btoups Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Fished all morning around the blue lake area and caught 1 bass around 3 lbs on a chatter bait fishing bushes and missed one on a crank bait. Took a break for lunch and fished all afternoon and my son caught one bass around 3 lbs on a trig zoom speed draw fishing a bank with hay grass in the Patroon area not far from Holly Park Marina.  Any suggestions for tomorrow with a forecasted 10-20 mph SW wind?  Our rental cabin is in Patroon.   1 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 I fished from about 30 mints after I posted that pic till 5pm. Â Me and my new neighbor went out near the house. I boated 3 keepers between 14.5 to 16.5 inches, put back 7 dinks, missed 3 fish. Â He had 2 keepers in the same size range as what I landed jump the hook and missed 5 or 8 bites. Â Not a bad start to the season. Didnt really fo after them hard, just jumped in the first cove out the wind. Â Fish were scattered, some holding tight and shallow, some holding out in 2 to 3 foot of water. Â 4 inch swimbait was the bait today. Neighbor tryed a couple of diffrent trigged plastics and missed every bite he had. 2 Quote

btoups Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Fished this morning in the back of Martinez Creek. My son and I caught 8 keeper sized bass and one undersized.  Largest one was only about 2lbs. Most were caught on a black and blue bladed jig and a few on a June bug colored baby brush hog Texas rigged. I also caught a catfish on a spinner bait and accidentally snagged a carp over 20lbs with the bladed jig. I thought I hooked a stump until it started swimming. Lol.  Fished the backs of a couple coves in Patroon this afternoon and caught 4 keeper sized bass and missed a couple others.  Water was dirty and water temps were around 58. 3 Quote
Back to Front Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Fished this morning at the Indian Mounds. Caught 7 keepers and 2 throw backs. All caught on wacky rig senko in about 2-5 foot of water. Water temperature was 62 in very back of the cove. 1 Quote
A5BLASTER Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Just came off the water. Â Fish are scattered into lil groups. Some holding so tightly to cover you basically have too beat them out if it, the rest are holding off cover in the 2.5 to 3.5 foot range. Â Had 26 bites today, 3 broke off, 9 jumped the hook, the rest got landed of those 5 were good eating size fish and headed for the grease this weekend. Â 4 inch swimbait in baby bass color was the bait today. Â Wind was simply brutal today. Â More size showed up today, compared to yesterday and the day before. Think we have a push of fish about to make their move up. In the next 24 to 36 hours. Â Change yalls undies, kiss the wife goodbye fellas it's time too be on the water. 2 1 Quote
Old Nitro Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Excellent! Did you happen to notice what the water temps were? 1 Quote

Off had I remember seeing 58 to 59 out in the open water when I leavt the house and 59.5 to 60.5 in the coves this was around 9:30 this morning. Â When I headed home, coming out the cove I was in the graph said 62.3 if I remember correctly. Â My pasty white legs and arms got a bit red today lol. 1 Quote
btoups Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Last day of my family’s Toledo Bend trip. This morning my son and I fished Wilson creek and caught about 10 keeper sized bass with a couple small fish. No real size today. Most fish were caught on bladed jig and trigged baby brush hog.  All fish were released.  Fish were scattered today with most being caught in about 3 feet of water but not holding to cover. They just seemed to be in random area on the flats. We had a great trip and can’t wait to come back. 3 Quote

A5BLASTER Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Just came off the water for a lil lunch break. Â Finding a few bites this morning. Vast majority are short buck bass. Â Did break off a good fish and landed another legal keeper. Â Then this happened. Â 7.53lber. Not a bad start to the season. Â Fish were holding in 2.5 to 3 foot on the edge of a sand flat/spawning flat. Â Kvd 1.0 crank in a pearl/black back color. 5 Quote
btoups Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Nice fish A5.   I again want to thank all of you who have posted in this forum both recently and in the past. It is a great resource especially for people like myself who have very little experience on Toledo Bend. My family and I had a great trip and can't wait to come back.   2 Quote
btoups Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I forgot to mention that we saw about an 8' alligator sunning on the bank in the back of Corsey Creek(this is the name on Google maps) in the Patroon area Tuesday afternoon. I'm not sure how large of an alligator population there is on Toledo Bend. We see them daily here in Lafourche Parish. 1 Quote

LovestoFish Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Saw a huge one in very back of housen two years ago that was 8+ feet in a narrow creek...turned the boat and went the other way ? 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 26, 2023 Author Super User Posted February 26, 2023 My latest count shows 27 double digit bass entered into the Toledo Bend Lunker Program! Â Again this doesn't include those entered into the ShareLunker program or those not entered into any program. 4 Quote

I think that's been upgraded already. Freind of mine that was up for the weekend was reading something published online saying it was 31 double digit bass now.  This was around 12ish today. So let's ask this.  If you had to fish water say 4 foot depth and less for big bass. Say 8lbs are bigger  What would you want. Grass or Wood?  Intrested in everyone's thoughts. Then I will release my data I have compiled over the last 6 years. Quote
