Dead Shad???
I went out on the Chickahominy River today. Over the course of the day, I saw about 20 blue catfish, all about 20 inches long, floating belly up. Wonder what happened to them? :-?

2007 Revo Premier -vs- 2008 Revo Premier
You used to from me, but not anymore. After using them for well over a year now, I can say the magnetic brake is highly effective and highy refined. I much prefer it to the centrifugal brake.

Dead Shad???
If there are no other dead species other than shad, and all the shad are about the same size, then it's probably a shad die-off. We get them in Virginia. On the tidal creeks I fish I've seen (I'm guessing) 100+ in a day. Big shad either dead or dying. If it's a die-off, it's normal. Otherwise, it's probably a low-oxygen issue, but all size shad should be affected.

MASSIVE Dead Snake
If you compare the size of the the snake to other reference points (bolts, nuts, plumbing) it looks ot be about 9 feet long or so. I can't tell what kind of snake it is because it appears to be in shed - the skin is all opaque - masking it's colors. It's some kind of python (burmese or small reticulated python), maybe a boa, or a green anaconda.

Tell me this isnt the biggest crab you've ever seen.
Eat a hermit crab and find out. That's all they really are - super big hermit crabs without the shell.

2007 Revo Premier -vs- 2008 Revo Premier
Instead of screatch, screatch, screatch when you cast it, it goes wee wee wee.

Upgrades for an Abu Garcia C3
Now that I said it, I don't know if it's true. You can probably get a spool for the 5600WS model reel and put it in yours (as long as you have a 5600 size C3). The WS is a C4 reel with a Wiffle Spool - thus "WS." You can contact Abu Garcia directly and ask about buying the spool. Otherwise, the only place I know that sells spool upgrades is Japan Tackle. They are expensive. http://www.japantackle.com/Tuning_parts/tuning_spools_abu.htm If you are serious about this, you will want to contact Japan Tackle to make sure you get the right spool. I know they carry parts they don't list. I've never used them. But some members here have. You may wish to PM Redlinerobert or Jimzee. I think they've used Japan Tackle. They can probably give you some insight.

Shark Week!
Anyone look forward to Shark Week on the Discovery Channel like I do? A week's worth of good TV. I love sharks. Some random ramblings.... Anyone ever shark fish? I've caught quite a few Atlantic Sharpnose, a Dusky, some Sandbar and a Sandtiger or Lemon (couldn't tell exactly which in the dark - never boated it) in the Chesapeake Bay. Also I've caught several juvenile Blacktips off Oregon Inlet in NC. Shark Week got me Googling and I found this interesting article about some Bull Sharks caught in the Mississippi in Minnesota! Imagain hauling up a Bull Shark while ice fishing... Minnesota Sharks Here's the results of my last shark encounter - last summer while mack fishing off NC. Courtesy of a Mako.

How are Chonarch Bs?
I'm thinking of selling some Revos and replacing them with something else. How are the Shimano Chronarch Bs? I know that they are a wee bit heavy, but I like the finish, the aluminum sideplates, and the size/feel. How do they fish? Will they handle 1/4oz baits like the Revos? Any other thought would be appreciated.

Well, how are your gas prices now?
Amen.

Interesting watch, made from part of the Titanic hull.
Buy it. It's OK. Hell, I've got some granite countertops made out of people's headstones. Seriously, though. It's a nice looking watch. But it seems to me there is something fundamentally wrong with using parts of that ship in that manner. Sort of like making a watch out of the girders of the WTC.

Upgrades for an Abu Garcia C3
As you know, the "3" in C3 is the bearing count. The C3 has 2 spool bearings and an anti-reverse bearing - total 3. The C4 has that plus a bearing on one end of the worm shaft. The C5 has that plus a bearing at each end of the wormshaft. On the C3, you can upgrade the wormshaft so that it has bearings. You will then essentially have a C5 reel. You can upgrade the stock bearings from ABEC3 to ABEC7, steel or ceramic. You can upgrade the drag. You can upgrade the handle. There is a 6-pin brake upgrade if your reel has 2 pins. You can do a spool upgrade. You have to decide it you want to sink more into the reel than you paid for it.

Does anyone else "Google Earth?"
I love Google Earth. I'm always finding cool stuff. Here's a North Korean Air Force Base on the east coast. I love the fact that the grass is burning.

Note to self: Tarpon >>> Bass
We don't have many Tarpon in Virginia. But I've seen them and cast to them in North Carolina. I was fishing on a friends boat about a mile or so off Oregon Inlet along weedline. We were fishing for Cobia but saw several LARGE Tarpon porpoising along the weedline. We were casting those red, rubber tubes that simulate eels, then finally tried some big bucktails. Never even got their attention. I would guess they weight upwards of 100 pounds. They were huge.

- Bass Pro Rods
I have a Bionic Blade spinning rod. I like it, especially for the sale price I got it for. I have a couple of Pro Qualifier baitcast rods - both 7'M/F. I like them. They are pretty stiff, and very sensiive. I like the alconite guides, the reel seet and the powerhump grip. I DON'T like the fact that to lock the reel down you have to tighten the foregrip. Sometimes when fishing it's easy to turn this the wrong way loosening the reel. I have a Johnny Morris Elite 7' MH/F with Recoil guides. This rod isn't so stiff. It's got somewhat soft tip and it's a good multipurpose rod. It's ultra-sensitive. I like to a lot with the exception of the foregrip thing.- Q for Reelmech
LBH's fishing tackle ought to include scuba equipment.- Rage Tail 10" Anaconda
Might be a helluva saltwater striper bait- BEST GRIPPER/SCALE?? What do you use?
x10 on the Bogagrip. I would never use the Rapala scale with the gripper. The teeth tear up bass' mouths. - Bass Pro Rods
