With the new discounted prices on the 200E7 and 200E5 shimano curados, I thought I would try them. I have been saving and selling some other equipment all summer planning for the "markdowns" to try some other gear. I have to say, after trying cabelas prodigy reels by daiwa, abu garcia revo s and sx, shimano citica 200D, daiwa 153, bass pro shops pro qualifiers and now these shimano curados, WOW. What a difference. They cast incredibly well, are very smooth on the retrieve, and for the price are clearly the best reels I have ever used. This is not to discredit the other reels, I really like the pro qualifiers and the cabelas prodigy reels as well. But they do not have the reel of the shimano curados in my opionion. I also have tried the curado 50E and am really impressed with it as well. I am not a dues paying member of the Posse yet, and since I have two pflueger supreme spinning reels coming, they probably won't make me even an honorary member, but I do like those curados.

LSU's defense was the story of the weekend, IMO. They were powerful, fast, and physical. Even though they didn't sack Oregon QB Thomas...he was under pressure all night. Boise also looked really good, but the question is..."How good is Georgia"? Other than Baylor vs. TCU, most of the other weekend games were "cupcake" games which really dont' tell a bunch about teams....Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, among others ran roughshod over lesser teams. One final note, can someone please do something about that idiot Mark May and his sidekick Dr. Lou on espn??? I would MUCH rather watch a silent screen w/ the highlights and scores than listen to those two babble on and argue.

I was trying to get some fishing in this morning before the thunderstorms arrived. I did get to fish for about 3 hours. Had a productive morning catching 4 small keeper bass, none bigger than maybe 2 pounds. Was casting along the shoreline with a rattletrap and unintentionally snagged a huge carp. At first, I thought it was a catfish because it just pulled... then I got a glimpse of it. It was a huge, stinky carp. Don't know for sure what it weighed, but guessing 8-10 lbs. Had a whale of a time...bringing that bad boy in. They really fight hard. They stink too, but it sure was fun.

I have gone with Roadwarriors suggestion....let sit for 30 seconds on initial fall, move 6-12 inches and let sit for 10 seconds, repeat back to the bank. My catch rate has gone up since working this bait in this manner. Does take some getting used to, but I always throw the senko out before I leave an area.

Looking at the chart, it suggests that anglers could go with 10 lb test Nanofil and still have line smaller in diameter than 6 lb mono. I may have to try some of this line, just to see if the casting distance is increased as much as they say. would also be interested in real-life experiences with strength and casting distance of this line

Let's not kid ourselves. What happened at Ohio State, Miami, and USC happens at ALL major football & basketball universities. It is happening right now in some form at your favorite university. It was going on at Akron back in the 80's and they were division 2. The biggest difference is the idiots who so completely go overboard and when caught, they have not been smart enough to maintain "plausible deniability". Take John Calipari...GREAT coach, GREAT RECRUITER, fills the stands, and when he leaves, the universities have to pull down all the banners of their success. Yet, he himself has never been proven to have done anything wrong...plausible deniability. The coaches...except for maybe Joe Paterno, HAVE to not only win, but win big, AND fill the stands...every game. It is not about football, or basketball, or even winning really,,, it is all about the MONEY.

Back in the mid 70's, my Dad bought a "kit" from herters and finished his own bow. We made our own everything from arrows, to bowstrings, to arm protectors. I do not know what happened to his bow, I got older and went into football, basketball, and girls. I do still have his Herter's hunting knife, which must be 35+ years old now. I also remember their catalogs. Dad and I used to look through the archery pages and ooh and aah over all the stuff we were gonna buy. Good memories.

impossible to tell from the information given. However, I would think that if the person you were meeting was called away to cover/help in another area, possibly the last thing on his mind was the meeting you had scheduled. Was a bank robbed, a murder committed, something else of an emergency nature? then, yes, you are out of line and should understand. However, if he was on coffee/donut break and left you hanging, that is a different matter. I would say at this stage to move forward and reschedule. Good luck

Not true. Pay is way down he scale of what people are looking for in a job. People want to have a feeling of belonging, they want to be noticed for doing a good job, they want to have an opportunity for advancement, and they want good to great fringe benefits. Even with these items,coupled with high pay, there will still a percentage of people who don't care about the quality of the product of they are making. Wages are not the motivating force behind quality.

At that low price, you should just go ahead and get two.

ChiCityBasser, are you showing off??? Seriously, nice catch on all those. good looking fish. 3.5 lbs is a really nice fish. Also, thanks for adding your thoughts. I am gonna try your method next time we have winds creating current that pushes water thru the "causeways" of the two lakes I fish. Question though, were you on the "current side" or on the backside of area where current would be running thru, but pipes,shore, or structure would be causing and "eddy"??? does that make sense???

Thanks to all who shared their experiences. I have noticed the last two times that I fished, it was rainy, windy, & overcast, and I experienced more bites fishing the same areas that I usually fish. Lots more. I usually have 2-3 bites in a 4 hour trip. The last two times I went, I fished the wind blown banks (from the bank), and fished into the wind. I caught 5 fish one day on 9 bites and 7 fish another, again in 9 bites. Coincidence, I suppose it could be, but I caught all fish in a gander mountain purple senko or a yum black w/ red flake money craw both times. Again, thanks to all and special thanks to Sam...I will find that article and read it.

Watching the bassmaster elite series on basscam, and everyone keeps talking about needing current? I fish mostly impounded lakes. What effect does current have bass? also, does pleasure boat traffic that creates waves that hit the shoreline produce current, and if so, what effect does that have on largemouth bass? Thanks for any help.
