Here in NE Ohio we have 2-3 months of ice on the lakes. Anywhere from late Dec to early Jan. we will freeze until mid March. So we take a break from ice on to ice off. I more than likely fished my last time this past weekend because of commitments the next couple of weekends.

At what time during the fall/winter do you hang it up until next year (if you do at all)? Just curious....

I live on a power plant lake. snowy days in the hot hole are memorable experiences with striper and spots bunched up.

Unfortunately, from FL and I hate the cold.....what we put of with to stretch a line!

I just moved to Fl from jersey so I was kinda asking myself the same question. So its never too cold here to not go bass fishing? I'm in central Fl! Is there anything specific that I should use during the cold weather?

I'm usually done by now. But, the fish in my favorite pond are still biting. It's close to my home. I fish it from a canoe with a trolling motor. The canoe is on a friend's property at the pond. So it's convenient even if only for a couple of hours. Costs less than two bucks for the gas to get there and the electricity to recharge the battery.

Every day is a bonus, since it shortens the off season. As long as they continue to bite, I'll continue to fish until the pond freezes or it's just too cold for these old bones.

Depends on the year, But the end is getting near for me. Usually the end of Nov./early Dec. I don't think I have had my boat in open water in Dec. ever, but I plan on it this year. Hopefully safe ice is not too long behind putting the boat up. A 2-3 week break between my two seasons (bass and ice) is enough.

I try to fish all year, there is a great power plant lake about 2 hours away that is great fishing!

I usually fish on a weekly basis until December 31 of the year and continue my weekly fishing habit again in January of the next.

There is never much of a ice over here, so of the lakes might get a small sheet of ice over them. With that being said, you're probably not going to find me out there having to warm up my hands every couple of minutes.

I target bass until ice-on and then I go for trout in a faster moving river where ice is rarely a problem. So I guess my answer would be I'm never done for the year.

Putting the boat away tomorrow morning but going to fish the rivers for some late smallies until I can't feel my fingers anymore. Then the holidays get in the way.

Hey it's my first year fishing here in middle Georgia. It's the 15th Nov 79 degrees. I don't think there is a fall bite but I'll just have to wait and see I do believe I'll be fishing through winter here.

I usually don't hang it up. When the lakes freeze I simply break out the ice auger, tip-ups and jigging rod. The only time I hang it up are years when the ice isn't thick enough to walk on but that only happens maybe 1 out of every 5 or 6 years around here.

March is probably the closest I come to hanging it up. The ice is usually still on the lakes but too weak to walk on. The streams are too cold to wade in (I don't have good, insulated waders).

In Northern California I have already noticed the fishing slowing down a lot. Seems like we skipped fall and went straight to winter fishing. A lot of the lakes and Res will start stocking trout soon, hopefully that will wake these fish up.

Today. Just finished winterizing the boat.

I'm done after the firearm deer hunting season, which ran from November 5 - 13 this year. After that, the water is around 40 degrees and there's likely snow on the ground.

I get my fill fishing 6 days a week from Memorial Day opener until Halloween. I'd like to fish a little slower pace (3-5 days a week) throughout the entire year like those in the southern states, but in MN that would mean ice fishing. Talk about boring!

just started fishing in the fall after really given deer hunting an honest effort. Fishing today and still going strong in ny! gonna take the boat on candelwood this week and shut it down this weekend but i still got my jon boat. water temps are in the mid 40's and the bass are biting!
