Thanks for the replies. At home, i store my rods in a rod rack, standing up with the reels off in the offseason. During fishing months, still stored in rod racks but with reels on. I was more concerned with travel to and from lake, and while at the lake in regards to who used what kind of rod sock/glove and their impressions of each product? I also wondered who hung their trebles/hooks from the hook holder on the rod or if they hung the hooks from the reel? Or if folks use some other system/tool to hang hooks from? I do use reel covers now for both spinning and casting both at home, while traveling to and from the lake, and while fishing. It only takes a second to put on/take off and protects my reels. I fish from the bank, so the chance is their to drop a rod/reel on the rocks or have the wind blow them over as I try to stand them up leaning against my tackle bag while fishing.

Now that I have some "higher" end gear, I want to make sure I protect it. I have and use reel covers for both spinning and casting reels. My question is what/how do you protect your rods???? Do you hang the hooks from the hook hangers and risk scratching the blank? or do you hang the hook from the reel itself and risk scratching the reel??? also, how many of you use rod sox??? and if so, what brand??? As always, I appreciate everyone's insight and advice.

to the original poster... don't know if makes any difference, but Cabelas had the stradic on sale "in-store" for 99.00 bucks (2500 size only). I have a couple stradics and love them. Can't comment on the pro qualifier spinner since I have never fished it.

What kind of tape do you guys use to "tie down" the loose end of line on the original spools??? Do you use the same kind of tape to keep line from "unspooling" on your reels?? I want to make sure the tape I use does not leave a sticky residue on either the left over line or worse, on my reel. As always, thanks in advance for the help.

Agree with Sam. Many of these top fishermen follow the dollars....as just one example...Shaw Grigsby was touting Suffix line as the best, mostest, blah, blah, blah one year and singing the praises of stren the next. Not judging Shaw whom I like and respect very much, but it is a part of the business. The best thing about KVD is that he seems to sign up with a company, and then he and the company work together to bring new and improved products to the market year after year, rather than following the dollars as many others do ( or have to do). For most of these guys, they probably don't have the option, they must follow the dollars to obtain sponsorships to be able to do what they dream about doing. I would most likely do the same. I just think it gives KVD added clout when he can say "I have been fishing with Quantum reels for 21 years and this is the best reel we have made yet".

At this point, the only "fair" thing to do is crown LSU national champs...they are the ONLY undefeated team left, and have certainly played a difficult schedule. EVERY other Ranked team has lost one game.

LSU is head and shoulders above the rest of the country right now. They are so explosive defensively that eventually the other team wilts under the constant pressure they bring. Just for clarification, other than LSU, no team in the country was playing better or had a hotter streak going than Georgia. 42 to 10. says it all. Think about this scenario. Alabama beats LSU in title game...who is national champion. Say the score is 7-6??? I think LSU will win the game, but if they lose by a point, the teams are now 1-1, and yet Bama would be crowned champs.

I know the Duke team was tired, and Ohio State was playing at home, However, the thing that really jumped out at me was how much more ATHLETIC the buckeyes looked. It is a long season, and time will tell how good each team will be at the end of the year, but I would not be surprised to find both teams in the mix come tournament time.

I have had really good response from the fish in my area with the gander mountain brand of stik worm this past summer. More like the senko than the yum dinger or stik-o, and way cheaper.

Can't comment on the KVD rod as I don't own one. I have the ST. Croix 7 foot 4 inch model, though, and love it. It is great for shallow to mid diving cranks and perfect for throwing traps in the lakes I fish. It had plenty of power to bring in an 8-9 lb carp that I accidentally snagged this past summer.

the Packers are LOADED. I don't see them losing to any team in the NFL this season, including the playoffs. Undefeated is especially tough in the NFL, but the Packers are currently head and shoulders better than every other team in the league, WITH their defense not playing up to their level of play from last year. I also think Aaron Rogers is not only the best QB, but the best player in the NFL. He is unreal, especially his "discount double-check" touchdown move. I am a Cowboys fan, and I still marvel at how dominant Rogers has become. He does not get rattled, and is so incredibly accurate.

Being a cowboy fan for many years....I find it difficult to stomach the whole team. I think it says everything one needs to know when Jerry Jones says that this team of MEDIOCRE football players is capable of winning the super bowl...after the 6-10 debacle last season. The only player on the cowboys who is a legitimate star is Ware. Dez Bryant may be one in 2-3 years. The rest are range from good to bad to why the hell are they in the NFL???
