St. Croix Premier - I shoulda listened to Muddy
Before making that assumption you'll need to give the Avid and Legend Elite Series a try. Generally, the Avid is a "best value". Right now the Legend Elite are on sale for about the same price. http://www.reedssports.com/Category/main.taf?cat=1754 8-) We are not having this debate again... ;D : I could spend $300 on one of these, or get a rod just as light and sensitive, if not lighter and more sensitive, for half the price, and still have a lifetime warranty......Orange is where it is at. The legend tournament edition are just like the "new" rods, split grip and no fore grip. And they have a better array of actions, carrot sticks are very limited

St. Croix Premier - I shoulda listened to Muddy
No not yet, St. Croix has a lot of unique rod actions that are not offered by any other rod companies for the same price and quality.

We just got sponsored by G. Loomis and I have to pick out a couple rods.
Great advice, also picking up a sponsor like that is awesome!!! I too would suggest getting an IMX or GLX worm/jig or flipping stick. Cranking and Swimbaits requires less feel than worming or jigging. You can pick up good cranking and swimbait sticks for very cheap compared to a GLX

Fairview Lake?
Anyone can fish the restaurant side. Biggest I've seen is around 3.5. Nothing of size there. Bring the bucket!!!

Send poop to that special "someone"
Didn't you see the testimonials? One guy said it is the best way he has sent poop through the mail. I do not know the other ways or companies he has tried though ;D ;D :o

Lilly pad lures
Useless in pads. Fish a t-rigged zoom trick worm or two trick worms melted together(fished weightless) both in june bug. A lemon colored senko is a good one for the spawn During the spawn do not waste your time fishing the pad "fields" look for isolated pads especially where there is a bare bank all-around it If you want to fish the pad fields just run a horny toad of them. Later in the year you can do the hard work and fish the brunt of the pads a big worm rigged weightless or a creture with little to no weight.

Medium heavy rod OK for frog fishing??
Do you mean besides the sponsorship dollars? Frog, I don't think you are meaning to come across as a arrogant, but you really are. I grew up fishing north and east texas... call it open if you like but I'll bet some serious coin that there is as much slop as anything you fish. Just because I don't use or like braid, doesn't mean my water is any more or less open. ...lol And just because you can't do it without braid, doesn't mean I can't... I have for many years. Frog, that's the best part of frog fishing, setting the hook and getting um out of the junk I do not think Frog is being arrogant at all, braid is mandatory for frogging. He is trying to help guys increase hook up and landing ratios, there is nothing wrong with that. Rooster, you CAN get a new rod for frogging but you probably do not NEED it right now. If you have a 6'6'' MH or 7' MH buy a pack of soft plastic toads. I would suggest Gambler Cane toads but if not just get a pack of Zoom horny toads. The reason is soft plastic frogs have better hook-up ratios than like a spro frog. Then using a 5/0 hook(a heavier wire is better) texas rig it weightless. Fish the frog on at least 30lb braid(65 and up is better) on whatever stout rod you have(6'6''MH at the least). Fish it just like a buzz bait anywhere you would fish a buzzbait but also include heavy cover like lily pads, slop, dense wood etc. Fish it for awhile or until you at least get some bites. Find out if frog fishing is for you, then you can buy whatever rod you want but I would suggest at least a 7ft Heavy fast/extra fast rod.

Medium heavy rod OK for frog fishing??
And that's why it's called slop. ...lol The point is that you can find slop in every state... ours is as bad as yours. Suggesting that all mono users are ignorant goes a shade or two past stating your preferences, don't you think? People that fish with mono are ignorant ;D I am with you Frog! Whens the next braid rally Micro, that is really impressive, I fish very close to you and fish the same cover you do and find that I need heavy braid and at least a 7ft Heavy rod, I much prefer a Xh though ;D

which carrot stick
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D You guys are too much! And I just ordered a 7'3'' XH rod and another 300 yd spool of 80lb power pro ;D

