I used to shoot a bow & arrow. While not any record setter, I was one of the better shooters at the local archery shop where folks used to come to shoot, hang out, and tell stories...ALL of which were true :grin: A younger boy and his brothers started coming to the shop to learn to shoot. I gained a fan in the youngest boy, and he called me shootermcbob...which he explained was because I was such a great archer ( I am NOT, never was)...I would like to think it was because I was nice to the boy and helped him learn to shoot. Shooter = Archer Bob is my name. Not sure where the Mc came from...he was probably a McDonalds fan!!!

The only thing I would add is a balaclava, or something to keep the wind off your neck. Outer layer MUST be at least windproof, preferably waterproof. the key is maintaining all body heat you generate...wind coming through your clothes steals this heat. Do not be afraid to wear two garments on your head...a balaclava and a wool hat for example.

My daughter is testing for her second degree black belt in 9 days. She has been doing this 3-4 times a week for almost 8 years now. Very helpful in promoting self-control, promoting self-confidence, and the quiet calm that she can walk away knowing full well she can, if absolutely necessary, take care of any bullying issues which are so prominent in schools these days.

Mike has also done quite a few of my reels. Outstanding service in every way.

Congratulations to the Seahawks and their fans. I thought Seattle looked bigger, faster, more athletic, and much better prepared. Not surprised Seattle won, but am surprised how completely dominant they were. As a side note, did anyone see the story about Jake, the little boy who lost his vision and is now playing high school football....Pete Carroll and USC players "adopted" the boy. Very touching, and kind of portrays Carroll in a whole new light. I also think the fact that Carroll pushes his players so hard, to be so physical, and to compete so thoroughly in every way, and they LOVE him says he is really doing something really, really right. Keep in mind also, and I am sure Glenn has/is, the Seahawks are a very young team.

I have used 1/8 and 1/4 ounce round ball jig heads from walmart with really good luck. They have a Gamakatsu hook and are 2.89 for 5 of them. I use them on several soft plastics....grubs, havoc sick fish, LFT live magic shad, strike king anaconda worms to name just a few. I have tried some of the more expensive jigheads...Picasso revenge heads, but I see no difference in performance. ..

Corny, but the fact that your brother-in-law thinks so highly of you to spend roughly 600 dollars on what he was probably told was the best reel on the market (assuming he doesn't know fishing and either asked or was told which was the "best" reel) ...to me, THAT makes it worth 600 bucks. I say keep it, keep a reel cover on it at all times when not fishing, and enjoy it. Plus, now you have a splendid opportunity to go out and purchase a high end rod to match!

Thanks for the input. Regarding the simple green, I have some, but it comes in a spray bottle similar to windex, 409, Fantastic and those types of cleaners. Is that what you and several others are referring to when you say a 50/50 mix with water???
