Tell me what to buy!
Tried 'em, they cut me in half when throwing big cranks. Big cranks will do that to you.

Any of you ever been in a bar fight?
No, but I've been in a stop-light fight. And I won.

Colt Commander: Before and After
Used them for years on my Para 14, Officers ACP, 3 Commanders and several Gov'ts. Never had a problem. I've put them in every 1911 I've ever had. Of course, it will get function tested.

Colt Commander: Before and After
I did it. All I did was put in a new trigger, grips, and a shock buffer. The shock buffer is a Wilson Combat brand and is a drop in part that requires no fitting. The grips are Hogue Ivory Polymer. The right panel fit perfectly. The left panel had too much marterial at the top and pressed against the slide lock. The made the slide lock back even with no magazine. I had to shape the top of the left grip a bit to make it fit and not interfere with the slide lock. The trigger is a Nighthawk Custom match. This was quite a bit oversized - more so than other triggers I've fitted, such as Wilson or Ed Brown. It is not only a oversized in height, it feels a bit oversized in width. I had to take a lot of material off the top and bottom of the shoe. Polishing the sides made fit. It has next to no play and fits much better than the stock trigger. I liked the squared holes better than the round holes in most other tirggers.

Olympics Deadly games
I just saw it several times on NBC. Very, very tragic. And very graphic. Out of respect for the family and countrymen, I think they ought to refrain from showing it so much. They played it like 4 times in the span of minutes.

carry firearms while fishing?
There's a lawsuit pending in Roanoke, Virginia over the detainment and treatment of a CHP holder who refused to tell police whether or not he was carrying. I know Norfolk Police have already had to pay out to one or two CHP holders who were illegally detained, searched and harassed over lawful carrying.

Thanks for all the "Welcome" posts!
Glad you're here. I'm interested in learning more about the Pinnacle product-line. I'm sure I've used Pinnacle products under other names. But the reels that actually carry the Pinnacle name are intriguing. Perhaps highlighting, in detail, a particular reel in the current product line-up maybe once a month or so would be helpful to those of us that are interested but don't know much about the reels.

The CZ97s are fantastic feeling guns. I've never shot one, but the ergonomics are as good as any 1911. In the next few weeks I'll be adding another .45 to my arsenal. It's a toss up right now if it will be another Sig P220 or a CZ97B or BD. I do like the decocker on the BD model. And CZ .22s are amazing. The 452 Lux series has the best iron sites ever put on a rimfire rifle. It's almost a shame to mount a scope on one. Out of curiosity, what do you do that gives you access to the Shot Show?

Deadliest catch - Capt. Phil Harris has passed away.
I registered at Discovery.Com just to post a condolence message on their forum. Since the thread started yesterday, it's nearly 300 pages (not posts) long.

Some years ago I had a Para P14 made in Canada. I liked it, but never really loved it. It had some failure-to-feed issues and sometimes the slide failed to lock back on en ampty magazine. It was accurate. I ended up selling it. Never went back to Para. I have fallen in love with CZ. CZs are among the least well known great pistols on the market. I have a CZ83 .380 which is not only extremely well built, it's exceptiopnally accurate. I rate it a better pistol than the Walther PPK/S and two Beretta Cheetahs I've owned. I also have a CZ75 Compact in 9mm which I carry quite a bit. With the steel frame, recoil is negligible. It's been 100% reliable and is uper accurate. The Czechs build very good guns, indeed. The CZ97B (possibly CZ97BD) is on my very short-list to buy.

That's sad. He was the captain I liked the most.

Never appreciated the anti-political/religious forum rules more than today
I learned the hard way about banned subjects when I started a thread entitled "The Politics of Religion: Doug Hannon's Snake and Babe Pictures." Man, I'm still smarting from the butt-whoopin' I got from that one.

UPDATE* E7 let down
If Curados perform just as well as Shimano's highest end reels, why does Shimano charge hundreds more for their highest end reels? Is that the price of "fancy?"

For those of you that don't want to carry a gun but want some protection, I suggest a trained muskrat.

I carry a sidearm with me not becasue I fear anyone. I carry it because I'm afraid of muskrats. True story: twice I've had myopic muskrats come off shore and swim to my boat and look for a way to get on. The last thing I want to do it tangle with a muskrat. Beating one off with my retractable paddle, a la Jimmy Carter and his ferocious rabbit, doesn't appeal to me. I've seen people dragged out of boats by muskrats. The thought of a muskrat dragging me under, death rolling me, and tucking me under a log to rot keeps me up at night. A little kid that swims alone. A tourist who stands too close to the shore line. An old timer that has let his guard down. That's not me. I refuse to be a victim. That's why I carry a .357 magnum. That's why.- American Chopper is no more
The thing that got me was that everytime Pauley Sr was on, we was saying "if he doesn't stop foolin' around we won't get this bike done on time." As if they had deadlines. ;D - carry firearms while fishing?
