  1. Around here I use a blue damsil fly during the early summer. It's great topwater action. Others to use are; Streamers Muddler Poppers Deer hair mice and frogs Terestrials (ants, beatles, ect) Crayfish Weighted wooly bugger Clouser I alway have both floating and sinking line with me.
  2. You are correct. Heavy cover is the only time I peg my weight on either a short leader C-rig or a T-rig.
  3. Those colors are great for clear water but it sounds like the problem is that the bass can't see or feel your bait due to the heavy stain on the water. This is why the vibrating baits work so much better. I would recomend a few things. Try three different colors. Red Shad, Junebug, and Black. Now get a big worm with a tail that gives off vibration. I use Zoom worms most of the time so the list will give you the idea. I would use something like (Ol' Monster, Mag 11, G-Tail, or my personal favorite the Speed worm.) Now Texas rig the worm with a 1/4oz bullet sinker and put a glass bead between the sinker and the hook. This will give you added sound to get the fish's attention. Try it and let us know how things turn out.

  5. Okuma spinning reels. I'd put them up agains any high priced reel any day.
  6. 8 Spincasting 9 Spinning 26 Casting
  7. Useing a 6.2:1 for deep cranking will wear you out if you use it all day. A 5.3:1 is fine for most cranking but I love my David Fritts 4.7:1 for deep cranking. I can fish all day long and never get tired. It's not the most expensive and it's hard to adjust at first but it will cast a mile and it has enough power to get the big ones to the boat.
  8. Exactly. This is the best rod to start with. It will excell in some things and do just fine with others. You will love it. Get the best one that you can afford. Shop around and ask us questions before you buy.
  9. A few questions. What is the color and clarity of your water? What kind of cover is in it? (grass, brush, timber, rocks, ect.) What kind of structure are you fishing? (ledge, hump, point, ect) What color plastics are you using?
  10. I totally agree with that. I use my fingernails 99% of the time. It is lightning fast and I never have to look for my pliers.
  11. Do you know how to read a schematic? That is alot of wireing and very complicated for the most part.
  12. Wood floats. Tie them down.
  13. I'd use it on a shaky head.
  14. There's plenty of Georgia Boys hangin around here. Welcome to BassResource.
  15. Please use the search engine to find all the post about these two lures. You will find that they are not very well recived by those of us who fish. The company that sells them makes more money from selling your contact information to third parties then it does from you buying their junk. And please read the FAQ's.
  16. All I use is the spinning reels and I don't plan on changing brands anytime soon. Now as for the baitcasters. The first low profile baitcasters that they mad were crap but they have fixed all the bugs in them and then new ones are pretty good.
  17. Let the fish tell you that. I always try both direction. For instance, this past week the fish were on the outside weed line. After a few hits I relized that they wouldn't hit the bait if I touched the grass. So I turned around and started dragging from deep water and started getting better bites.
  18. I have used so many different attractants from powder based to oil. I have settled on two. Megastrike and JJ's Magic. Megastrike is a water based attractant that stays on for a long time. It's a pure attractant. JJ's Magic is a lure dye with a very strong garlic attractant. Both cause the bass to bite and hold on for a long time.
  19. XM Radio is the only place I can find live radio feed.
  20. Not really. That's the drawback to fishing those things. You could cut the hook off and rig a stinger with lighter line then your main line. Then when you get hung you just break off the stinger.
  21. Take it easy on him guys. There is a learning curve to this forum thing.
  22. Welcome to the forums. Here are several articles on the subject. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/seasonal.html#summer
  23. What shape head on the jig do you think is best? What about the eye of that jig? What does it look like?
  24. It great to have another leftcoster on the boat. Welcome to the family.
