  1. Thanks for the help. I wondered about how long, and how to dry.
  2. How do I flush the bearings? do I just soak them in acetone? I am going to take the plunge today and flush the bearings from a 200E citica. Any tips, suggestions, etc ? To be more specific, can someone give me a detailed report, from start to finish, of how you flush bearings?
  3. Off topic, I know. But, I LOVE your avatar. What a cool picture.
  4. I am going to work on throwing a swim jig, but not just swimming it. Throwing it in and around whatever cover I can find from the bank. I will be using the swim jig as a swim jig, but also killing it and letting it sink just as a regular jig-n-pig around cover, swimming it thru pads and grass I can find. I am going to experiment with two main colors....shad color and bluegill color. I have become somewhat stagnant over the last couple years. I tend to fish the same spots with the same lures. I will experiement with different areas as well as some different lakes in my area.
  5. I am in the minority, but I throw a topwater lure at every stop. I fish from the bank, and have caught fish at all times of day with it. I usually with throw a walk the dog style along with a popper or prop bait. If I am fishing over known structure, I will also throw a wakebait. I figure I might as well try to cover the entire water column since I don't have electronics.

Anyone look at the picture? Just raw pieces of meat that consumers pick up, look at, put back down, repeat until they choose one. Wonder how many pick their nose, toilet without washing their hands, are sick and cough/sneeze into their hands, etc? Eating a little fox meat may be the least of their worries.
  7. I do think you would look goofy...but it would have nothing to do with the classy bassresource jersey, it's just that you look GOOFY  All kidding aside, wear it with pride. It is your money, and if you want to wear it, by all means go for it. You don't have to earn anything, other than the money you need to pay for it.
  8. I like the Ish's phat frog the best. For me, it is the easiest to walk. I too use black and white. I also have a couple of sexy Ish color that have caught some fish.
  9. I have these with me in case I get hooked. They will cut any of my hooks with one hand... in case I have to cut a hook out of the other hand! http://www.lowes.com/pd_284332-16878-50235_?PL=1&productId=1240709
  10. There is the problem.
  11. Wow! that thing is so pretty I don't know if I could fish with it. Good luck Goose...but be careful with the pictures. Folks will be looking at the reel and miss the fish!
  12. So, If I am hearing you guys right, you don't think the road to the super bowl goes through Jon Kitna???? As a cowboys fan, and believe me, it is hard to be a cowboys fan these days, I laughed out loud at the picture of the "cowboys" hoover above. I thought it interesting that Michael Irvin...the voice of reason???....came out the other day and said what I have been saying for the past several years. The cowboys are not a talented football team. They have no chance against a rapidly improving eagles team....with Romo. Without him, it is going to be ugly.
  13. As a bank fisherman, my suggestions are going to differ from some 1.) Fish stealthy...sneak up on them. I cast from a distance aways if able, then work closer to the water as I go to avoid scaring shallow fish 2.) fish at night....MUCH less pressure 3.)try different Lures....IE jointed black jitterbug. Actually had a boater laugh at me for fishing this lure on a Sunday morning at the start of a local tournament. He said NOBODY fishes a jitterbug anymore. I smiled and thought to myself....EXACTLY!
  14. I agree. Handed them the ball one the one and saved who knows how much time.
  15. for 80 bucks, the pro qualifier is an exceptional deal.
  16. I have personally fished the sahara, the symetre, the saros, and the stradic. Stradic wins...hands down IMO. That said, they are all very nice reels. I do not believe there is a "wrong" choice here, and you will be happy with any of the reels mentioned.
  17. Bobby and others, do you guys go any smaller than 1/4 buzzbaits? Thanks again for all the tips/advice/and suggestions.
  18. Sounds like I need to add some 1/4 ounce buzzers to my arsenal!
  19. I have been throwing the buzzer each time I go, at every spot , just to see what kind of results I get.
  20. Thanks for the replies. Bobby, I figured you would chime in at some point. I am currently using two different cavitrons....both 3/8 ounce...one shad colored with gold blade, other black with black blade. No luck yet. I am undeterred, and will keep giving the buzzbait a shot. I am fishing down the banks as well, mostly rip rap, both sides of a major state highway so I am getting windblown, non-windblown, sunny, and not so sunny. fished from 10 am till 3 pm today. Threw the buzzbait at each stop/down each bank where I could walk....nothing ....yet.
  21. Had some battery heated socks roughly ten years ago. Kept feet toasty warm, but were VERY uncomfortable to wear due the the "heating wire". I am sure the new stuff is much better, and much more expensive. A few things about keeping warm....Outer layer must be at least windproof, waterproof is even better. This keeps wind from sweeping through clothes and stealing valuable body heat. Head and neck area must be covered and kept warm...absolute must. I use cabelas MTO 50 parka and bibs and stay very warm. both are waterproof, I also use a windstopper balaclava to keep head/neck warm.
  22. Lot's of good tips. The little bit of success I have had was on moving lures, but not topwater....stuff like spinnerbait, red-eye shad, etc. I have tried fast retrieves, and really slow, but nothing in the middle and nothing with varying speeds during same retrieve. Thanks for sharing. I am going to give it a shot again tomorrow. Also, In response to question regarding water temp...I am not sure what the water temp where I fish.
  23. Everytime I see a pic of your set-up, I think ....that is so COOL! I can picture being out on a llittle lake all by my lonesome....can you take a nap in that rig??? If that seat reclines....I might be in trouble:)
