Registration Req'd?
In Texas you will need to get the paperwork completed, pay the sales tax, and registrar the trailer also if it is on one. It will need a set of TX numbers also.

Fishing Line
I change mono EVERY day it gets fished. I keep backing on several reels so I may not change the entire spool. If it gets fished, it get respooled that night. Braid stays on until it looses its color or I get leery about it. Some have been on several reels since December, and I am considering changing before next trip I will add this. I keep my spools completely full as it changes the gear ratio on the reel when the line gets way below the top of the spool at the end of a long cast and I like the extra gear ratio.

Do you use 4wd while pulling your boat out?
I wore out three of those jeeps. You will have no trouble pulling an 18 ft boat or pulling it out of the water.

Using Fish Finders to Catch Bass?
I use mine to follow bottom contours and look for scattered grass out away from everyone else. It is just another tool. I have four on my boat. They are all Hummingbird. One in dash flasher, LCR8000, 565, and a 595c.

carpet
X2, Do not put the carpet down with any other type. It will get wet and allow the carpet to roll up. Buy the carpet from a boat dealer, not the cheap stuff that the walmarts sell. It won't last. The carpet is sold by the linear foot and comes in rolls that are plenty wide enough to do a boat. I think the last I bought was about 7-8 dollars a foot.

24 volt motor
There is absolutely no need for a 24v trolling motor on a jon boat. It will require two batteries that you will run down if you stand on it all day. Buy a high output 12v and carry two batteries. It will last longer than the 24v will. You will have two batteries anyway, so you can change them out later in the day and have a fresh battery later on instead of the two that are on the weaker side. I have a straight 24v in my 19' Skeeter and it will throw you out of the boat if you kick it sideways if not careful. With a 24v on that jon boat you better carry plenty of changes of clothes because I promise you it will throw you out when you kick it to the side. I have been out in mine once.

Prescription Sunglasses - seeking recommendations
I use the Bolle' because you can have your script built into a smaller pair of lens that clip into the center section of the glasses. Also they come with four different shades from clear on up. Cost is about 80.00 but you have to pay extra for the seperate lens set to mount on them. It goes on the inside of the outter lens. With this setup you have your prescription working reguardless of the lens color you are using. Just my preference.

Frogg Toggs Rain Ware?
I have two pair and like them a lot. Get the pair with the bibs and a pull over top. All zippers are good for is to let air and water through. Mine keep me relatitively dry, but as with anything if you are out there in the right weather you will get wet. Cannot speak for them in the cold as I use the BPS 100mph suit when the weather is raw.

What does your gear/tackle bag weigh???
I keep all of my tackle seperated as to depth and size in Plano type boxes. They number anywhere from 15-23 seperate boxes depending on the lake and the time of year. Plastics are kept in their original bags. Add it all together and I figure around 30-35lbs. They stay in specified compartments in my boat and seldom are they removed. If I had to guess my plastics probably weigh 15lbs + on their own. Heck I'm going to my boat now to weigh everything. Will let you know shortly.

Painted a swim bait in the sexy shad color and third cast the next morning caught a 10.4...I have fished it all over texas and if does catch fish...
