  1. Sam, kinesiology is not the same as physical education. I just recently went back to school after being downsized and took a class in kinesiology. Very difficult course. Excellent point about people working outside of their degree programs. My roommates dad has a degree in physical education, yet makes a lot of money as a salesman.
  2. It's that way now at Ohio State, current players had NOTHING to do with coach lying, same for most every program that gets punished. I guess the thinking is if punishment hurts the "pocketbook", maybe coaches, players, agents, boosters will stay clean. NEWSFLASH...it's not working. If the NCAA had resources, I believe they would find MAJOR violations with players receiving extra benefits at EVERY division 1 football program. The key...taken from John Calipari's playbook....PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY.
  3. I spray KVD line & lure on as I am spooling line onto a reel...fairly heavily. I make sure the line gets completely coated. Then I spray each reel down the day before I go fishing. I think it works fantastically well.
  4. I agree with you, OSU really hurt no one but themselves, and the infractions were minor. They were not trying to "buy" players and I don't think a few tattoos gave them a competitive advantage. But when the Head Coach lies, and is caught in it, Heads roll.
  5. From Tackle Warehouse... Big Game mono 15 # 8.49 for 900 yards....less than 1 penny per yard Trilene 100 % flouro 15# 19.99 for 200 yards....10 cents per yard. that makes flouro 10 times more expensive than mono....in this example. however, it is your money. Just trying to give you some options that may help. Good luck.
  6. Was two good lessons for my kids though, MOST people thought both JoePa and Jim Tressel were outstanding human beings, role models for the way we should behave....NOT SO FAST. I am not in their shoes, apparently they both lied to protect their programs....Tressel covering his own rear and his players, JoePa apparently lied to do the same, but with much more dire consequences. Lesson, people are RARELY what they seem. Always keep a guarded eye.
  7. What happened at Ohio State looks a whole lot less serious in the overall scheme of things. They can call the game this year.....wait for it.... "Liar, Liar, pants on fire bowl"
  8. That's kinda what I had in mind...keep same color scheme...but update it a bit. I think that looks good. Wow, an Ohio State fan marking post #1000 on the Penn State uniforms...
  9. if your new to baitcasting , there are several items you can do to cut down on the frustration of "backlashes", "birdsnests", or whatever one may call them. I would start with a good mono line, some kvd line conditioner, and some black electricians tape. After filling your reel, pull out about a casts length of line, add a strip of black electricians tape, and rewind the line. set spool tension knob first with no brakes on...lure should hit ground and spool should STOP, turn magnetic brakes on completely. Go fishing and and adjust brakes down as your casting performance and rates of backlashing improve. Good luck. oops, you can do the same with flouro line, but it is much cheaper to learn with a mono line such as big game. up to you.
  10. I really like the yo-zuri hybrid and ultrasoft...and both are really good values. I have also used and liked the cabelas brand of FC...heard that it was made by seguar, but can not verify. also pretty easy on the wallet, but I have found it strong, easy to manage, and very castable. I do not think it is particularly abrasion resistant, but I have only fished it in 6 lb and 10 lb.
  11. Dave Campo is coordinating your defense this year. I think he is a terrific fellow and am really hoping he has much success at Kansas. If you didn't know, he was head coach of my beloved cowboys and went 5-11 three consecutive seasons...with a roster that probably about a 5-11 talent level. Anyway, really hope he can make some waves and help your team.
  12. I can see things going either way. Leave it the same because of WHAT it stands for ...togetherness, teamwork, simple execution...not WHO it stands for. Or, they could make some SMALL changes, add names, maybe just tinker with the look a bit...but leave color scheme same...just my opinion.
  13. Amen tipptruck1, at the rates most sporting events are going, I am amazed that they can even fill the stadiums. Besides, at those prices, Who could afford to go and still buy fishing tackle????
  14. Exactly my point...back then, even though he (stevenson) was just an amateur...he was a national hero, financially supported and secure, and he was a MAN with more experience than our entire boxing team. Same point K_Mac made which I agree with...it is not and has not been true amateur competition because many countries...especially the communist countries, wanted to WIN for national pride more than they wanted to compete in a "fair" amateur" competition.
  15. I agree wholeheartedly....however, not all countries follow the same "amateur" status, so what the Olympics ended up being was our teenagers competing against the rest of the worlds fully mature, practiced and experienced 27-28 year old athletes. Not exactly a fair competition. Cuba's renowned Teofilo Stevenson (heavyweight boxer) had a record of 302-22...as an amateur? If we were actually having an "amateur" vs "amateur" competition, I would be much more excited to watch as I believe most people would. However, like most other things, the Olympics have become Only about TWO things...MONEY, and the money one can get by WINNING.
  16. Ah yes, I can still see them clearly in my mind's eye. Sorry, but unable to share them. Besides, there may be some terrifying things in my mind's eye that you don't want to see
  17. I too was watching, hearing the call still today gives me goosebumps. That was back when we sent our amateurs to play against everyone else's "amateurs"....read professionals.
  18. I have to agree...their "technique" is fascinating to watch.
  19. Had really bad eye strain one day last summer when this really nice lady in a small bikini decided to oil herself up as her husband idled past where I was fishing. I believed she was putting on a show for me so I felt it would be rude NOT to watch, and watch, and watch.
  20. That's great! Congratulations. Always fun catching one on your new setup.
  21. Love them here. I like the competitive spirit of the games, will root for the US against the rest of the world in most any sport. Will not watch a great deal, but will try to catch the swimming, beach volleyball (worth it just to see the women's hard bodies), men's basketball, and shorter sprints and hurdles. Anyone here remember Al Micheals calling the 1980 men's hockey game vs. the Russians....were you watching???
  22. I believe you are surrounded by naked Dallas Cowboys's cheerleaders...So am I
  23. tetrachromats? What? LOL. Wow...way smarter than I . Very detailed explanation, after reading it twice, I am starting to make sense of it. Thanks for the explanation.
  24. I have that same PQ in same gear ratio...very good deal on that reel. May I suggest again sending to Mike at DVT and having him clean it...it will improve your casting distance 8-10 yards. Great choice and for that price, you can buy three PQ's for the price of one Winch. How bout posting a report for us after you have had a chance to use it for awhile???
