  1. Seriously, *** answered this same question a week or so ago. I just can't remember what he said it was. Maybe something installed backwards. It was simple, though. He'll be along soon, I'm sure.
  2. That Toro is nice. May add one to my striper arsenal... http://tackletour.com/reviewabugarcia2009reelspre.html
  3. I catch pickerel on just about everything. But they seem to be especially attacted to a steady, flashing retrieves. For this, Mepps Aglia in-line spinners are my all-time top producer.
  4. The ONLY reason I ever got rid of my 200DHSVs was that they were too big for the rods I wanted reels on. I just bought a 200DPV (5.0:1) reel for my Fenwick Crankshaft. For this big, thick rod the 200 size reel size is perfect. I got mine for way UNDER $150, brand new from a dealer. So there was no waiting for me. It was a no-brainer. If you wait till the new E series comes out, you may be able to find leftover Ds for half price or better.
  5. Await *** reply. He's answered this question exactly 1,235 times. This month.
  6. Firestone ATX may be no more. Firestone may have corrected every deficiency they ever had. They may be the perfect company now turning out the perfect product. But "they dun me wrong." So it's OK that I hate them forever. I know it's OK. Ask Roadwarrior.
  7. I wouldn't touch a Firestone tire on a bet. I had some of the ATX tires on my Explorer that came apart before the ***** hit the fan. Firestone told me every-whichway-to-Sunday that I was causing the tread to bubble up. Only months later when it hit the news and people strarted dying did they offer to replace the tires on my truck, but still refused to replace the spare.
  8. A dozen. Fillets aren't that big.
  9. Bluegill are fine eating - much better than LMB, IMO. In fact, if I want to catch some fish to eat I'll catch some big, honkin' bluegill. I like them better than catfish.
  10. I fish them weightless on a texposed 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook. Weightless they will stay just below the surface.
  11. Is that the same as the Berkley Powerbait Hollow Belly Swimbait? I've heard good things about them. I really like Berkley Baits. Just about everything I've tried from them works well. Recently I've been using Shaky Worms and I think they are the best I've tried yet.
  12. Answer to your first question: Yes, it's nomal. Baitcasters you are apparently familiar with had non-disengaging level winds. In other words, they move when reeling or casting. The Revo, and most other LPs and modern round reels have disengaging level winds. They only move when reeling or of line is being pulled out against the drag. The brake on the S is a centrifugal brake. As the spool spins, the little weights on the pegs are forced to the end of the pegs by centrifical force. The pegs rub against the inside of the brass ring that you see on the inside of the sideplate. The more that do so, the more braking force you get. I have a couple of Revo Ss. I have two brakes ON (weights which slide freely on their pegs), and four set to OFF (weights locked down on their pegs). The two that I have ON are directly across from each other. Some people like three ON (every other brake) and three OFF. Having them all ON will definately decrease casting distance - significantly.
  13. I only buy BFG Long Trail T/As. They are less expensive than comparable Michelins, with temperature and traction ratings that are as good, and treadwear ratings that are better. BFG tires are amopng them best available, and represent great value.
  14. No comment on the Sol, since I've never fished or owned one. But don't underestimate the ability of the STX to cast light baits. I can get really L O N G casts on my STX (and SC) when fishing weightless 4" Senkos. Likewise with 1/4 oz topwaters and other light baits.
  15. Here's some photos from the boat landing at Bent Creek
  16. If you don't mind a little bit of a drive, go up to Bent Creek, where Route 60 crosses the James River in Appomatox County. There is a DGIF boat landing there. When the water is low, the whole area is wadeable. I haven't fished it, but I've been there several times and it gets very good reviews from the fishermen I've talked to.
  17. I use the BPS Finesse Football Jig heads with screw lock. I like them a lot. The paint is very durable and the hooks are very nice - Gamakatsus. I use 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 oz heads. It's a very good head, IMO.
  18. Micro replied to Popeye's topic in Everything Else
Boarding Official: We will now begin getting on the plane. George: Screw that. I'm getting IN the plane. Let Evel Knievel get ON the plane. ;D :'(
  19. Thanks. I use all my rod/reel combo. Some more than others. I haven't fished the pictured combo yet.
  20. There isn't much difference between the 300 and the 500. The 300 may be a better value. I have a 502 ALB and it's the reel I use the most. I've had it a long time and have had no problems with it. It's a very good reel. For a relatively inexpensive reel, Tackle Tour seemed to rate it rather highly.... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewabugarciacardinal502alb.html
  21. I use the spot remover on the tidal creeks I fished because they have hard, sandy bottoms and they stand up better. I used Bagley Shaky Heads, the only kind I've tried, in grassier areas because they slip through a bit better. Otherwise, I fish them very much the same - hop and wiggle. The Bagley does not have a perfectly round head, but is flattened on the bottom, but not quite to the extent of the Spot Remover. That's the reason I ask, the Spot remover and the Bagley Shaky Head are appear to have very much the same use in mind. The only head I use that I emply a "drag" technique with are football head spiral lock finesse jig heads. These seem to be much better for that technique than either the of the above heads, and are better as keeping the bait from falling over sideways. Just my observations.
  22. I bought another Roumba. I don't have any Buzzjet Jrs., just the full sized one. I have to give it time.
  23. No. None in the store, and none available over their internet site.
  24. Not such a sweet deal. I went to BPS today. They didn't have any of the big $4.88 rolls in stock. When I tried to order some at the customer service desk only 8# was available. What's the point of advertising it if they don't have any?
