Favorite Braid

Featured Replies

I've really only used sufix braid and I was wondering what everyone else likes.

You found a keeper already. I have used Suffix Performance Braid, Suffix 832, PowerPro, Stren Sonic Braid, and Hi Seas Grand Slam Braid. The two Suffix braids are by far my favorite.

Here are some of the many existing "best/favorite braid" topics...

Hope these are helpful.

Power Pro............is it the best/most advanced braid?? No, but it's inexpensive, does the job, and available just about every where I go. It's also never cost me a fish, or caused me any problem. So why fix what ain't broke?

ive only used a couple...spiderwire stealth, power pro, nanofil (not really a braid, but a superline none the less), 832. 832 is my favorite of the ones i have tried, i use 6 and 10lb versions, mainly in the neon lime and i have had no problems with twist, fraying, wind knots, knot strength...anything really, it is just awesome stuff! the color does bleed a bit, but as far as i have found so far, so does everythign else!

By far the Power Pro 8! Have #40 and #30, love them both.

Vicious braided line in yellow. If I can't order that then I get Fireline original Fusion.

I hate braid but if I'm doing something I have to use it for I use Sufix 832 or Stren Sonic Braid. I only use it for C-rigging and fishing grass, neither of which I do much of.

I hate braid with a passion and use it only for very specific things. When I find myself forced to use braid, there's only one I'll ever again use and that's Seaguar Kanzen.

Anyone try Tuffline Duracast? Its supposed to have slight memory to it to act more like mono to avoid tip wrap. I see FishChris endorses it as one of their prostaff.

  • Super User

I can say the same thing about mono, only use it when I'm forced to. I'm braid all the way for me and I'm not real fussy on the brand, like Grey Wolf I like to buy it on sale. I use PP and fins, 10, 15 and 20#, I did spool up 2 ocean offshore spinning outfits with 30# PP not long ago.

SPIDERWIRE STEALTH 65#.

I almost threw a spinning set up in the lake after losing a large bass due to tip wrap. Now I only use braid on my spinning reels, usually powerpro. You can spend a lot more but probably can't notice much of a difference. No more line twist either.

Been using 832 for a couple years and you couldnt prove it sinks to me.

Fish a spro frog on a long, long cast with 832 and let it sit still for about 20 seconds, do the same thing with performance braid and then tell me what you think. I have specific rods setup for specific techniques and discovered the frustration of having the wrong braid on my hollow body frog rod, quickly switched out reels and no problem.
