  1. I haven't been on the boards too much lately, so maybe this is old. But the the JDM Abus are looking really good... Revo Neos Revo Elite IB
  2. For SE Virginia, this has been the wettest, snowiest, soggiest, nastiest, crappiest winter I can remember. I've had standing water and/or ice in my yard all winter. I can't walk across my lawn without sinking into it.
  3. Yes. And I occassionally have sex with a real woman.
  4. How the heck can they put out a two disc set and not have Rock of Ages on it? And you can't down load it in iTunes. >
  5. By far the freakiest, scariest movie I've seen in a long time. Don't watch it alone.
  6. Where have the bass gone? What was the water temp last week? Probably still in the 40s. Catching bass on the Chick in cold water (and that's cold for the Chick) is tough. Try near the dam. If you have a fish finder, look for balls of baitfish near the dam. Fish just oustside those balls. Suspending cranks that get down to 15 fee to so, like suspending DD22s will work. Silver Buddies will, too. Fish slow. Winter isn't over and bass are still on their cold winter patterns on the Chick. If you aren't picking up any bass, start throwing some heavy jigs with craw trailers near the dam and you'll pick up some big Blue Cats, and maybe a big *** Bowfin or two.
  7. I live in Newport News. I fish Chickahominy Lake and River, Little Creek reservoir in JCC, Diascund, Lee Hall, etc.
  8. Chick Lake is friggin awesome. I fish it a lot. I loves it. In fact, I want some of my ashes scattered there when I croak (seriously). Chick is good year round, but you need to know where to go at certain times of year. In winter, fishing deep, near the dam, fish ladder, and main channel is productive. In the spring, summer and fall, the weeds are good. You can fish the cypress trees, but I'll say they are WAY less productive than fishing along the weeds or in the creeks next to weeds. I catch more, and bigger fish along weeds than near trees. Getting way back into the backs of creeks will produce a lot of fish. In the spring and summer, there are pathways through the lilypad like roads. Fish these. Fish the duck blinds. Any place there is shade. As much as I'd love to have a big, flashy bass boat, I pitty the fisherman that can't squeeze their $50,000 Ranger past the log jams and blowdowns and get back into the backs of creeks. I see those guys relegated to the main lake when I'm literally back in the soup. (Of course, then can handle bigger water than me, and can go a helluva lot faster). Flipping and pitching are good techniques. But being able to make precision casts helps as casting along the edge of weeds is most productive. My favorite bait for the Chick is the Rage Tail Space Monky in green pumpkin. This bait rock on the lake for 3/4 of the year. Here are some of my fishing pictures. Other than the smallmouths, all the largemouth photos were take at Chick Lake or Chick River. I've seen lots of ghosts, especially when I was in college. All were female. I would walk up to what I thought was a girl. Say something like, "Hey baby, know what would look good on you? ME!" Then I'd turn around to give my buddy five, and when I turned back around, POOF, the girl was gone. Eery.

Call Ghost Hunters. BTW, if I had a ghost in my house, I'd make it pay rent. Or at least do the dishes. And maybe, it's watching you while you shower.
  11. And Paulie lost his shoe in the snow and him and Christopher were stranded in the van eating condiments - ketchup and relish. ;D
  12. I'll start: About 10-12 years ago my brother-in-law and I, and a couple other people, decided to fish offshore near Oregon Inlet, North Carolina. On the way out, we saw what looked like a plastic sandwich bag floating in the water. I said it was a Portuguese Man-O-War. My B-in-L disagreed so we slowed to take a closer look. When we got up to it, he started to poke it with his rod tip. A piece of tentacle got stuck on the rod tip. He went to reach for it and I told him not to touch it since it could sting even though detached. So he got the bright idea to shake it loose. When he did, a piece about 1/2 inch came off and landed on his cheek just under his eye. It took about 10 seconds to kick in. Then he freaked. Then the rest of us all laughed so hard beer came our our noses. I still laugh about that.
  13. I've used LocTite on scope base screws, but not on the ring screws. But you don't have bases. I think you are using tip-off rings? Make sure when you use the electrical tape, you only use one layer. No wrinkles. And it will look better if you trim a strip of it so that it isn't so wide the edge sticks out from underneath the ring.
  14. Headboat fishing? You can fish charters out of Lynnhaven. http://www.fishingvabeach.com/
  15. If the scope is moving inside the rings, and you can't tighten it further, then take it out of the rings and put one (1) layer of black electical tape around the scope where the rings go around. This will increase the diameter a bit and give the rigs something to grab onto. Some ring manufacturers, like Millett, actually recommend this. I did this when I mounted a Weaver-brand scope in Millett rings for use on my Marlin 39A .22. That was nearly 20 years ago and the scope is still solidly mounted in the rings. If the ring foot is worn down, you may have to replace that ring. Replace them both. Airguns are notoriously hard on scopes.
  16. Here are some birds of prey. Bald Eagle - Chickahominy River, VA Osprey eating Gizzard Shad - Chickahominy River, VA Red Tailed Hawk attcking a squirrel - My front yard

