What Rod Do You Use For Fishing Wacky?

Featured Replies

Just curious what others use to fish wacky style. I'm using a 6'6" light fast rod. I love to catch fish on this rod, but I do miss and wonder if it's because of the light action.

Thanks,

Dave

Kistler helium LTA 6'6" medium power x-fast action spinning rod. Works real well

7-2 MH Fast Cumara, 7-2 MXF Cumara, 6-8 MH XF Cumara, and a 6-8 MXF Avid. Depends on which rod I've got in the boat and which isn't rigged with either a 4" Senko or dropshot.

i use either my 6'8" mxf legend elite (which is soon to be a 6'9" mlxf legend extreme) or my 6'3" mxf avid... 6'3" is a little short for most of the bass guys i know, but the casting distance is almost equal to the 6'8" and i love that rod! (mostly use it for vertical jigging walleyes, though) have used a gander mountain GSX tournament 6'6" mlf in the past as well, worked pretty decent

Every rod I have except my flipping stick, and deep cranking rod. Most often I use my 6'8" M/XF St Croix Mojo spinning rod, and my 7' M/F St Croix Legend Tournament casting rod. If I am fishing a wacky rig in heavy cover, I'll switch the 7'M/F LT for a 7' MH/F Legend Tournament.

6-6 mh johnny morris signature series spinning rod.

G-Loomis SHR822S 6'10" Mag Medium Extra Fast. It's labeled from the factory as a shakeyhead rod, but it doubles as a killer wacky-rig rod.

It depends on which plastic I'm using. A true Senko is dense and heavy enough to fish well on a M/F rod. If the cover is light or I'm thowing a much lighter worm I'll go to a ML/F.

It depends on what and where I´m fishing, so it can be anywhere from a UL rod all the way up to a H.

Either a Veritas 7' M/F spinning or a Crucial 7' M/XF Casting model.

Mostly with a 6'8' MXF Legend extreme spinning rod, sometimes with 7' MF Legend Extreme casting rod.

M-F Quantum Ignition spinning combo(very sensitive)

Ok, all, thanks for the replies! I've got a couple XF action rods I may end up trying as well as this L.

Thanks again,

Dave
