  1. I think it's one of the best baits for mats or lilypads.

My friggin kids. They won't share a damned thing with each other, but they'll share pinkeye without even being asked.
  4. Springfield Armory M1A. I've been wanting this rifle for forever and never seem to pull the trigger on buying one.

@$&*$!^~#$^^%!~^^&%*^$!^!%$&@^%& Day number 2. Got it in both eyes. I can barely keep my friggin eyes open. In my best Chris Rock voice, "I HATE THIS S***!"
  6. Cool video of an eagle taking on a mountain goat... The Video
  7. I think it's more like a $1 question, since a bag of SKRT frogs costs a buck more than Zoom Horny Toads. The SKs have a better topwater action.
  8. I'm an insurance adjuster and I will tell you that $25,000 in liability coverage is not enough. I have handled many boat accident claims involving injuries. Most injuries for which you may be liable will be minor, but unlike car accidents, a good portion of boat-accident injuries are severe. And when they are severe, they are VERY severe. I mean, no one gets in a fender-bender in a car and drowns. Additionally, if you can afford a Ranger (whether you are rich or not), you will be viewed as a well-to-do defendant and you will become a "target" for an attorney if you cause and accident. I highly recommend $300,000, minimum, in liability coverage. It really isn't that much more. But $300,000 will settle most severe injury claims - even some wrongful death claims. Saving money is great, but don't skimp on needed coverage to get a low rate. I see lots of people of means with minimal coverage just to save a buck. I've seen some of them have to declare bankruptcy to get out of having to pay a huge judgement rendered against them.
  9. That's just great. I can't find them anywhere. Not even at BPS. Gonna have to order some.
  10. Are gonna wear a studded leather collar and a nose ring, too? That'd be cool.

  12. That's a pretty snake. I fed my kingsnake and my corn live mice last night. It's interesting to watch their techniques. You can tell the cornsnake is a mouse-killer. She grabs, coils, and dispatches in 30 seconds. I've never seen a mouse last longer than that. She has a tendency to throw a loop round one way, then a loop around the other way, tighten and twist. Very efficient. The kingsnake is a mess. She's a wild-caught snake and I think she employs her reptile-killing technique to mice. It takes a lot longer to kill the mouse. She will pin the mouse down with her body and push against it. She then grabs the mouse by the top of the head and pulls back stretching the mouse until it can't breathe. It works, but I'm sure it's more effective on little skinks and other snakes.
  13. Watching Indy racing is like watching two turtles screw. At least she has made it interesting - to some degree.
  14. What's the JMP10H? I can't find that on BPS's website.
  15. The company that handles Shimano rebates must be the same company that handles Abu/Fenwick rebates. :
  16. I think I flipped that in James City County, Virginia. It was only about 1.5-2 inches long. Looks big, though. If it's a reptile, I disturb them. I usually try to catch most of the snakes I find. I almost always release them on the spot.
  17. And sometimes ones that just want to be left alone. I'm happy to oblige...
  18. Sometimes I come across other interesting critters...
  19. I came across a vast flooded area last spring that was just filled with frog eggs. Within weeks the entire area had dried up and all the eggs were lost...
  20. Yeah, I occassionally look for amphibs, too. Usually early spring. I've seen hellbenders, but I never seem to have my camera when I do because I'm not out herping when I find them. And I've always found them by accident. I dopn't have too many amphib photos since it's only a minor area of interest.
  21. Could be. I think now that Pflueger and Abu Garcia are now both owned by Pure Fishing, Pure Fishing may have cut their expenses by elimating different manufacturers. The Patriach may be the first manifestation of this. I haven't looked inside a Patriarch and haven't seen the brake, but it does look superficially like the Revo. I suspect now we will see a separation of Pflueger and BPS similarities. I think BPS will now go its way, and Pflueger may take the path of Abu Garcia.

The Gander Mountain in Richmond (Glen Allen), VA is very nice. Much better than any Dick's I've ever been in, but not quite as much as BPS. I do like Gander because the one I go to has a large selection of All Star rods.
  23. Stren Original is still a good line. I use that and Trilene XL. Depending on the size of the baits I'm throwing, I'll use 8-12 lb test.
  24. Sony DSH-5 7 mega pixel.
  25. Here's one I found last summer, I was on the ground taking pictures when Krista, the neighborhood game warden, happened by...
