Super Confidence In A Bait Youve Never Thrown

Featured Replies

I purchased a couple of Bomber Square A's at BPS a few years ago. They are both Chartreuse with black backs, but there are 2 sizes. I have the smaller of the 2 sizes tied on currently. I havent been on the water yet this year, and I havent ever thrown this bait, but I just feel it in my bones its gonna produce, even if they are dinks,I just feel im gonna get bit.

Anyone have a similar feeling about a bait theyve never even thrown?

You never can tell, a few years ago I bought a BPS deep-diving crankbait, and caught 2 3lb fish on the first cast. I never caught 2 fish simultaneously on a crankbait before or since. Those crankbaits have continued to produce, and they are some of my favorite deep-divers.

When I usually fish a bait i've never thrown I go with my gut feeling.

The Fat Ika bought 2 packs havent used them yet but sure they will work.

Get 'em wet pronto! They work great. Heavy enough to give you feeling of a jig, yet light enough to work through the nastiest of laydowns. And when the bass takes it (notice I didn't say "if" a bass takes it!), it will not let go. :)

Quite confidence in the rage tail grub I haven't use just yet. Got another month to go yet for bass season to open up.

I was stoked about the 8" hudd, even tho I was about 15 hours into a dry spell that was making it hard to hold on to hope, then in hour 16 I got that thump and got my PB. I think proven baits can give you that glimmer of hope that keep you fishing, and influince those 10 hour days on the water.

Way to stick with it North Ga Hillbilly

I like the big Rage worm. I think its the Anaconda. I knew if I threw it at night it would get bit and It did and I was not suprissed.

I bought one of Mattlures bluegills a few years back. It was my first quality swimbait. I took it to Belton Lake and bounced it around on the bottom. I felt a strike and hung into something that was big enough to swing an 18ft boat around then break HEAVY line. Probably a huge flat head catfish if I had to guess. I knew I was going to get bit...didn't know it would get murdered like that. :(

If I start fishing big fish waters again, I WILL buy more of those bluegills.

Great lure, no doubt, but I just can't get psyched up about casting anything, all that time. without some action! I have several Hudds and occasionally toss them, but I'd never be able to do it for that long a time. Congratulations on your PB! I'd say you earned it! :)

Anything Okeechobee Craw, Blue Craw, Baby Bass, or some type of realistic shad variation.

When I received my first pack of Rage Tail prototypes from Steve my first thought was death in a bag.

Just to let you know how much confidence I really do have in the Fat Ika, here's the results of an hour and a half of fishing from shore this morning:

Got so excited, I locked my keys in the trunk when trying to retrieve the camera! LOL! Here's a shot before I released her back. She bolted strong. She really wasn't out of the water all that long, as the car is 25' from where I was fishing.

Nothing else to say. :)

It takes a real diffrent mindset, thats for sure. Took me a long time to get into it. Payed off again this weekend tho, at times it is worth the wait. But I have to admit, I regularly go to my closest pond and use the ultralite to relieve some stress and actually remember what a fish looks like!

I've got a couple I've never thrown because I don't have confidence in them :)

Just picked up my first jerkbait - 78SP in Ghost Minnow. Never have thrown a jerkbait for bass in my life. Call me crazy, but I have a lot of confidence in this bait, simply from all the positive posts about them on this forum.
