What hooks do yall use for plastics?

Featured Replies

As many of yall know, I am a 13 yr old angler in Ga.  My go to bait has to be soft plastics.  Especially texas rigged Senko knockoffs.  Untill very recently I have been buying what I need for a particular fishing trip, and nothing else.  So all I have had are a 100 pack of 1/0 Mustad worm hooks.  Now I am trying to stock up on stuff.  What hooks do yall use - that I can get rather cheap?

I really like the Gamakatsu EWG's but ever since Randall showed me the Owner Rig N' Hook its all I've used.  Owners are more expensive, but there awesome hooks.

I use Gamakatsu EWG's most of the time.

Owner offset wide gap worm hooks

Owner hooks for me.

I use Gamakatsu EWG hooks, great hook, great price. They are probably the most popular hook you will find. 3/0, and 4/0 will cover about 90% of you basic bass fishing needs. Step up to 5/0 for things like frogs, big 10" plastic worms, or go down to 2/0 for small finesse presntations. If you do a lot of skipping under docks/tree's, you might want to look in to Gamakatsu new Skip-Gap hook, it will function the same as the standard EWG in normal presentations, but has and extra "bend" on the shank to help hold the head of you plastic bait on while skipping it. I plan on getting some of thee before next season starts.

I have to go with senko77 choice of the Owner Rig N' Hook.  The 2/0 an 3/0 will work for almost every plastic.  The EWG is a nice choose aswell and they come in red.

Gamakatsu EWG exclusively.  One of the few products I will advertise for free.

I use a few different hooks.EWG hooks for c-rig or larger profile plastics like a horny toad.I like a straight shank worm hook for most of the plastics I throw.I feel it is important to get the right size hook for the size plastics you throw.I use a  3/0 worm hook on a 5" senko, for example.

Gami ewg's are the only hooks I will ever use for my plastics.

For soft plastics I use Gamakatsu and X-Point 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks the majority of the time, occasionally 3/0 on smaller baits.

Add me to the Owner group.............but I will use Gammy's as well............You really cant go wrong with either..... ;D ;D ;D

mustad's you are using are good hooks or at least I like them. I also use eagle claw's lazer sharp they are a little cheaper..I'm from GA. also.

I use round bend straight shank Owner hooks for most T-rigged worms.  For thicker plastic baits such as lizards and brush hogs, I usually go with an EWG.  For Senkos, I use the Texposer stickbait hooks (I highly recommend those!).  I'm working offset round bend hooks into the rotation for C-rigs, but this is a newer project.
