Thanks for the replies. Goose52, have you noticed if the carbonlite casts lighter baits better than the pro qualifier?

For those that have owned both, Can you tell me what the differences are between the two? Did they cast the same distance with same baits? is one smoother than the other? Which one did you prefer??? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have used Yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft for the past few years. I like several things about it: the line is very strong for its diameter the line is very manageable the line is very cost effective... I especially like the #6 with spinning tackle....line breaks at 11.9 lbs is very manageable. I also use KVD line-n-lure.

I throw my lipless cranks with a 7'4" St. croix mojo bass glass rod. I however do not have rip the lure from any grass. I use this rod as my "all-around" cranking rod. I rarely throw any lure over 5/8 ounce and mostly crank in the 6-10 feet depths. I use a shimano curado 200E5 reel mostly on this rod. Just a tip for you as far as the forums here go... A great group of guys are here, and all are willing to help you. Some folks have a very direct approach. Do not take offense, rather spend some time here and learn from all. When you ask a question, you will likely get many different opinions. It is then your job to take what folks have kindly suggested and use that information to fit your fishing style and location. I only have experience with the pflueger supreme. It is a fine reel, and although this may sound weird, I did not like it due to nothing else but the size of the reel. I prefer the slightly larger 2500-3000 size spinning reels. Have nothing but good things to say about the reel, performed flawlessly when I owned it. My advice, go the closest bass pro, cabelas, dicks, academy or where ever you buy your fishing supplies, and put the reel on the rod you are going to use it on. Will give you an idea how it is going to feel. good luck with your choice

Birdy, whichever one you choose, in my opinion, will be the right reel. they are both outstanding products. It may come down to which one feels better in your hand. Make sure to put both reels on the rod you intend to use them with. One may end up "fitting" your hand. Good luck with your decision.

How much have you fished with spinning gear????? I would say why limit yourself? Just another tool in the arsenal. I enjoy fishing with spinning gear now, and find that fighting a fish on spinning gear, especially with light line, to be a challenge and at least as enjoyable as winching them in with a baitcaster. When I first started fishing I did not like spinning gear and tried not to use it. Now there are times when it makes more sense and makes fishing just as enjoyable to use the spinning outfits...maybe more.

I have some of each, and like them both. I could not give you "cons" for either reel and feel you can not make a bad choice with either reel. I really like how the shimano feels in my hand, casts, and smoothness on the retrieve. Pro qualifier is available in wide range of gear ratios, although the new citica now comes in 3 gear ratios as well. I say get one of each and write us a report about which one you ultimately like better???

What would make a rod ...specifically for smallmouth??? What is the difference b/t this rod and a veritas, avid, other fenwicks??? are they stiffer, less stiff, etc? Thinking about getting the 7 foot 4 inch spinning, but where I fish, Largemouth are the prime species. Thanks for any input.

I am partial to #6 yozuri hybrid ultrasoft on spinning gear. It is my favorite line. Absolutely no issues. Not as happy with #12 or even #10 on baitcasters, but still good line at a great price.

Was wondering who uses this reel, and what your impressions of it are? I am thinking about getting one (VERY happy with my Shimano reels, but man, do I love to experiment!). I don't think anyone can say..."this team would have beaten that team" or Bam would have beaten OSU. Everyone is entitled to their own OPINION, but because one person feels that way does not make it fact. The best way to decide is to play the games....in a playoff format. THen the winner will truly be nat'l champs. I do think Alabama deserved to be there, losing only to the best team in college football all year long in OT. I was surprised not that Alabama's defense shut down LSU's offense, but that Alabama's offense ran up almost 400 yards against a VERY good LSU defense. Oh well, now we can all look forward to next year.

Name the "plenty of talent"? Who on the cowboys team is All Pro??? Defense they have Ware and Lee, every other player is average at best. Ratliff gets a lot of pub, but I rarely see him make a play, and OFTEN see him get blocked completely out of the play. Offensively, they are offensive. Romo is a good player, who makes up for the total inefficiency of the Offensive, offensive line. The rookie Smith looks promising, but the rest of the group was below average to terribe. Witten is a good player still, and Miles austin is a very good player IF healthy. The final point, I agree with your "sense of entitlement" comment completely, I watched every televised game this year, and the cowboys talent overall is not better than the Cleveland browns. Fortunately, or sadly in the cowboys case, talent does not always win ballgames. Sometimes teams have a bunch of tough SOB's that just refuse to lose. That is NOT these cowboys.

Here is what I meant to convey: The key point I am trying to make , and realize, I am a cowboy fan, is that this team is NOT in the top half of the league talent wise. They may be 16th , but no way are they in the top 10. Did you see the Giants D Line harassing Romo both games....Did you Philly's Offense just embarass our D TWICE? See my point??? It is not the coaching staff, it is the lack of playmakers on both sides off the ball.

I don't think coaching was the main problem the last year and a half, I still contend that the Dallas team is void of talent. And for a team that was in most every game, they sure lost a lot of the close games, many times beating themselves with penalties and "missed" opportunities. A false start penalty that kills a drive in the fourth quarter or a dropped pass or a wrong route run tells me we have players that are not mentally tough enough to win at the highest level. I do think Garrett is heading in the right direction, but it will take another 2-3 years to fill all the holes/develop younger more athletic players...esp on both lines for this team to be ready to compete with the Eagles, Saints, and Packers. By that time, Ware, Witten, Romo, and Ratliff will be on the downside of their careers. I still say the blind GM that thinks this team is a super bowl contending team is the problem.

Amen. The thing that really IRKS me is when he babbles on and on about all the "talent" they have on the field. They were 8-8 and could easily have 4-12. I am not sure where all that talent is, because from my seat they have 1 elite player...Ware, and several JAGS...(just a guys). Couple that with the rest of the guys who are bottom fodder on the dallas roster and maybe not even on any other roster and that equates to ....8-8.
