WOW!! CHECK THIS OUT!!
I don't got to reptile shows. In fact, I've never been to one. I don't have too much interest in exotics (pythons, boas, etc). I am really interested in snakes native to the US, particularly my state. With the exception of my Corn Snake, all the snakes I've ever had were wild caught. And most of those were banged up or injured. Or on occassion a venoumous snake that was where it shouldn't have been. I have two snakes now. Other than my Corn, I have an Eastern King that I caught in Hampton, VA at my favorite herpin' spot. She was in the blue and tucked away under a sheet of tin only a foot or so away from a huge Northern Black Racer that I think was looking for an easy meal. When I found my King, she was super skinny and had been attacked by something - maybe a raccon - and she had big gashes in her side. I took her in and cleaned her up. Treated her for mites. Kept her wounds cleaned with betadine, and eventually she gained a lot of weight and she's my pride and joy now. She's turned out to be a great pet. My Corn Snake is captive born from wild caught parents. I love snakes. Man, I think sometimes I hunt them more than I fish. Here's my king...

I have ZERO self control.
Grocery stores are great places to buy tackle. I got all my Revos on the "meat aisle." I got my Shimanos in "feminine products."

For all that posted that the coming RECESSION, was not going to happen
Bring on the recession. Recessions fix bad habits. Recessions are the fevers that fight disease. They suck, but they tend to correct bad behavior. Recession is a capitalist society's form of tough love.

WOW!! CHECK THIS OUT!!
The pics in your link are Indian Pythons. Indians, Burmese and African Rocks are all very close. But that's definately an African Rcok Python (Afrock for short).

WOW!! CHECK THIS OUT!!
It's an African Rock Python. The reason the teeth are so prominent is because it is very dehydrated. It may even be dead by the time that photo was taken. It was able to slip in under that electric fence, but couldn't get out with that meal in its belly.

6.4:1 isn't fast enough?

Revo S or Citica for jigs?
I can speak for the S, but can only speak from the perspetive of the Curado 200 DHSV. Both are excellent reels. I intially thought the 200 sized Curado would not be a problem but the more I held it the more I thought I had a watermelon in my hand. I ended up selling both of my Curados over the size. I replaced both with Revo Ss. The Revo is a very nice, easily palmable size. It casts as well as any Revo, including the STX, and has an effective brake.

How come we call worms "plastics?"

How come we call worms "plastics?"
Because telling your wife you were out all day throwing "rubbers" would sound weird? :-/

rumor curado , citica and cruix may be gone
This is a spill-over from a discussion on Tackle Tour (which was a spillover from Texasfishing), and there is nothing definate there. Why would Shimano discontinue (or revamp the Curado)? If they want to complete int he $150 range, they ought to just lower the price of the current Curado to $150. The Curado 100D is a nice reel, but I never understood what made it a $200 reel.

Any Gun folks?
You don't have to modify the slide to use a compensator if it's the type of compensator threaded onto an extended barrel. With these usually there is no modification to the slide. But I say USUALLY because the extent of variabilities is endless. But an extended threaded barrel and a screw on compensator is the cheapest way to compensate a Gov't model. Returning it to original (or close to it) may be as simple as replacing the barrel and bushing. Don't use the old bushing since it should have been fitted to the old barrel (you probably know this). If you have to get a barrel and bushing, I recommend Bar-Sto drop-in barrels and bushings. I've used these on several .45 ACPs and .38 Supers and they are outstanding barrels. Any indication if it has been fitted with a ramped barrel?

ardent spinning reels
You'd be doing the whole fishing community a huge favor if you could take and post some decent quality pictures of the reel, expecially with the side cover off so we can see the brake. I can't find any decent pictures of this reel anywhere on the net and I'd like to see one.

Anyone have any of these baits?
****-*** has them. Check the crankbaits section. About a 3rd of the way down. Anyone ever order from another site?

David Fritts baitcaster
I've asked about this reel, and I've had only one answer: it's a fantastic reel for cranking. The ones I've looked at seemed to be very well made and it feels like a solid reel. A Fritts on a Silaflex sounds like an awesome cranking combo. IIRC, FiveBass and Muddy just got one.

New Pflueger reel looks sweet.
In addition to the BPS David Fritts and the Shimano, two others come to mind... The Johnny Morris Signature in 5.4:1. Pinnacle also makes the Matrix II in 4.7:1, which looks like a killer reel. Pinnacle Matrix II

Anyone have any of these baits?
I'm a sucker for crawfish cranks. Their's look great, and they look to have a really W--I--D--E wobble.

Cheating on my Revos with a Johnny Morris Elite.
Actually, no. I actually found them less of a PITA than on my Revos. I started out with just two of the centrifugal brakes on, and the mag brake set at 50%. Never looked back. This reel is on my "dedicated" plastics rod. I think I'm going to leave it as is. It's working too good to go and mess with now. I will say that I set the reel as I have always set baitcasters - with the spool tension knob set so that the lure falls with a little jiggle. The manual says set it so that the lure falls on its own and the spool continues to spin 2 more times before it stops. I tried that and got a helluva birdsnest (the only backlash I got). I immediately went back and set it my way and it works great.

Cheating on my Revos with a Johnny Morris Elite.
I agree it only matters that they work. But which Pflueger reels AREN'T OEM'd out (to somewhere)? AFAIK, Pfleuger doesn't make it's own reels becasue it no longer has a reel manufacturing capability (except through whoever they contract with). Their top-end baitcast reels, AFAIK, are built in Korea - just like the JM reels for BPS, and the Revos. If they had some of their other offerings made in China, I wouldn't be suprised. WHO makes BPS, Pflueger, or whoever's reels is rather secondary to the fact that none of these compaines build them for themselves.

Cheating on my Revos with a Johnny Morris Elite.
As it stands, neither Pfleuger, BPS, Browning nor Abu Garcia (talking about the Revo) are built in their own companies' factories. All these companies contract out to Korean tackle manufacturers to build their reels to their specs. AFAIK, Pflueger no more builds BPS reels than Pfleuger builds their own reels. Silstar does build reels, and it's probably the major Korean manufacturer of reels. Silstar markets its own brand under the name Pinnacle. The guys who run Tackle Tour have reported that Silstar/Pinnacle is the largest OEM manufacturer of reels and that they produce OEM reels for BPS. Since Pflueger contracts out the production of their reels, and since the similarities are so great, I suspect there is more than a casual relationship between Pflueger and Silstar/Pinnacle. Point is, whoever builds BPS, it isn't Pfleuger, because Pflueger OEMs out it's own reel production.

Cheating on my Revos with a Johnny Morris Elite.
I'm a bit Revo-heavy at the moment and am considering selling a few. I'm going to check out Floogers. I may get another JM. I'm smitten at the moment.
