  1. I've had one of my Tierra's for 3 years. I wouldn't say that this reel has it easy. I use it backpacking so the outside gets plenty abused but still looks good. I use it in a float tube so it has been dunked in water numerous times. I've fished it in a pond that is full of hydrilla and every other cast feels like i'm reeling in a dead 10#er. At the end of last year it finally started making some wierd noises.... but in the 3 years of abuse... I have never serviced it and it has never failed me. It is the Tierra 2000
  2. You could always get back into painting baits :
  3. I actually just sold all my non-tierra spinning reels and replaced them with tierra's. You can find some good deals on Tierras for $75 or less for "Like new". To me, the Tierra IS silk smooth, and for me it has been very durable as I bring one of mine on backcountry hiking trips and trout trips. I've soaked mine in water by accident and finally after 3 years of abuse without servicing it, it's finally starting to show some wear. BTW - all my other reels are shimano, but the Tierra i've made an exception for! ;D
  4. I can't specifically answer your question, but can give you my experience. Google says it takes 3 hours and 56 minutes to get to my girlfriends house. Even in semi heavy commuting traffic plus a gas/bathroom/eat break I got there in 3 hours 35 minutes. 60% of the travel was going to speed limit or less. Coming home at midnight I made it back to my place with zero traffic and going 5-10MPH over the speed limit in 3 hours. I simply use it as a "approximate" time and NEVER as an exact time
  5. Just curious where your getting your info from? Yeah, Id like to know too. I wanna go back and catch pike again. I'll take one of these please

  7. I'll give a big +1 for cast industries. I've dealt with them on a few occasions and their heads are VERY clean. They have a great catolog of heads but most of them you can customize as well (I.E bigger hooks, smaller hooks, upgraded gammies, etc). The only downside is you must order in bulk (50 of one size/type). I use ***s site for my skirts. I've bought from fishingskirts . com as well but have become lazy in making jigs, so using ***s pre-made skirts is very simply and I can add colors to them if needed. I've got it to where my jigs cost less than 1.00 a piece for me to make. If you decide you don't want to make your own heads send me a PM and i'll email you the catolog for castindustries. Brandon
  8. I don't know what the funniest was, but this trip always makes me laugh

  10. Bizz - figured you would peak your head in this thread. Nice pics buddy!
  11. I saw the Google earth cars driving around West Sacramento last week. Their cars look like the car from "Back to the Future". I then decided to look at the street view by my work and saw my car parked in the parking lot. Kinda neat.
  12. I would say it's just as accurate as the 3 day... which can't be trusted.
  13. Uncrustables Beef Jerky Water/Gatorade I like to keep food under $10. It works for me
  14. BINGO! Every winter it's the same thing. Hasn't changed and doubt it will. The longer your here the more you seem to laugh and just move on.

  17. I'm really curious as to the reaction by some of the record chasers down in Southern California who have been going after this record for decades. Mattlures - Any insight by the guys down there? I know you talk to them!
  18. Nope... not anymore!! ;D
  19. LMAO How long did it take you to spell that backwards?
  20. We had one in Roseville, CA for awhile. Called "HOT Coffee". They served coffee, beer, and had appetizers for sunday and monday night football. Everytime I went it was PACKED. Unfortunately it didn't last long. Glad to see there are other places like that though ;D
  21. Found this on a local forum. I've had the honor of talking with Dave personally at a couple local tournaments. This guy is was a hilarious guy that was a blast to talk with. He is going to be missed in the swim baiting world. My thoughts go out to his family.
