Lipless Cranks
Cast and retrieve. Slow, moderate or fast speeds. You can try pausing once in a while, but they sink fast.

2011 Richmond Fishing Expo
Naturally, I'll be there. That alone should make it worth coming to ;D. I have to say 2010's Expo was less then expected. And I didn't see any BR members there.

favorite plastic company
If I could only go with one, it would be Zoom. But where would we be without Yamamoto and Roboworm? The Wright Bait Company makes the best Senko knock-offs I've tried.

For the 1911A1 .45 ACP fans
The Remington has already been released and is in stores. Springfields are fantastic guns. Nothing wrong with them at all. I've owned two and they were both top notch.

For the 1911A1 .45 ACP fans
Yes, I was skeptical, too. I figured it might be another re-branded Armscor (made in Philippines). But it's the real deal. Manufacturing is 100% in Ilion, New York. There has been a lot of buzz on gun boards since Remington announced the gun. Now that it has made it into the hands of some buyers, reviews have been excellent. The only negative comments I've seen are simply preference-issues (ie: prefer a black trigger to silver, etc). The gun I inspected felt great. The inside of the slide was nicley machined. I didn't see any machining marks anywhere. The trigger was great. Not quite in the Colt league, but neither is the price. The finish is matte blue, with bead blasted top. I suspect this is a going to be a very popular 1911 type pistol. The price is exceptional given what I've seen. And given Remington's size, I'm not surprised they could pull off a quality pistol at a reasonable price.

Ever have a 'DUH' moment while fishing?
Yes. Everytime I try to cast with the bail closed.

Revo Premier Spinning Reel Not A Rumor Any More
It's similar. Not sure if it's hollow or not. Abu has been using that type of bail ever since the 700 and 800 series came out some years ago.

Revo Premier Spinning Reel Not A Rumor Any More
I have to say, that one overdoes it on the bling for me, too.

For the 1911A1 .45 ACP fans
Got to check out Remington's new 1911R1 .45 pistol. Wow, this is a really nice 1911-type pistol. Typical 1911 pistol with a deep matte blue finish. Trigger is super crisp. Nice stainless barrel and bushing. Short aluminum trigger. The front site is dovetailed on - which ought to be law with any 1911. The sites are nice and high with a wide notch in the rear. 2 magazines. Green hard plastic case. All in all, a great feeling gun. The best part is the price - under $600. The gun is also 100% made in the USA. I think the pistol will be great as-is, or the basis for a nice custom job. Looking forward to adding this one to my arsenal. http://www.1911r1.com/Products/Firearms/Model-1911r1.aspx

BPS Rewards Preferred?
In July 2007, I got a letter telling me I was one of Hampton, VA's BPS's top 100 customers. I promptly hid that letter from my wife.

Curado D Series Update
IMO, the 200Ds were the best of all the Curados and among the best baitcasters, ever.

Do you hunt?
Used to hunt - deer, and turkey. Still hunt squirrel occassionally.

Does anybody else find themselves throwing soft plastics more often than hardbaits?
If I didn't own any hardbaits, I think I'd catch as many fish as a I do now. Hardbaits for me are interesting. But I don't think there isn't a soft substiture for any hardbait I have.

Pony Pasture - what's going on there?
I'm off the week of June 20 if you want to head to the Chick oneday that week.

Pony Pasture - what's going on there?
I usually don't fish it until August or September. But might go up in the next few weeks. Is it wadeable now? Anyone fished it recently? I usually work my way across river to the island then fish the dam on the backside of the island.

NOT your old Daisy Red Ryder!
You can have those on an airgun. But they have to be integral with the barrel - i.e. permanently attached and cannot be removed without destroying it. Otherwise, it's a loose silencer and subject to all the laws regarding silencers.

NOT your old Daisy Red Ryder!
I'm using iron sights. The sights are really good on this gun. I might try a scope sometime, but I understand that airguns are very hard on regular scopes and my dealer didn't have any airgun scopes that weren't already part of a gun/scope package. The recoil of this gun is definitely different than a .22 so I can see it would be hard on a scope. Those big-bore airguns are neat. There are some videos on You Tube showing hunters taking rams and wild pigs.

NOT your old Daisy Red Ryder!
I've always wanted a nice, high end air gun for plinking in my yard. Two weeks ago, I bought an Diana RWS Model 34 in .177 caliber. It has a very nicely finished hardwood stock, and steel that is blued as nicely as any firearm I've seen. And this is Diana's low-end gun. It ***** by way of the barrel. It's advertised as having a 1,000 fps muzzle velocity. It's super accurate. Using RWS hollowpoint pellets, I've killed 12 starlings and english sparrows so far, several at 175 feet. Even at that distance the pellet is going right through. If you had fun as a kid with your air rifle, you'll get that feeling back with an adult air gun. I've been having a blast with it.

Zillion CC vs. Revo Winch
I've owned a Winch, and own a Zillion High Power. The High Power is more refined, way smoother, casts light baits a lot better, and heavy baits just as well. The Winch is a great reel, the High Power is just fantastic. If I were ONLY casting heavy baits like swim baits, I might consider ther Winch. Otherwise, I think the High Power outclasses it in every category.
