Yet again my buddy destroyed me in the back of the boat by fishing double wide sweet beavers. I refuse to use the same thing he is and have been trying to find something else the fish will like as much as those. I have tried senkos, craws, and brush hogs so far to no avail. I catch fish but he catches more. We use the same equipment and fish lots of grass. Any ideas to what I should try next? Thinking of trying rage tail products but not sure what to try out.

No, it sounds like his friend has an ego going and if he gives in to using the same thing he won't hear the end of it. Try texas rigging a rage craw or wacky worming a senko if you have not tried.

Try a Paca Craw, probably one of the very best craws you can buy.

Use a culprit worm or a yamamoto kreature. Use either with a bullet weight pegged to it.

Beat him at his own game. The reason beavers are so productive is that they glide on the fall instead of falling straight down. Use a different lure, but with a similiar fall. Try a 5" Senko with a 1/16 oz tungsten weight. It will glide to the side just like a beaver. Also, a lightly weighted tube or a keel wieghted rage craw will probably outfish him.

For flippin, pitchin or easing through grass... Smokin Rooster or Lobster would be my choice. Profile size of these two are similar to a DW Beaver but they both have much more action.

A keel-weighted smokin rooster has a similiar lateral glide. Give it a try next time that the beaver is working, if you don't want to copy your buddy.

Profile, action, speed of fall and color are the factors I consider and basically in that order... T rigged or on a weighted hook should be determined by the fish's preference since both presentations are substantially different. I always have one rigged each way, one for flipping/pitching and the other for fishing slowly over grass with a slow "lift-fall-pause" or as a swim jig presentation. BTW, we just came out with the Smokin Rooster in Falcon Lake Craw color FINALLY. Same color I've been fishing everywhere for 2 yrs. now

Beaver style baits are hard to beat in grass and they glide through the grass so easy. I'd try a Rage craw or a Havoc pit boss, both have caught me tons of fish in the weeds. What's wrong with beating someone with their own bait anyways???

its a very nice bait. the name of the guy who made that one is twisted liquid baits he has a site. he can do any color you want. on that forum there are several people who make them in sizes from 3" up to the "beast" which is a 6" monster.

Tie one of these on in your choice of color, but rig it just like this.......you'll put some serious hurt on your partner's Beaver. This rig glides through the grass like none I've fished before. Swim it, pause, swim it, pause, hop it......SET THE HOOK!

Might try a slip shotted Space Monkey, a Rage-Rigged 7" anaconda, baby thumper, craw or smokin rooster. Even a T/rigged lobster would work. Besides the glide everyone is talking about of the beaver, the color and profile at that given time is doing something right. The Rage-Rig Anaconda will fish that grass amazingly well.
