My buddy has a huge thing agianst rabbits. So he shoots any one that come on his land. I asked him if he ate them. He told me that was gross. I told him rabbits are pretty good. So he keeps asking me if I would want the rabbits. I tell him if he skins and cleans them I would. Now the only rabbits I have eaten were raised for food. Would I have to worry about any thing with wild ones? Also iam I the only one on these forums that has eaten them?  

The first thing I would think is  1 I wouldn't take them unless there in season no matter who shoots them you still have to prove you didn't.  2 have a hunting license because your going to be possessing wild game and you need a license.   Make sure your not takeing more than the daily limit with you.   I would not take them unless there in season becaused they have been illegally taken.     But too answer your question.  Around here atleast I'm not sure about where your at its ok to eat them during the cooler months because there isn't a risk for worms.   Since the season is in the cooler months its not a problem.  I don't eat them my father in law does so I whack them and give them to him.  Only in season.   I wouldn't eat them in the warmer months or so I have been told.    

Hot or cold weather has nothing to do with it. A rabbit taken in 80 degree weather is just as good as one taken in cold weather. I have eaten wild rabbit for 50 years and do not worry about it. The rabbit taken in warm weather is bad is wrong. Look for spots on the liver,no spots,good bunny. They can have spots in 0 degree weather. If a human or animal has a disease it does not go away because the weather turns cold. If that was true everyone who had cancer or TB would move to North Dakota.

I have ate a lot of werid foods in my life. From frogs to bugs. I think I would try the raw hourse just to add it to my list.

And you do not need a license to posess the meat.  If that was the case, my grandmother would be in jail for a long long long time as I keep her freezer full of trout, squirrel and deer.

They are completely safe. I have hunted them for four years now. Have 47 kills and 6 misses. We eat every one of them, they are good in pot pie.  ;D

Maybe where you are but not here.  Get caught doing it here and see what happens.  If you have any doubts about it I can send you the Reg book I have it next to me.   I would still check your state regs where ever you live.

rabbit is very good , during the times that wild onions are plentyful they can have that flavor. I was born and raised on wild game to me there's nothing better than squirrel, deer, and rabbit. not even beef

I agree, but here in Missouri, we rarely take a rabbit in temperatures over 80 degrees.  Our season runs from October 1st to around February 15th.
