  1. I do sometimes get very hungry when fishing, but I think I will be able to prevent myself from chowing down on a dessicant packet
  2. Do any of you guys use dessicant packets to help protect against rust? I usually open up all my plano 3700's after fishing, but the one time I don't, I have found some rust on some strike king diamond shads. I actually use flambeau Z-rust most times, but have still occasionally found rust. Wondering if the dessicant packets could be used to help absorb moisture and prevent rust?
  3. Now is a good time of year-with new products coming out-to find a good deal in the different flea markets both on this site and others. I recently saw a shimano saros 2500 going for 80.00 bucks...That would be my suggestion.
  4. Thanks for posting that. I did not see the link. I am glad that they changed course, disgusted that there was ever a course of action that needed to be changed.
  5. I am so angry about this I can't even type anything that is appropriate for this board.
  6. 6'9" powell endurance Heavy extra fast action....1/4 to 1 ounce rated rod. Shimano citica 200E7 that I sent to Mike at DVT to have cleaned and replace spool bushing with bearing...improved casting distance 5-8 yards...easily trilene big game 15 lb. I throw almost all 3/4 ounce spinnerbaits
  7. I have had no issues with trilene xl, stren, and big game. I prefer the big game due to the lower cost as was stated by BobP.
  8. I do not have any experience with solar power, but would be VERY interested to hear your results. Please keep up posted.
  9. I am currently experimenting with a shimano curado 50E spooled with yo-zuri hybrid #10 mounted on a shimano cumara 6'8" medium power Extra fast action rod. So far, unfortunately, I have yet to catch a bass with this set-up. However, I have no problems casting an unweighted senko. I still prefer my spinning tackle for unweighted soft plastics, but a guy has to experiment.
  10. The peace and quiet, the serenity of being outdoors as it turns from day to night, or night to day, the constant anticipation that this cast is going to be "the one".
  11. I have a 7'4" St. Croix mojo bass "crankster" cranking rod. It is rated for 1/4 to 3/4 oz lures and 8-14 lb line. I have thrown red eye shads and cranks including strike king series 5 and rapala DT14 with it. I have also thrown strike king 1.5 and 2.5 sized squarebills with it. Rod handles all with no issues, is sensitive, and has good enough backbone to land a 7-8 lb carp I accidentally snagged. At 120.00 bucks I think it is a very good rod.
  12. Good point about Ben. He probably does not get the credit he deserves because the Steelers are so "team" oriented. They play great defense, excel on special teams, and have notoriously been a good to great running team. I still would not include him in my top five, but he is a very good, tough football player who seems to have grown up the past couple years.
  13. Here you go. There is another chart for the spinning rods http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/rods/freshwater/Sellus_Casting.html
  14. Hey....Come on now. That hurts Seriously, Eli is just fantastic. I really think he is the most unbeatable "big game" QB in the league right now. When the chips are down...he is money.
  15. Good point A-Jay. I have to be really careful not to rig the ball head jig too far back on the live magic shad, as I have noticed if the hook comes out clear at the back of the first segment of the bait, it does affect the swimming action. I would have never thought to use them with a spinnerbait. Do you leave the skirt on?
  16. both great suggestions. RW, thanks for additional technique info on how to fish. What size/weight swarming hornet lure do you use? and which size live magic shad? bassin is addicting...do you fish that scrounger/live magic shad combo on a straight retrieve?
  17. A-Jay... I love your math! Spoken like a true fisherman. Enjoy the new reel. How about a follow up review after you have had a chance to really put it to the test?
  18. I have been having some good luck with the 3.5 inch live magic shad. Can't seem to buy a bite on the 4.5 or 5.5 versions? which got me to thinking...How do you guys rig these ? And where do you fish them? I am a shore fisherman, so my options are somewhat limited, but I have had success swimming them on a steady retrieve along the rip-rap. I rig them with a round ball jighead (1/4 oz) with the hook exposed. I have also tried them on a dropshot rig...without success. Thanks for any tips or suggestions in advance.
  19. If we are talking Strictly about RIGHT NOW (not past history)...it has to be Aaron Rogers. Look at his stats last year and of course the 15-1 record. If I had to win one game ...right now...Eli Manning. My list goes like this 1) Rogers 1A) Eli Manning 3) Brees 4)Brady 5) Peyton...if he is healthy...if not 5A) Stafford Really hard to watch Eli game after game after game just destroy my Cowboys. He reminds me...in the manner of late game comebacks,...of Joe Montana,
  20. Good one Dwight, made me laugh!
  21. Great review A-Jay. Thanks for taking the time.
  22. I got really lucky twice when buying jigs. one website had the booyah jigs for .99 each and I bought 60. Another time, the Gambler website had jigs on sale for a buck and i bought another 75. Couple that with the local walmart selling strike king pure poisons for a buck...I bought all 32 they had...I am set.
  23. This probably doesnt matter to you now, but I know that as I get older, that southern warmer climate looks more and more appealing. Just something to keep in mind.
  24. black jitterbug, black buzzbait. I seem to better with a really slow, steady retrieve with both. I have better results with the jitterbug. I have also been having some success with black or black/red spinnerbaits.
  25. I have fished extensively with the cabelas prodigy baitcasters (last years model...made for cabelas by daiwa) and the cabelas tournament zx spinning reel, again made for cabelas by daiwa. The baitcasters sold for 99.00 bucks, though I bought most of mine for 50-60 bucks. I got the spinning reel for 39.00. I have fished with Revo S reels, Revo SX, shimano citica and curado E series, quantum products, and bass pro pro qualifiers and carbonlites. I think the daiwa reels (cabelas) I fished with compare favorably with all except the curado E series. I personally like the "in-hand" comfort of the E series citica/curado, but had no complaints and no problems with any of the daiwa products owned. Still use the spinning reel every time I fish.
