I am not sure how many of you live near me but if you do and have heard anything or seen anything please help us and call the number at the bottom of the article. The girl in the article is my daughter and we have not found the guy as of yet. If you cannot offer any help concerning this guy please pray that we catch him.

Thank you very much for your time

Glad you ALL are ok Mrs Matstone at least you dont have to wory about him coming back there.Hopefully he will walk into a house that calls  9MM next time

Wow!

That is terrible.

I do have a suggestion. Even if you don't want a dog, you might consider one. It doesn't have to be big, the bark is what counts. We have a Corgi (Malcome) and he is the best pet we have ever had. He can't actually whoop-up on our cats, but no one that comes to our door knows that.

Agreed. The simple bark of a dog can do a lot.

i'm sorry to hear about this, and hopefully he gets caught.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers and suggestions. I really appreciate them. The suggestions are great, I actually have 5 dogs and in my case my error in judgement was that I confine the dogs at night. They are not allowed to roam the house. The dogs were confined to a  room on the other side of the house and with the doors closed and all of the air conditioners running you could not hear a thing. This is no longer the case the dogs have free roam. Even our neighbors who have outside dogs never heard this guy. This guy new what he was doing. Probably has been watching. As for the gun I do have some but being as we do have children and alot of neighborhood kids here playing sometimes they are always kept in the safe. The thing is that I have always had the misconception that their would be time to get the pistol. The reality is that there is no time, as I found out the other night. In the case that he may return there is a 45 calibur kimber automatic anxiously awaiting for him.

My children now sleep with me and my husband is sleeping on the couch with pistol in hand. My children no longer feel safe in their own home and that just eats away at me. This guy has to be caught. I am doing everything in my power to find him. I cannot let  this perv get away.

Thanks for taking the time to read the article. Keep praying, I know I will and wont rest until he is caught.

My wife is from Penna and her relatives leave the doors open most of the time, with no worry about anyone entering their home.

Now that you know there is a predator in your area may I suggest a central alarm system?

You can put the alarms on your doors and set it to "stay" when you are in the house and "away" when you leave the premises.

No dog; no gun; just a lot of ear bruising noise if anyone tries to enter the dwelling via the doors.

Of course, you will have to change your lifestyle and keep the windows closed and locked.

The "central station" alarm will call the local police, automatically.

Thank goodness all is OK with your family.

What a terrible scare.

Wow I'm a little south of you and I didn't notice that in The Morning Call online edition (I only get the weekend paper). Thanks for the heads up.

Something similar happened to me years ago when I lived in Lehighton, to my oldest daughter when she was 12 and home alone. But the perpetrator never got past the back porch . One bit of advice the police told us to do, which cost almost nothing, was to get ourselves some alarm company stickers and put them on front and back doors (Premises protected by). They said to get the real ones from a real company, not the fake ones because the criminals know the difference. They said every little bit of deterrence helps. I hope they catch him real quick, sure does shake you, doesnt it.

And thanks for the reports and pics of bass in the Delaware river. I work 2 minutes from it and don't fish it. After seeing some of those bass, maybe it's time to head down there during the lunch hour.

This is why I have my house alarm set at night to "instant" Once everyone who is supposed to be inside the house is in for the night, I set alarm to "instant". That way, if an intruder opens a window or door the alarm goes off instantly. You don't wanna be in the house when this happens. I set it off purposely to see what it was like. Words cannot describe.

Sounds like you need to invest in a house alarm. Weapons and dogs are never enough. I have a 8 year old American Pitbull Terrier....probably the worst watch dog on the planet. They are just to trusting by nature. Now....Dalmations on the other hand..... :)

On a related note, I am a big fan of the show "It Takes a Thief" on Discovery. One episode had John break into a house where the macho tough guy owner was bragging about his Staffordshire Terrier and German Shepard. Saying how John would be torn to shreds, blah blah blah, my dogs are man eaters etc etc.... Wouldn't ya know, John was able to pop a window and hop into the living room while the dogs just stood there.  ;D

I am sorry to hear of what happened.  Greatfully your daughter is ok.  I really really hope they catch that scumbag.

Good to hear everyone is ok.  I hope they catch the crack head and lock him up for a long time.

Prayers for you and the family. I know it takes time to adjust to this, Me and my family went through a similar situation, you can't put a time limit on it. I think it was almost a year for me to relaxe a bit.

Criminals are running amuck around us, between the predators and drug dealers and users and a non-sensor social society our kids haven't got a chance. somewhere in there life time they will be affected by two or more of those dangers I mentioned. >:(

even tho we have it, you still can't count on "911" saving you.

Your husband is doing exactly what I did,

You can only educate your kids about firearms, I try to take the curiuosity out of my kids by allowing them to shoot with me. I've explained the dangers of freinds being curiuos as well. I've had us all go thru firearm training. (this helps because you can freeze up under attack)

I'm very prejudice, and its against predators, thieves, illegal drugs and or alcohol substance abuse- not color.  Wipe these out and we could have a better place for the kids to enjoy.

Sorry to hear about your terrifying experience and my prayers are with your family. This is why I am firm beleiver that if some creep tries to break in you house you should be allowed to shoot them right on the spot. There are some crazy people running amuck and it gets worse everyday. You can't even send your kids to school without fear of being harmed.
