Best Investment...wife, kids, Time spent with them and the ability to live within our means. Really helped when I lost my job and went back to school. Worst investment....my first vehicle...too say they saw me coming would be an understatement. Luckily, it was a Ford F-150 and I drove it for about 220,000 thousand miles before a head on collision with a 108 foot steel I-beam trailor...(in dark. completely across roadway), then father-in-law purchased from insurance company, fixed necessary items, and drove it for about 80,000 miles more. As a side note, one of my best friends in Arizona, who I met after buying the Ford, really taught me a lot about buying cars. He has saved me thousands of dollars since the. So maybe, the Ford wasn't that bad of an investment after all?

I am a kid when goofing around with my kids, yet, at the same time, I am very aware that they watch my every move and look to me as an example of how they should conduct themselves, how they should treat other people. So, I can be both childlike and yet grown up at nearly the same time.

I have caught four fish the last two days on xr-6 size x-raps,,,tried the xr-8 size as well as some bigger jerkbaits... LC pointer 100, spro mcstick, and smithwick rogue...downsized to the smaller xr-6 and caught fish...since I was bank fishing and hadn't moved, it is logical to think the fish just wanted a smaller lure.

Shimano makes several plastic containers to keep your lures organized and safe, they also make MANY different sizes/styles of extremely well built tackle bags...which, luckily enough, come with the word SHIMANO on them so you can show off to all your friends. Shimano also makes many different styles/sizes/types of clothing to keep you warm and dry on your next outing. Also, Shimano makes some very comfortable shoes to keep you safe from slips while allowing extreme comfort for feet, legs, and low back. Need I go on about the rods and reels??? Too much? :grin: Sorry, just couldn't resist.

I bought several pure poison luresfrom Wal of the mart on discount for a buck each a couple summers ago. I still have them all and of the 3-4 I fish, I have had no problems at all. These do have the oval split ring as mentioned above.

I fish from the bank. I have just started getting into fishing jerkbaits. Where would you guys recommend fishing them? I have targeted the "causeways" where water passes under the highway with some success. Should I fish parallel to shore? Cast out along points and work bait back to me? try to work some of the flats? Please share what works for you. As always, thanks to all.

I have personally found the original hybrid to more manageable on baitcasters, while I prefer the ultra soft on spinning reels. I have no scientific evidence or case studies to back up my claim, but I backlash less often ...same equipment...with the original hybrid on baitcasters. Just my humble opinion. I would also recommend that you get a spool of each to try, your results may vary. The line is inexpensive. Let us know what you decide and the results you got. Good luck.

I see you are in Canton, Ohio. I would HIGHLY recommend taking your son to Hadley's Sports in Akron. A young man named Dustin Bounce owns it and learned the archery business from Jim Hadley, who shot professionally. I strongly recommend that you have your son properly fit for not only draw weight but also, and more importantly to proper shooting form, draw length. Archery can be a tremendously fun sport, but it is CRITICAL to have equipment that fits exactly and is properly tuned. 1/8 inch difference in draw length can make an unbelievable amount of difference in accuracy. Also, it would be well worth it to invest in shooting lessons while you are there. It will rapidly advance your sons skill level, making it more fun for him and more humane for the animals he hunts.

I might add that when using the "bow and arrow" method, make sure to lift your rod tip while pulling (gently) on the line....The key is letting go of the line and pointing the rod tip at your lure. Think about it this way, you are trying to shoot slack line down to your lure, thus releasing your lure from the snag. I have also learned that it may take 8-10 times for this to work. I have used it to un-snag spinnerbaits, crankbaits, rattletraps, and many other types of lures. I too fish from the bank. I encourage you to learn this method and work with it each time you get a snag. I have it to be very effective. It is not 100% effective, but it can work the majority of the time.

I have owned several pro qualifiers over the last 4-5 years. I liked them very much. I have since replaced them with "another" brand of reels because I got great deals on them, loved the performance, and most importantly to me...LOVE the way they feel in my hand. That being said, your pro qualifiers will respond very favorably to a clean and lube at DVT. I sent a couple to him and was very impressed with the extra casting distance I was able to attain after the service. I did not really notice extra smoothness upon retrieve, but was wowed by the casting distance. I am not exaggerating when I say 5-8 yards, maybe more. Even better, DVT has very reasonable prices.

Glenn, it's because the Cowboys are the NFL's biggest draw. It really has nothing to do whether they are a good team (they are not), it has to with MONEY. I am fan, but I realize how very average they are. But they still routinely have games during the season that are the highest rated games of the regular season. I had the 7' mf "tube n grub" rod. I first off think the rod was more like a mhf than simply a medium. Secondly, I did not care for the rod. I fished it side by side with a cabelas xml 7 mf rod, and found the cabelas rod to be much more sensitive. Keep in mind, both rods were fished with shimano stradic 2500 and lined with #6 yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft line. I fished both with weightless senkos. Nothing wrong with the rod, but I think there are better choices. Good luck with whatever you choose. Maybe you could do a follow up to let us know how you like what you purchased?

I have sent reels in to Mike at DVT and have been extremely happy with the results.

I have no problem tipping drivers. I am standard for 3 bucks on a 15 -20 dollar order. However, one thing that may be hurting you ...is in this area, the pizza companies are now charging a 2 dollar delivery fee. I am not sure what this covers, but I suspect many think that goes to pay the driver.

As a cowboys fan, I couldn't agree more. Seattle is for real, especially at home. They are big, they play very physical on both sides of the ball, and when they can run the ball on offense and pass when they want to, they are tough, REALLY tough. Wouldn't surprise me, based on the last two games, if Seattle won 10-11 games this year.
