How often do you fish?

Featured Replies

I have my entire life to fish.I don't need to get it in all at once

You know, you could be run over by a jet-ski tomorrow. You better get back to fishing. ;)

(and I do hope that you're never run over)

I'm a self employed small business owner and a musician, and husband with 5 grandchildren. Noboby else in the family fishes. I can only get my boat out one weekend a month, so my monthly fishing trips are always 24 hours in the boat fishing for bass, stripers, and catfish.

i make it out at least once a week, sometimes twice.

it all depends on my work schedule, and when my girlfriend has off.

thats a good way not to jinx some one.

I fish about 25 tournaments a year almost weekly.  I usually fish two to three times a week including tournaments.  My tournaments are about 6 hours long but I rarely am able to fish for that long with I'm non tournament fishing.  I usually keep those trips about 3 hours long.

i actually fish every saturday/sunday of every weekend, about 3 hours each time.  if not in the morning, i go a few hours before the sun sets.

best thing about it.  Nobody really complains that i fish, it gives me something to do and it makes me happy.  even if they dont fish, they give me no greif except when the bait monkey pulls at my sleeve  :)

most of the time, my wife is sleeping when i leave for fishing and when i get back she is just waking up.  so nothing is missed and she can sleep in!!!!   ;)

I fish whenever I get a chance, usually 3-4 times a week each time gone out no less than 3-4 hours usually more and I have tournaments from March to October. Luckily I have an understanding wife that doesn't care that I fish that much

Living on the water, I fish every day, either in the canal, or, out of my boat. There are some days though, that my spine says "not today pal", so I usually organize my tackle on those days.

like others have said, not as much as i would like to, but i average 2 weekends a month, when not constrained by tournament time, then all day,,,,takes time to learn,,

I usually fish four or five times a week most of the fishing season.

I usually fish 8-10 tournaments a year, a few of them are only 3 hour "after work" tournaments, the rest are full 8 hour affairs. As for non-tournament fishing, I get out after work for 2-4 hours on average 2- 3 times a week from ice out till ice up, and also I get 1 full day in on the weekends when if I am not working or have family obligations.

I have my lovely wife and 8 grandkids, full time day job and I'm a musician at my church, so I don't get near as much fishing done as I would like.

I average around 6 hrs./ week from March through October, plus a week every year trout fishing in Colorado.

I fish every day year round. On average about 5 hours saltwater and 2 or 3 freshwater, schedule varies with seasons.

You....  Complete.....  ME......   ::) ;D ;D ;D

you had me at every day..........   LOL

The fewest I've been on the water has been 2 days a week. For the past month or 2 I've been fishing 3-4 tournaments per week. I've got my paychecks budgeted very carefully allowing me to do this.. no eating out, no movies, no fun n games.. strickly fishing. I dream of it, and think of it constantly. What can I say I've been addicted for 17yrs now... ate age 19 fishing is all I wanna do.!  :D

...at 19 I wasn't even thinking about fishing. The ladies had my undivided attention. Now I fish twice a week, year-round and loving every minute of it.

lol... I have a wonderful girlfriend who I've been with since 8th grade.lol... She loves to fish with me and she got her hunting license this year to hunt with me. I think I caught a ''keeper''!

It varies with my workload. I'm self employed, and flexible with time -unless work piles in. My priorities are: family (wife and son), job, community, self. Since my family does not fish much -so many competing venues -fishing time is mostly in the self category.

My goal is twice a week, but sometimes, like this summer, it's been MUCH less. In the spring I've been doing spawning behavior observations the past three springs (no fishing involved), and this is an every other day investment. I burn a lot of 'clout' during this period.

For a lot of my life, except for some college years and before having a family, I fished around 150 days a year.

Follow your bliss, but don't be selfish. 8-)

Lately we've been averaging about twice a week.

Good point.  I've gotten around the "selfish" obstacle by getting the little lady involved in fishing 8-)

As for the Bait Monkey, a fishing wife is the best bandage for the conscience, but it doubles the expense >:(

Since the day we were married (1964), every one of our vacations has been a fishing vacation, without exception.

It's all Lois ever wants to do...well, almost all ;D

I usually fish every weekend with my dad from March to late October or early November.  Then on weekdays I might occasionally go to my grandma's pond.

me and my buddy go anywhere from 2-5 times a week...6-8 hrs at least a time...and we've been known to stay through the night and fish through the next morning ,like 15 hrs straight fishing and barely catching a breath to grab a sandwich on the boat...i think we have a problem

with work im lucky to go once a week

to answer the question- NOT ENOUGH!

I go every weekend in the morning for 3-5 hours then in the evening for another 2-4 hours, both days.  I also go on Friday evenings as I only work till 11:30 on Friday.  Sometimes I go for a couple hours during the week after work if I feel up to it.  When it isn't so hot, I will stay out for longer periods.  I lucked out in the wife department, she has no problems with this schedule!!   ;D

I get out on average once every 2 weeks. I absolutely love to fish, however, I get out enough to take care of my craving.  Family and career come way before fishing. There are only so many hours in the day.

FD

I'd say I average 2 trips a week for about 4 hours each. I fish hard water longer than softwater as far as hours per trip
