New Steering Cables, thanks Jack
Key word is "son". Glad you got it fixed. Keep that fishing partner on the water.

New Steering Cables, thanks Jack
I replaced both of mine in an hour and a half last year on my skeeter. Total cost was 210.13. Eleven ft. cables is what it took. At least you can run down the lake and not worry about being thrown from the boat or worse. Sorry it cost you an arm and a leg. I forget about the labor rates since I do most of mine myself. Bet I could have walked you through the install over the phone. I bet you can steer it with one finger now.

Lake Ray Hubbard???
If you are putting in at Dalrock Ramp run North and fish the rock along the railroad and the highways. There is always the I-30 road bed too. And the levy running out from the power plant You can also run to the river below the Lake Lavon dam, but it you don't know the way don't try it. you'll kill your boat with the stumps sitting out in the boat run. Very dangerous if you have not tried it. Large sawed stump in the turn at the highline. It's killed a lot of boats. good luck

Fork 15.61
They are picked up by the hatchery truck and returned to the hatchery in Athens Texas. They are quarantined, treated with meds, and each fish is spawned in a seperate tank if possible. After the spawning process the fish is allowed to recover and then transported back to the lake it came from and released. The donating angler has the option to meet the truck at the original lake and live release the fish if he wants to. I have heard talk that not all of the fish get back to the original water, but that is just hearsay as far as I am concerned. Each angler that donated his fish over 13 pounds receives a free replica mount, jacket, and some other things. the angler that donates the largest fish each year also gets a free life time fishing license. jack

I'm P.O.d, Think I'll become an Activist
The TCEQ (Texas Commission on Enviromental Quality) has put a proposal on the docket to downgrade our lakes, rivers, streams, and all the rest of our surface water that will allow up to 630 colonies of E. coli bacteria per milliliters of water. Current contract allows a maxium of 126 colonies(That's too much for me). It's supported by the Dairy Farmers association and a lot of our cities. Seems that the farmers said fencing the cattle away from the water bodies would cause a reduction in usable land. Our fine city fathers said without it they may have to raise sewage rates to upgrade their facilities. They can all kiss My Bass! I'm putting together a letter to the EPA. Sorry for the rant. I don't care to fish, swim, or boat in any more crap than we are allready exposed to. Jack

Getting involved in tournaments?
Being a non boater is a whole nother deal. I was speaking of the boater side. 99% of the guys are good guys down here, just very tight lipped and will offer no info or help. They will all go out of their way to help their co angler as they are not fishing against them. Should have cleared that up. Jack

Getting involved in tournaments?
Good luck on learning from new people(Unless maybe a club tournament). Tournaments are cut throat and no one is going to give you any information that may cause them to fall a notch or two. Heck, those guys will leave a hooked up fish down and put no pressure on it until you pass just to keep you from seeing that they are hooked up. So if you think it is all fun and games and goodwill for all, you have an eye opener coming. FYI, stay away from "dock talk", it will not help you, only confuse you. Any information that is out there flowing freely is only meant to throw everyone off their game plan. Go find your own patterns and fish and hope they are good enough to place. You will make friends, but it won't be immediate. You will have to prove yourself, and become a reliable source of current info for a select few that may, or may not be willing to give any information up. You will find out soon enough the one or two that you can share information with. It will be by no means be a large group with a family atmosphere. I am in no way saying not to fish or enjoy. It's just a whole "nother" ball game when money or prestige is on the line. If you are allowed to prefish you better take every opportunity to spend daylight to dark each day eliminating unproductive water(Many will, and they are the ones that draw the checks). There is no time to hunt fish when you are on the clock. Too late then, you must be ready. Don't bother checking boats to see what is on the rods laying on the deck at the ramp either. If it's productive, it's been removed and replaced before coming to weighin. Don't let what I have said discourage you though. You must be prepared, fish clean, with no mistakes when it comes to this type of fishing. Pressure is something you must love or you are wasting your time. Now go enjoy yourself. Good luck, Jack

Getting involved in tournaments?
Boy, are you fixing to get an eye opener. It's good that you want to try out the tournament scene. Go for it, but remember, you are fishing the days you want to right now. Reguardless of the weather, you will be required to show up and put up. Those days ya'll quit early due to the bite or weather will be competition days. Go for it and the best of luck. Let us know how you do. Jack

Calling all motor guru's
X2 X3, that's the best advice you have received on this thread. The aftermarket products tend to seperate internally and dump small pieces into the fuel system. they don't like the new fuels that are out there now. Been more than a few motors ruined due to these aftermarket parts. Jack
