  1. Hooda thunk it ?
  2. That's a knock-out! Lamborghini is an old hat at building 4x4 SUVs. I always wanted a Lambo Cheetah.
  3. If you make $24 per year and own four goats your in the top 1%.
  4. In all seriousness, I'd like to have a Russian Jeep. http://www.thehalbergs.net/images/2005/200509SEP14.JPG If you could import them, get them to pass polution-control standards, then sell them for about $10,000-$12,000, they would probably be very popular. I bet they're rugged, too.
  5. I LOL'd when I saw these Rooskie nimrods driving away in our Humvees. Stolen from a port in Georgia. I started to get a little mad, then I realized they just wanted some decent vehicles, too. I mean, who doesn't aspire to a Humvee when you have to drive crap like this...
  6. "$2400 could buy you a second generation High Definition TV OR schooling for an entire generation of school children in an Angolan village." Great, now I have to make a choice. Sony or Toshiba?
  7. Rondef, you gotta get some pics of these snakeheads. I'm not happy they are in our waters, but I'm pretty happy that they're such fun and gamey fish. I *** you guys that live close enough to fish for them often.
  8. Are you talking about Fenwick Elite Tech? I have a 7'3' MH Elite Tech Crankshaft. It's a really nice rod. I think it compares favorably to other rods I examined before I bough it, like Lamiglass, Powell, American Rodsmith and Kistler. As far as the other Fenwicks, I disgaree with RW. I think they are fantastic values. According to the folks at Tackle Tour, the Fenwick HMG is very comparable to the St. Croix Avid, and costs considerably less. The Techna AV according to people that own both, is very comparable to the Loomis IMX, again for less. You can't go wrong with Fenwick. They have an extremely long history of prodicing great rods.
  9. LOL. Results of DNA test: 96 percent from an opossum. It's that other 4% that is the question. Maybe bigfoot is a marsupial.
  10. Besides being heavy, I never much understood why so many people don't like Quantum. Their spinning reels (at least the high end ones) are about as smooth as they come. I don't know much about their baitcasters, but people that own them and use them seem to like them very much. How's their customer service?
  11. I have a JM Elite baitcast reel. I've had is all spring and summer and it's an excellent reel. It's every bit as good as the Revo or Curado D. In fact, mine will outcast both. As for quality components, it doesn't take a backseat to any of those reels. The Elite is an outstanding reel. The JM Signature reel is just as good, though it has a bearing or two less. They make a 5.4:1 reel which would be good for cranking. Don't let anyone kid you, the top end JM reels are fantastic.
  12. Depends on the reel. I throw light cranks on my All Star American Classic 6'6" m/f and a AG Cardinal 502ALB which has a 25" retrieve. It's a very good cranking rig.
  13. Who has them? What models? Thoughts on them? I was looking at the VSystem spinning reels and they look and feel extremely nice. They are incredibly smooth and the fit and finish is top-notch. I'm just wondering why we don't see more on them. I found an older TackleTour review. Gotta admit, it's tough to get OVER 9.0 on one of their reviews (even under the old rating system). http://www.tackletour.com/reviewokumavs20.html
  14. What Muddy said. I've just ben curious as to the source of certain Pflueger and Johnny Morris reels. Not that it matters much. Pflueger makes a very fine product. Johnny Morris reels are very good, too. Pure Fishing is a company that owns several fishing companies, including Abu Garcia, Fenwick rods, All Star rods, Shakespeare, Pflueger, among others.
  15. I know. Most folks think Pflueger makes JMEs. In reality, both are OEM'd out to another source. I understand that Pflueger is using a different OEM house now that they've been bought by Pure Fishing. I sure would like the poop on ALL THIS.
  16. I have a Johnny Morris Elite BC reel, which is very close to the Supreme. Mine has worked flawlessly for nearly a year now, and will flat out out-cast everything I have, including my Revos and Curado. The brake is the sweet point of the reel. The centrifugal weights are very easily adjusted and the magnetic brake is just as easy to adjust as any other reel. So far, this has been backlash-free reel. I'm considering another, or maybe a Patriach.
  17. Man, I just have a couple Jrs and haven't fished them yet.
  18. It's waterproof to 33 feet? LowBudgetHooker could use that feature.

It's a lot smaller than the horny toad or rage tail. So I think it cast right where it should given its size and weight. I never cast frogs too far so I haven't had any issue with distance.
  20. Bah. Now you look guido.
  21. Agreed. Al Gore says offshore drilling won't have an effect on prices for 5 years. He said that 5 years ago, too.
  22. Just watched him swim the butterfly. Another win, another world record. The guy is amazing.
  23. Rainwater is not devoid of dissolved oxygen. In fact, it can have relatively high concentrations of dissolved oxygen. Rainwater interacts with the air, absording oxygen as it falls. The amount of oxygen absorbed depends on the water temperature, and other factors. Cold water will absorb more dissolved oxygen than warmer water - but both will hold it. The problem with rain is that it will usually cool the hot, but still oxygenated, upper strata of a lake, and cause it to mix with the oxygen depleted lower strata. That mix will lower the average dissolved oxygen content of the lake, possibly to lethal levels. The effect is similar to throwing a aerator into a hot, nearly oxygen depleted pond. Doing so is a recipe for a fish kill. Runoff is a different issue as it washes nutrients, among other things, into the lake that feeds the algae, which depletes even more dissolved oxygen. And having all those dead fish in the lake weeks before didn't help. It takes a lot of oxygen to rot a fish. It takes a whole lot of oxygen to rot a whole lot of fish.
