  1. Just out of curiousity how are you all losing your caps?
  2. Ain't that the truth. Not sure what it is. Last year I took my wife smallie fishing.....not even a bite. Took her to my dads pond....she pulled in a couple of 3lbers and I got..........nothing. She is horrible luck. :-X ;D
  3. Jerk em 2-3 times than let it pause and sink. Experiment with your retrieve. Your goal is to make it look like a busted up baitfish. Haven't tried the Berkleys yet but soft jerkbaits put me on some nice fish last year. Early in the morning was the best time for me. Like you were saying.....you can also twitch it on the surface and make it seem like a minnow is trying to get away. Very cool. Good luck. 8-)
  4. No complaints with Owner hooks. Love em.
  5. Depends on the body of water. But usually if I'm not catching them fast than I move onto the next pond or marsh. I would say 5-8 is a good average for summer months. This year though my average has been way up. There hasn't been too many times when I have caught less than 10 fish per outing. But the dog days of summer are now starting to creep in. Being a bank angler my numbers probably will start going down.
  6. Tighten that bad boy up! Seriously I have my drag set pretty tight on my Citica 100dsv and I haven't had any problems yet with Power Pro diggin in. Also haven't had any problems with losing fish once hooked.
  7. Dangle take a look at *** for your rod and reel. No tax...at least not for me in NY and free shipping for any order over 50 dollars. Very very fast shipping. Here are your Abu's: http://www.***.com/catpage-RLCABUGAR.html May I recommend the Compre line for your rods. My favorite rod besides my St Croix Avid is my Compre 6'8" MH XF. Lifetime warranty with good sensitivity. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCSHIMANO-SCCR.html

Tent or just throw out a sleeping bag on the ground with a fire close by. Never had any issues.
  9. Thanks for the response Bobby. I know the crawfish scent works great in my local creek for smallies.
  10. Flukes sink but it takes a bit.
  11. Do NOT get rid of your spinning tackle. New to baitcasting myself and love it as well. BUT there are some things my spinning tackle does much better. Fishing weightless worms, fishing smaller plastics like grubs, fishing any lure under 1/4 ounce, etc. My baitcasters are for more heavier and power fishing techniques. It would be foolish to go to all baitcasters IMO.
  12. Never. But I'll give it a whirl at some point.
  13. Sweep and reel. If you have good hooks on your cranks than they dig in REALLY easily. No need for a homerun swing. From my limited experience anyway. Those Owner hooks are crazy sharp.
  14. Still waiting back on Bobby to give me the difference between the original formula and crawfish formula. Obviously there is one difference but was wondering if there was different properties to it as well. Anywho...been using the crawfish megastrike and where I notice it the most is when using it on my jig trailers. Like CJ said....when there spittin the bait, it's usually because I forgot to put megastrike on. Once I slab some and rub it around on my trailers....the fish pretty much swim off with the jig in there mouths. Much better hooksets with that extra time. Two thumbs up from me!
  15. Welcome fellow WNYer. More and more of us are showing up on the boards. Pretty sweet. 8-)

Hit my first 3 game parlay and won .21 cents on Friday. Bet another three game parlay for tonight. If I win than I will grab $1.00. Big money lol. It is pretty fun though. Like Brad says...if you play your cards right you can walk out with some free dough.
  17. Nice fish indeed. Sorry the Catt was so muddy for you. Like I told you before. Good rule of thumb is if it rains pretty good on any given day.........than the next day is going to be almost unfishable. But in the hours right after a good rain.....well that's another story. Them smallies come out to play! 8-)
  18. Hookerz tackle makes some pretty decent hooks for the price.
  19. Same thing with me Micro. Almost like the arms were getting caught on the body. Slow, fast, weightless....not a fan. Like the Flappin Hog much more for a kreature type bait from GYCB.
  20. Power Pro BPS Fluoro These lines have seen the most work this year. No complaints so far.

    Voted plastics.
  22. Just hope things don't get as bad as Katrina and Ritas flooding. Went down to help out a couple years back. Seeing pictures is one thing.....being in the middle of it is another. I'll keep you in my prayers Hawg. I'll even lift you guys up to fellow people in our church.
  23. It's not just a personal preference thing. Also think the type of water you fish comes into play in a HUGE way. I liked the way Yo-Zuri handles....just didn't like that I was having trouble in the rocks/shale/gravel with it. When I was fishing weeds and open water there were no issues.
  24. Fished mine for the first time yesterday. Got four fish in about 45 minutes of fishing it. No size really. One fish was snagged right through the gut. Was a 7 inch fish. Not sure what happened there. Was fishing the 3/8 Black on black. Going to use the 1/4 next. They sure do squeel and squeek though.
  25. Buffalo's very own. Always enjoyed listening to his reports and point of view.