Tournament Fishing- Frog Bite
The trickworm and senko follow up advice is very effective. I usually just keep fishing the frog, usually bass that completely miss it are very small in my experiance and it is better to just keep fishing What I can suggest is have two different soft plastic frog designs on hand. I usaully start out with a frog that is very subtle, such as the Gambler Cane toad. Then I switch to a frog that makes more splash, I use the horny toad. Use them both in the spots you have missed fish and then move on. You did not say if you were using a hollow body frog such as the Spro Bronze eye or a soft plastic one like a Gambler Cane Toad. You will miss a lot of bass with the Spro frog and similar style frogs like that. I do not know the true reason why, but I think it has something to do with the constant movement of a soft plastic frog. 100% of the time I use the soft plastic style but I have seen that on average that you get less bites with the hollow body frogs and the hook up ratio is much lower than soft plastic frogs.

Why so many MH rods?
WOW great response Flechero! I beleive the reason for all the MH actions is rod companies catering to the everyday angler that throws a lot of the everyday sized stuff stuff. Spinnerbaits, jigs, worms, buzzbaits etc. I guess a lot of anglers want a rod that can throw a lot of stuff so they do not have to spend as much, a guy that I fish with has almost all MH rated rods just because of the versatility :

Dallas and Jim story
Hilarious!!!!! Plus they both won!!

What's in your rod locker?
WOW, I am jealous of the Setyr collection, I wanted to pick up some of these rods but the prices were unreasonalbe next to Carrot Stix LTX or stepping up a little bit and getting a St. Croix Tournament Legend. But if you got them off the flea market GREAT FINDS!

Hook for Anaconda
Geez.... I love ya buddy, but Eagle Claws? I don't think so. Let me say that differently, "I'm surprized you would recommend Eagle Claws." 8-) Man nothing wrong with eagle claws, unless you got a conquest/evergreen combo. And that hook is on that rig Then it would just be blasphemous

Breaking News from California!
A Norfolk station been playing since Novemeber started. My boss has it going in the office non-stop for the last week. I like it better than listening to breathing and paper shuffling.

Getting a rod to go with a Quantum Accurist CX
I would suggest the 7ft Hvy shimano clarus rod. but the new models now sell for 70. They really are a very good rod for the price and your covered by Shimano's great warranty But keeping to the 60 buck limit Daiwa Tierra 7ft hvy. I have handled these rods at some place I can't remember. They were solid rods for the price. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCDAIWA-DTCR.html

What's going on in NoVA? =D

Curado E7/Citica E/Chronarch B For Musky Fishing???
I own the E7 and wouldn't want to put that much stress on the reel. Buy a Citica E and beat the hell out of it. In this situation you will get the most bang for your buck with Citica. I would also suggest taking a look at the winch, very nice reel.

Hook for Anaconda
6/0-7/0 Gamakatsu Monster hook. From no weight to 1/4 oz bullet weight. You can even go up in hook size, for 10 inch worms and up I prefer a 11/0 owner oversize worm hook. I love the cutting point on this hook ;D http://www.***.com/descpage-OOW.html

What's going on in NoVA? =D
Yeah but there is a private side and a public side. I think the public side really is just the restaurant not caring who fishes that side, never had any problems on that side. 7 minutes? Same with me but that is the curse of Fairview. So close you have to fish it but the quality of fish is weak. ;D

What's going on in NoVA? =D
Wow nice Trevor! Nothing much going on with me either. Day before Thanksgiving I caught a solid 3.5 lb fish at Fairview, t-rigging. Other than that nothing, fished last sunday and yesterday and haven't got another bite. It's only gonna get tougher in the upcoming months. Matt Strykul is whipped and can't fish a Gaston team tournament on dec. 21st so I am probably gonna have to fish it for him, with his brother ;D

jig bite's on
Sounds like a great december day!! Too bad that jig cannot fit any braid over 50lb test :-/