Sorry for your loss. Dogs really can be family.
  18. Reaction Strike swimbaits are excellent. I'm using mine as a decorative addition to a driftwood lamp I have. Looks great!
  19. I've used several rigs for frogs, but only have one "dedicated" frog rod. It's a All Star American Classic ACPS2 7' MH/F. It's a pitching rod. I like it because it has a softer tip and gives me a bit of a delay when setting the hook, but has more than enough power to drive the hook home. I have a Revo STX on it spooled with Yo Zuri Hybrid 15#. I use it both for hollow body frogs and soft toads. What I don't like is trying to use a flipping rod for frogs. They don't pitch well and the tips are too stiff. You don't need a crane (which is what a flipping rod is) to fish frogs.
  20. I must have gotten some bad InvizX. Mine was like piano wire. Very stiff. Hybrid isn't limp, but it was superior to InvizX in that regard. I only tried InvizX once and hated it. I use Hybrid for everything now.
  21. I like it. It's the 7'3" MH/MF model. It is made for heavier cranks, like DD22s. The top-half of the blank is glass, and the bottom half is graphite. It's got good characterisits for cranks, and a lot of backbone, too. I've pulled up a couple good size catfish on it and it handles the heavy weight well. For smaller cranks I'd get the lighter crankshaft, or go with a 7'0" HMG in M/MF.
  22. I don't know, maybe they've fixed them. But all 3 of mine had that characteristic. I tried Diawa and Abus on them and they all did it. When I seated a reel and tightened it down, I could still slide the reel forward and lift the reel foot out of the back of the seat. Very disconcerting. I was almost ready to return them but tried a 1/2" of electrical tape wrapped over the very tip of the front of the reel foot. That was sufficient for me to tighten the reel down. They are on there rock solid, now.
  23. I have 7 of the last generation HMGs (5 baitcast, 2 spinning) and 3 of the newest generation HMG (all baitcasters). The last generation HMG used Fuji Hardloy guides. The generation before that used the Berkely guides. The current generation uses Fuji Alconite guides. The last generation rods were excellent. The were light, and exceptionally sensitive. I like them very much. All the medium power rods had medium-fast actions. That made them good for cranks and jerkbaits. The medium-heavy power rods all had fast actions. They were good for plastis and such. I still fish the GT66M and use it for light cranks and topwaters, and jerkbaits. I use the GT66MH for plastics. I used the GT70M for medium sized cranks like Shad Raps. I also use it for ripping jerkbaits. I use the GT70MH for heavy plastics, C-rigs, even frogs. The reel seats are traditional Fuji (can't remember the model). They use full cork handles. The newest generation HMGs are nice, too, but have some disadvantages over the last generation. First, they feel a bit heavier. Not heavy, just a bit heavier. I think it might have something to do with the new grip material. Second, they use a different Fuji reel seat (again, not sure of the model). I have found it impossible to tighten a reel down on the seat. On every reel on all of my new HMGs, I've had to put a piece of electrical tape on the front of the reel foot. They tighten down appropriately with that. Other than that, they are as sensitive as the older rods. They are darker. The old rods were reddish in color. The new ones are black cherry colorred. The guides on the new ones are nicer, but there is no practical difference in their performance. The handles on the new rods feel a bit stickier and are easy and comfortable to grip. But the foregrip is bigger and shaped differently than the older model. Either is great. If I was buying an HMG today and could choose between the old and new models, I'd take the old model if I could save a few bucks. Otherwise, I'd go with the new ones. Old HMGs (bottom 5 rods) New HMG
  24. Stay away from the River 2 Sea Step Wa frog. It sucks. You have to get the retrieval speed just right. Too slow and it has no action. A bit too fast is dives and spins. You have to fish it the same speed every time.

How about "Bimbo Alien Stewardesses from Planet Hooter."
