Where Do You Take Your Reels To Be Spooled With Line?

Featured Replies

I have 9 reels that need fresh line for a big, upcoming tournament, Is this too many reels to take to Dicks or Sports authority to have spooled with their machine? I have my own line for each reel........ That or there is a college kid on my street who can do it for me.....

Lol!

Its pretty simple to do man. I wouldn't bother with asking anyone to do it for me. The experience is good to know, and you could probably save enough to be able to buy another spool of line. From the spool, go back thru your guides, tie a decent secure knot to the spool. Hold steady tension as you are filling the spool up. There are usually lines or some sort of mark on the spool, I usually go about 5-7 cranks before or after my line reaches that mark. Not much too it at all.

I bought a Berkley portable spooling station years ago and always do it myself. They are about $30 and are easy as pie.

I enjoy respooling my reels. I find it relaxing. Its part of my preparation for tournaments

This^^^

That $30 investment also gets you a battery-powered line stripper. ;)

this. spooling a spinning reel can be tricky so take your time. i find it easier to have a helper and spool from a distance.

depends....could be in my chair, on my dining room table, my garage, or on my deck or lawn. do it your self. no need for a line stripper when you have a drill and pencil or dowel

Is this serious?

I send my reels to Roadwarrior for re-spooling. He charges me only $100 a reel if I supply the line. He's a saint and is very fair with his prices. Don't you think?

My couch.

This was going to my my exact answer. All I need is a pencil and nail clippers.

I'll do them for $50 a piece if you pay the shipping, supply the line, and send a buddy to hold the spool. ;)

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a tackle shop spool your reel if you have just purchased the reel and new line.

But this is not the case here, we have someone who is just looking for some cheap labor

Long Mike,

Great news! You're now entitled to the "Moderator Discount".

Bet this is the last question he will post.

Sad.

If it is his last post it is very sad. Check his profile, more importantly his age. I'm sure some, probably most of us knew how to do this when we were 15. But I have known all kinds of 30yr old that have picked up a rod when they were in my boat for the first time. It would be ashame if he was pushed away because he though he was being heckled. If you dont know the answer, then ask a question. Nothin wrong with that.

I take mine to the living room. Or the basement. Or wherever I happen to be at the time.

People need to update their status so we know a little about where people are located. If anybody needs their reels spooled,I'll be more than happy to show them how.

That berkley station makes my life a little easier in the spring when I respool most of my reels.

I don't make a habit of viewing profiles, I'l cut him some slack, at 15 I didn't know everything either.
