You know I love Green Top, but...
I hadn't heard that, but I live 70 miles away. I Googled it and it apparently happened. A burglary. http://www.wtvr.com/Global/story.asp?S=8489409

Probably not, he doesn't sell guns. Just fishing tackle. AFAIK, there are no gun stores in that area.

How often are you "SKUNKED"?
There are only two types of people: those that have been skunked, and those that don't fish. And getting skunked means two important things: you are fishing, and you are learning.

You know I love Green Top, but...
He doesn't have any Megabass rods in the store yet, but he can get them in a few days now. He may get some for display when he moves. BTW, he's moving to a building on Rt 60 right across the street from Toano Middle School into a building that is currently the Colonial Antique Store. That means he is FEET away from Pro Tech, which is right around the corner. This will be his new store...

chain pickerel (do you eat them?)
You can soak fillets in buttermilk overnight and it will disolve the tiny bones or make then so soft you won't know they are there. Here's a wolf I caught a few weeks ago.

I went out to buy the Revo Winch, but...
I've been casting a 1/4 oz and a 3/8 oz practice plug. I can't get the distance with the 1/4 oz that I can with with my Revo, but I can with the 3/8 oz. Since this is my 'big' crank rod, that's what I want. And it's a better fit on this rod than the Revo. I had two 200DHSVs and they were just too big on the graphite rods I wanted them for - but they were excellent reels. The 200 size on this Crankshaft is perfect.

I can hear the cicada's outside
Grab some up and head to the pond.

I went out to buy the Revo Winch, but...
...ended up with this. Hard to justify a Winch for $200 when I can get a brand new 200DPV on clearance for under $150. I've been casting the Elite Tech with a Revo. It's a big, thick rod and I found myself wishing for a slightly bigger LP, but not wanting to go to a round reel. The Curado filled the bill perfectly. And man will it cast. Filled with 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid.

You know I love Green Top, but...
...when you live on the Peninsula, there just isn't much reason to drive an inch past Hooker's Bait and Tackle. I went there today. I swear, his hardcore Japanese bait selection has increased fivefold. I picked up some Jackalls (bought all the Girons he had), Deps, GYCB, and a few others. Got a bunch of Dave's Tournament Tackle Jigs and some Booyah football jigs w/o skirts. I also got a brand new Curado 200DPV (5.0:1) for my Crankshaft rod at a deeply discounted price. (BTW, he's still got a good selection of Curado and Citica Ds left.) He's also gotten the OK to start carrying Megabass rods. (This may absolutely break me, but I'm going to get one by next season.) Also, he's moving AND expanding. Darryl is moving his shop from Williamsburg up to Lightfoot (near the pottery shop) to a 4,000+ sq ft store - about double what he has now. (I think he'll put Pro Tech outta business.) He's also going on-line and will do business over the internet. I did my patriotic duty and stimulated the economy. Man, I love that store. :'(

Lizards for Spot Removers and shakey heads
I'm curious, Fluke. Because you brought this up some time ago. What is the significant difference between a Spot Remover and (Bagley)Shakey Head? I'm not talking about the physicial difference in construction/form, I know about those, but what is different about them with respect to fishing technique. I fish both and I fish them exactly the same. I have a preference for one or the other depending on the type of bottom, but other than that, what is it that makes them so different?

HUGE catfish

Ganger Mtn. sucks IMHO.
A friggin' men. BTW, I just got my rebate check. One of those two secret shops are about to make some money. Maybe both .

Ganger Mtn. sucks IMHO.
The shelves weren't completely stocked? Right after it opened? On the second visit you had a minor dispute over a free meal and the manager made it right - politely? What's your complaint?

Best conditions Rapalas Shad Rap
I fish tidal freshwater rivers, too. I have a lot of luck with Shad Raps (especially Glass Shad Raps) in the fall fishing deep in the channel during the outgoing tide.

Gamma Copolymer
Gamma handles like Cajun Red Advantage. Hated Cajun Red, hated Gamma. If you like Gamma, might as well save a few bucks and buy CR Advantage.

Anyone still use trilene XL?
YZ is OK, Maxima is OK, too. Gamma is IMO is overpriced junk. I like regular YZ Hybrid for plastics fishing, but that's it. XL and XT satisfy all my other needs as well or better than any other "designer brand" out there.

Fenwick HMX or Fenwick Eagle Gt's any good?
I have a few and I like them very much. Light, sensitive and very tough. My local tackle store seels them for $79. Good rod at that price.

The New Revo Toro
"Line out alarm?" Clearly a saltwater reel.

rod power?
Like Fletch said, it's a medium/medium. It's one of All Star's crankbait rods. I don't think the 1 1/2 oz is a typo, that's the rating on the American Classics 6'6" and 7' M/M crankbait rods, too.
