Your favorite Jerkbait???

Featured Replies

I planning on stocking up on some more jerkbaits for the next prespawn and summer.  What do you guys recommend i get?  I'm mainly a smallmouth hunter, but i occasionally target for LMB too, so any jerkbaits from the 2 1/2 '' - 4'' will suffice (nothing too big or too finesse).

thx  ;D

I have a fairly extensive collection, but fish very few.

My three favorites are: Lucky Craft Pointer 100, Baby

Bass;  Rapala Husky Jerk HJ10, Silver Blue;  Rapala

X-Rap XR08, Glass Ghost.

Here on St. Clair, these are my most productive jerkbait/slashbaits:

Rapala X-Rap size XR08 3 1/4" & XR10 4"

Bomber Long A 4 1/2"

XCalibur Xt3 Twitchbait 3 1/8"

Alot of people like the Lucky Craft Pointer, but I honestly catch more on my X-Raps.

Falcon

For smallies (at least here in the Northeast), it's hard to beat an X-Rap in the usual colors.  Plus, they cast really well.  I've had good success with the Husky Jerks too, but a lot of guys don't like them.  I do find they are a little hard to throw on baitcasting gear, so I usually throw them on spinning.  I've had a lot of success on the Lucky Craft Pointers too, but there are a TON of pike and pickeral in the lakes up here that like to steal them from you, so I don't throw them as much.

I HATE PIKE!!!!!!!! >:)

X-rap you can't go wrong X-rap X-rap ;D ;D 8-)

Another vote here for the Smithwick Rattling Rogue!  I use both floating and suspending models.  One of my favorite colors is black back, gold sides and silver belly.  The largemouth tear it up in the spring.

You can't beat a Smithwick for shallow jerkbaiting. It may look a little big but even 10" fish have no problem choking it down. If you find aggressive prespawn fish on a wind-blown area, it is the only bait you need.

MB visions, pointers, and rogues - there's one for every occasion!

Pointers by far.

Rapala  -  X-Raps (preferred) and Husky jerks.  Also picked up a bunch of Yozuri's at Dicks on sale that are pretty nice as well.

Long lean redhead in a litttle black dress, they certainly catch a lot of jerks :)

Pointer... might just be a confidence thing.

Smithwick suspending rogue black back, silver middle, gold belly.

I use mostly X-raps and Pointers.  Been having a couple X-raps fall apart, but I have been told that if I send them back, they will ship me new ones, so I am collecting a stockpile of busted ones.  So, for fun fishing, it is fine, but after loosing a fish in a tourney, I am skeptical about throwing them over the pointers during Ts.  Like the look and action of the X-rap better though.

Picked up a Diawa DB minnow with my last *** order.  Anyone any experience with those?

smithwick suspending rogue has never let me down. The only one i use

It's hard to beat many of the baits that have been listed. My personal favorite is a TD Minnow SP in the yellow spot color. I catch a bunck=h of fish on the jerkbait in all types of condition. Very effective during schooling times in the summer and in the winter for fish that are suspending.

Are yours like mine and have most of the paint missing? :) Yellow spots when the sun is out and olive back when it is cloudy.

Yep...My chrome is GONE but it still catches fish. I will have her ready in the AM for some jerkbait action.
