The water level has dropped atleast 15ft and now there are weeds from shore to 40ft. out. I am a shore fisherman and looking for tips on how to fish light cover. There are just alot of weeds,i threw a frog, and a spinner bait but i had a hard tome ripping the spinner bait through there. What else do you guys suggest,im going to head out there ina few hours. thanks.

Texas Rigged worms are always good.

Perfect place for soft plastics. I like to rig them on a Slider spider head more than a t-rig. The light wire hook is fine unless you plan on 5#'s. A jig would also work.

+1 to that.  Lots of action on the lure too.  Ragetails always work well for me.

Try using a fluke or a swimbait with a hidden hook. Many time the young of the year blue gill and shad will use the vegatation for cover giving the bass an easy meal.

Your are wasting your time trying to fish large weed flats from shore, unless you know where a deeper channel or weedline edges are. Look for clear areas or pockets where the weeds don't cover the area completely. If you manage to hook a good bass, you may not be able to land it in the grass.

My suggestion; go down near the dam or marina and fish the deeper water with soft plastics like Texas or slip shot rigged worms. Fish the open weed bed pockets with a trick worm or frog.

If the cover will allow it, you might also want to give a chatter bait a try or swimming a jig w/o the chatter.  A white jig might draw some attention.

As others have already mentioned, fishing weeds from shore is a two edged sword. 1st you're limited to types of lures, namely tx rigged, unweighted plastics. frogs, Horny Toads, and Flukes (not nose hooked). And even if you do indeed hook a Bass, landing it in heavy weeds is a iffy situation a best. I would spool my reel with 30 or even better, 50 lb braid and use a 3 ft flouro leader. The Braid will help you cut through the weeds.  

If possible I would look for the edges of the weeds from the shoreline and work those areas as your 1st option.
