  1. The high-end Johnny Morris and Pflueger reels are made in Korea. They have a lot of features in common. I suspect that there is more than just incidental similarities. It appears to me that BPS and Pflueger both OEM out to the same Korean manufacturer. Another webs site say for the BPS reels, that's Pinnacle, aka Silstar. Pinnacles also have many of the same features found in BPS and Pflueger reels. I think that is very plausible. Abu has their Revos made in Korea, as well (Ss made in China). I've noticed some similarities between the Revo and the Johnny Morris I have, but far fewer than between the Johnny Morris and Pflueger. The news Pflueger Patriarch and the Revos do have some more similarities. I haven't looke dinside a Patriach, though. Maybe Pflueger has decided to use the same OEM manufacturer for their Patriach as Abu has for their Revos. I have found all my Korean reels to be extrmely well made. They want nothing compared to the Japanese Curados I owned.
  2. I have two Browning spinning reels, a Citori and a Medallion, both 2500 series. They are as good as any other spinning reel I have (though not build as ruggedly as my Abu 800s). My are the older Korean built reels. They are very smooth reels.
  3. I think I may be able to make May 10.
  4. Pretty good. if you like that style, you might like Andy McKee... His rendition of Toto's Africa is incredible... http://youtube.com/watch?v=dt1fB62cGbo&feature=related
  5. 6" Culprit worm in black and chartreuse.
  6. With frogs I don't think 6.4:1 or 7.1:1 makes any practical difference. The Revo S has a 24lb drag, though, and the SC has an 18 lb drag. That may make a difference. It's easier to get, say, 14lbs on the Revo S than on the SC. You have to crank them both down, but you're really tightening it down on the SC. So I would pick the S for that application. I usually set my drag heavier when I'm fishing frogs.
  7. I think that was the "No Shame" thread.

I have seen a flying saucer. Made by Avro. Currently on display at Ft. Eustis, Virginia. Seriously, though. I think it would be incredibly vain to think we are the only life in the universe. Apparently, several planets have been found in star's "habitable zones" which could support liquid water. I find it all very fascinating.
  9. I have a 6'6" medium HMG that I've started using for cranking. I bought it because I like HMGs, and because it got a very good review at Tackle Tour for that very application. But I think the HMX 6'6" Medium would have been a better choice. That rod seems to have a significantly more "medium" action than my HMG.
  10. If the AV is a better rod than the HMG (and I'm sure it is), then it MUST be a very good rod, indeed. I really like my HMGs.
  11. I've got a pet cornsnake. I've also got a pet Eastern King Snake that I "rescued" from a slow death. It had been attacked by something and had big gashes in it. I brought it home, and nursed it back to health, and she's a member of the family now. I've brought home and kept short-term dozens of snakes (but I don't do that anymore unless they are injured).
  12. I think that's demented.
  13. I think my wife checks up on my internet wanderings. She says she doesn't, but I suspect she does. I like to make weird searches on Google so she can look at the search list and wonder what sort of weird things I'm up to. You know, like... 20. Those freakin' Black Racers. There are several different species of Racers in the US. Here in Virginia, ours is the Northern Black Racer (Coluber constrictor constrictor). When I'm snake hunting, it's the one snake I usually don't bother to pick up because they are so nasty. By nasty, I mean MEAN. They are full of spit and vinegar. The bite, repeatedly, musk, poop, and they never seem to calm down. It is the ONLY snake that has ever actually gone out of its way to attack me. Despite their taxonomic name, they don't constrict. They run their prey down and eat it alive. The usually chew whatever they catch to a pulp before they swallow it. They are cool snakes, though. Very opportunisitc in their feeding habits. They'll eat anything - rodents, other snakes, roadkill, etc. They are great snakes to have around. They'll keep other critters in check. Here is the one that came at me. He even tried to crawl up my snake-stick to get me. Very testy fellow...
  21. Um, you know, man. Um.... I'm outta here.
  22. Thanks you for joining. We are an awesome group. Our awesomeness is exceeded only by our good-lookingness. Except for Burley, who sort of brings down the group average. Seriously, though. Nice to have you here.
  23. I typed in "average looking women" into Google and this is what I got (like on page 2 or 3)...
