing the lake is fishing very well with pretty much any technique working shallow or deep.

The up coming Big Bass Spash should feature some really nice fish. I will predict 10.5-11# to win overall & 4.5 to cut a check.

Thanks for the report and predictions. I haven't been hearing any reports. Good to hear the lake is fishing well.

Sorry to hear you hadn't been on the water much. Hope that changes for you soon.

Pretty good prediction Catt! Almost dead on with the winning fish. I saw a some 3s cash but most fish had to be 4+

I thought about it but I've never fished from a boat at night and it'll be a new moon

is the shoreline illumination enough?

That I cant answer for you.

For me it would be plenty of light but I have extremely good night vision and can do things in the dark most wouldnt even attempt to try.

I use a small red led headlamp when I need too put on a new bait are cut and retie but other then that I dont have any lights on in the boat.

It was 112 degrees mid day last Sunday as I was doing 70 on 171 headed to many.

Yes i have. Fished the spillway last weekend.

I was thinking maybe a night trip report.

I have always heard if you find the grass, you will find the bass.  I am having to get into that mindset as most of the areas I fish you are dealing with wood or stickups.  I have been studying maps, and my navionics.  I keep telling myself that I will not (no matter how good it looks) fish the bank this year.  Kind of hard to pass up some stuff, but I figure I can make longer casts to it... ;)   So in the month of March, I am thinking white spinnerbait w/gold willow blades, fluke, rogue, jig/pig, and senko.  Anything I am missing?

The repentant bank beater...

It’s hard to get away from the banks without some sort of decent electronics.  Trust me I still don’t have any cause I’ve been saving for so long just to see what is down there.  That being said I’ve had to rely on my surroundings and dragging crank baits or rattle traps to read what is under me.  It sucks it gruesome and painful at times but trust me it’s worth it if you get on that offshore bite.

Welcome Moose. It takes a fisherman with alot of patience and perseverance to fish offshore especially with no electronics. Agree its all worth it when u get that bite!

No electronics!

First off fishing offshore doesn't necessarily mean fishing out on the main lake. Most trips I seldom get out of Housen, 6-Mile, or wherever. I maybe a couple of long cast from the shoreline or out on a creek channel.

Learn to look at the shoreline, not where the dirt gets wet but farther up. Get yourself a map, look at the map & try to find it on the water.

Maps show roadbeds, try to find where they enter the water.

Be patient & persistent!

Catt my problem with that is that most of the lakes i fish near me there are no maps available to my knowledge.  Tried tons of resources to find them but as soon as I get caught up on some projects I plan on making my trips up to the bend.  I am very familiar with Rayburn but want to learn Toledo hence why I’m here.  I do try to read the surroundings as much as possible looking for topography changes such as tree lines, breaks, ditches, run outs, bird activity ect..  ordering a hook n line next check and really enjoy the content and people here.

Fished around housen a little bit this weekend. Not much to report. Stayed offshore 10 to 25 ft.  Only a few spots and dinks.

I did go to Bassfanatic's seminar Saturday. Great content! Would highly recommend it.

Aug 23, went out between rain storms fishing a drop off from a 10’ flat to 25-30’. I had 3 bites. Missed the first bite on a Carolina rigged fluke. The next bite on the c-rig was 6.5. Fished a while with no bites so I repositioned on the drop in 15-17’ and casted a big crankbait. Caught another at 6.25. Then the wife called and said AC unit was having issues. Pendleton bridge got covered with rain, so I headed back in. Main lake 1215 area. 06D4BF66-1B0E-4E73-A0B3-DBB4BC5947DF.jpeg.8e39d376703ac48ef4d4445a9006454d.jpeg2C2E8296-41B3-434E-A947-F068D377820B.jpeg.19fd8263f5f37a7a1ba94aa287eae468.jpeg

I guess everyone is hunting. I'm going to the Bend on Monday and wanted to see if anyone was catching. I'll post a report when I get back.
