Good Spinning Reel For Under $100.00?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, what we would be a really good spinning reel for me to buy for under a $100.00? I was thinking probably an Abu Garcia reel, and not sure which kind of rod to go with. But just wanted to know what yall had to say. Just ready to upgrade.

There are so many good spinning reels in the 50.00-100.00 range . It's really hard to choose.

Nearly every spinning reel out there is fairly decent these days, from a $39 trion up to top of the line Daiwas, Shimanos, Abus and Quantums plus so many more. It almost makes no difference what you buy, it will get the job done.

It's all trial and error, my favorite may not be yours.

I still love my Pflueger Presidents. I know there are probably better ones out there, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

A friend has a nice Shimano that is very smooth, we'll see if he'll chime in, he's "pikesnogle" on here.

Shimano has several good reels for under 100. The Abu Garcia cardinals used to be really good reels but I haven't bought a new one for several years so can't say much about them today. Pflueger makes several nice reels under 100. My suggestion is to go to your local BPS, Cabela's, Gander, whatever you have close and feel several reels. Take the rod you'll be putting it on if you can. Some reels feel better on one rod but you may not like the feel of it on another rod.

I recently asked the same question. I have heard a lot of good things about the pflueger presidents and shimanos. I found last year's model daiwa exceler on sale, which also got good reviews. It is a great reel. As other's have said, there are a lot of good reels at that price.

Shimano Symetre

Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. This is a real you will enjoy for many

years. I recently bought one myself. At the pricing point it is a "best value"

and compares favorably with higher priced Shimano reels. I'm confident you

will like the Symetre 2500FJ.

Cabela's Tournament ZX, especially when on sale.

Wal-Mart $36 Shakspeare. 10 bearing, very smooth. I have 3. I also have a Pflueger supreme, good as well, but not better IMHO.

IMHO with spinning reels you can get away with spending musch less than a baitcaster. for spinning I would go with a shimano sedona. $60 and will last you a long time. as for baitcasting reels I usually spend a minimum of $120. which would be the shimano citica.
